Straw – the best insulation because it stays dry and warm. (Avoid blankets or hay, which hold moisture)
Bricks- to keep the shelters in place and prevent them from moving in strong winds.
Tape – strong duct tape or waterproof tape to secure the lid and keep everything sealed.
Put the shelter in a quiet, safe spot where cats can comfortably hide.

Almost two dozen monks from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center in Fort Worth, TX, are walking 2,300 miles to promote national healing, unity & compassion. Their trek began on Oct. 26, 20025 & is expected to end on Feb. 12, 2026.
