Doorway to my soul
Listen, the wind is picking up
The waves crashing against the rocks
the sound reverberating in my ears
signaling the arrival of something
But what that is, I cannot fathom
I stand tall on the precipice
Awaiting its tumultuous coming
And out of the sea foam
A black doorway appeared
And the raven flew out
To bring me a message
An invitation to look
Into the doorway of my soul
And open the floodgates
Of memories long forgotten
Of the loneliness harboring
Inside the empty shell
That houses fragments
of my shattered heart
Although I know that I may never be a Mom for real, I saw how my Mom was as a Mother and I was blessed to have two women to call Mom. To my Nanay and to my Mommy, this is for them.
This is an old write which I submitted at the Pub's Saturday Jam in myspace.
A Mother's Prayer
To the Lord up above I make this request
I pray that you give my children the best
You see, as a Mom I am still learning
And trying to be good at discerning
On how to be good at Mothering
And not be so smothering
I don't ask for anything fancy
Whatever you can give is just dandy
But if you were really to ask me
Well I made a list for you to see
Please don't give them gifts
If it will only cause rifts
I'd rather you give them laughter
That they can all enjoy together
Give them enough intelligence
And don't let them be dense
To know right from wrong
And keep their resolve strong
Don't give them so much beauty
If they can't control their vanity
I'd rather they live with little wealth
As long as they have good health
I know my list seems very long
But please don't take it wrong
I know you wouldn't have made me a Mom
If I can't handle the things to come
But even if I'm all ready and set
I still need all the help I can get
