1986 will always be a very special year for me. One fond memory in particular was the meeting place for several of my girlfriends and me. Back in those days, there was a cocktail lounge on the south side of town known as The Looking Glass. Every other Friday, from February to November of that year, we would all meet there for drinks and shrimp cocktail. Over drinks and food, we spoke of current events, sharing much laughter as well as our hopes for the future. Well as the old saying goes, nothing lasts forever. "The Looking Glass Club" began to break up in mid November when three of the girls moved out of state. By December, four more of us got married and I found myself taking that proverbial walk down the aisle as well in February 1987, which as you can see didn't work out as I was divorced in May 1994. Apparently this "divorce bug" must have been contagious as two more of the girls had court dates that same year! Occasionally I still meet with some of the girls, at a different hangout of course, as The Looking Glass has been a thing of the past for many years now. We all still fantasize about the entire group of us meeting once again. While this most likely will never happen there is nothing whatsoever wrong with us dreaming of a "Looking Glass Reunion".
