Back in The 1960s and early 1970s I took every job goin as a kid in order I could buy Motown Albums and Records.Paper rounds before and after school, then working on a street breadvan after the evening paper-round til 10pm at night, workin in the local bakery scrubbin baking trays til my fingers were red raw knee deep in snow every Saturday & Sunday morning.I even baked cakes at home and sold them to the neighbours to earn extra cash-boy I can tell you they were bad cakes. At the end of each week I took the money I had earned along to the local record store and paid weekly all I had earned towards the albums and records the store owner had put to one side for me.By the time I had paid for each item it had usually gone in and out the charts but did I care, you bet I did,nt.I grabbed them off the shop owner like they were gold dust, ran home and played them non stop.Wow I remember the feelin well.Yeh it was tough goin thinkin back but well worth the hard graft..'See ya next Sat Mr Record Shop Owner'I used to shout as I ran out of the shop with my treasures!
