But The President Said It Was Getting Better

But the President Said It's Getting Better

This is not about Myspace changes. Even though this is a big problem in the world today, there are a few things that are a bit more pressing....in my world anyways.

Check out the headline from my local newspaper ~Winston Salem Journal~
More homeowners in N.C. lose homesRecord for year already set in 8 counties
I'm thinking this is not the kind of record anyone wants to be breaking. NC is set to have 70,476 foreclosure filings in 2010. The state was at 59,975 on Oct. 31. (What is up with fonts?) Anyhow....that is a lot of flipping homes. Breaking last years record of 60 some thousand. I could look up the actual number for ya, but after a few 1000, it just seems like a mute point.

Why am I bringing up this depressing subject? Because my name is not far from being added to this list. And I thought I was one of the smart ones. Duhhhh me. I did not buy a house I couldn't afford. I did not want or need a McOverpricedcastle. When the mortgage company pre-qualified me, I knew that just because I could qualify for a huge assed loan, didn't mean I could afford to pay for one. Instead I bought one for half of what I qualified for. Man oh man was it hard to walk away from those big houses, with all the bells and whistles. I knew the kids were not going to be around much longer, that soon college and the world would be dragging them off. I didn't want to be stuck with a big ole house with no one in it but me and the dog, so I used my better judgement and went small. I thought I was one of the smart ones. Well long story short. The mortgage company I used(had been in business for over 100 years) went under. Was bought out by another company. One of my payments went missing and is somehow tied up in all their court proceedings. Neither side cares that it was MY money they are playing with. Then my business fell off. Hmmm Cash for Clunkers, seemed like a good idea at the time...huh Mr. President. Well that along with the new regulations impose by the government on cars and who can work on them. My business is cut in half. I turn away at least 6 jobs a week because I can not by law work on seats with airbags. 6 FREAKING jobs a week! So I missed a house payment. That was enough to put me on someones list. The nasty letters started pouring in. Pay us or we are taking your place. Ummm, I don't much like these kinda letters. I started making phone calls. At this point I have talked to well over a dozen folks...all tell me something different, all assuring me not to worry. Folks I am barely making enough to feed my kids and keep my car on the road so I can get back and forth to work...do not tell me not to worry. And why does a bank with America in the name route my calls to a country that has people speaking in a language I can't understand?

So even though everything else in my life is pretty much wonderful. My kids rock, Ernie is amazing, except for a cold my mother is doing better and Ernie's mom has at least one doctor who is trying to actually make her better. The financial portion of my life sucks. That is why I will only be here when I can pick up a signal from the heavens. Cable and internet are not necessities, food and shelter are. If I should happen to turn up missing for a few days, everything is ok. It just means the neighbor secured their internet or McDonalds threw me out for using their free wifi without making a purchase. If you get a free moment ya might want to drop a government official a line and tell him/her I said....things are not getting better...and I thought I was one of the smart ones.

Well now let's see
Posted On 11/07/2010 09:06:17

Hmmm 1st blog here at Boomer, not sure what I even wrote about the last time I wrote, but since I normally just ramble...I reckon that will have to do here as well.

The elections are over here in town. Most of the annoying signs have been removed, so that I can see both ways when pulling out into and intersection. Take note all those with hopes to run for office again....if your sign is still up and blocking my view, I don't care what you are promising me, I will not vote for you. Take your sign DOWN....please.

I have another account on Myspace. I've had it for years and years. I met the man I am in love with there, so I feel like a bit of a traitor writing here. But, everyone else seems to be leaving and I adore my friends so I am giving this a shot. Myspace is going through some changes and it is messing with everyone's account. Except mine. My account is the same, exactly the same as it has been. I am not complaining, but I am sorta starting to feel left out. I mean how can I gripe, if they don't change my stuff? Geez.

Here is nice. I have a few concerns and I am still trying to find my way around. First off, I want to Thank Everyone for the comments. They are lovely and I appreciate them. But, boy howdy are them sucker BIG. If I should delete them from my page, please don't be offended. They are just sooooo BIG that I find them a tad distracting. I wish I could figure out how to downsize them and keep them there. Number next, I was chatting with a friend today and I slipped up and said a dirty word. OK I MEANT to say a dirty word. This is an over 40 site and we were having a private chat, so why did my dirty word get bleeped? I admit certain words are not the best our language has to offer, but sometimes nothing fills the bill like, ummm one of those words. number tres, pictures. Why can I only load a few pictures. I love my pictures. My family and friends are the most important things(I know they aren't things) in my life. I want to share them with all of you. So if you should happen to know someone in the know, maybe you could sorta let them know? Ya know?

Came home Friday night, took a nice hot bath, washed some dishes, a load of dirty clothes and was in the middle of brushing my teeth, when the water went away. My first thought was "did I forget to pay the bill?" Wouldn't be the first time, seeing as how I can be a little scatter brained at times. But then I think to myself (I do that a lot too) the water company does not cut people's water off at 7:30 on a Friday evening. So I run outside and check and sure enough my pipes have come apart and I can hear water filling up my crawl space. ughhhh. Dare and I go pick up Ernie and the 3 of us get the water turned off at the road. All weekend, I was without water. Reaching to turn on the faucet, flush the toilet, rinse out a glass. Once I even told Hunter to rinse out a 2 liter bottle and I would take it to Ernie's and fill it up with water. Duhhhhh, if he could rinse out the bottle....I wouldn't need to fill it. Today my baby brother came over and crawled under the house and saved me once again. Apparently I am going to need all new fittings under there, but he has it working for now. Thank you Matt.

Well that is enough for now. I will of course be back to bore and infuriate you...just give me time. Right now I have to figure out what I want for supper. Hopefully I will figure this out and it will feel like home soon. Right now I sorta feel like a foreign exchange student....not really sure of my surroundings, but like everyone is trying to make me feel welcome. Thank you.
