Note from Foggy: i too have noticed less insects this year. Especially dragonflies and fireflies and little butterflies that before this year were always a lot on my spearmint flowers starting in August ~the little butterflies are seemingly absent completely. this article says it is due to drought and high temperatures in the west and perhaps the toxic smoke from the west coast's fires but they are still studying to pinpoint why.
To remedy as little as one person can, i have been buying crickets at bait stores and letting them go in my yard and, of course, putting out the bird feeders for OUR precious feathered friends... you know, i never took for granted the words to Joni Mitchell song lyric "you dont know what youve got til it's gone". If we all pitch in a little, in the long run it may make all the difference in the world to save our wildlife and ecosystems now in peril from the billionaire chemical and oil corporations lying and selling more and more (so consumers not understanding or who dont care i guess use more and more) toxic garbage that could easily be replaced with eco-friendly alternatives! ~peace love & light
