My husband and I, every morning, drink our coffee, smoke our cigarettes and watch/discuss what's happening on our news mix. Today especially was a thought-provoking one so I'd like to reel you into it.
OK. I don't want any party-rhetoric responses. I want to know what my neighbors and friends and anyone who's made a household budget thinks. You know - REAL people.
*** It seems every time I hear the words "budget cuts", social security is the first subject brought up. Now I have several thoughts on cutting our budget and frankly, social security isn't on it. My first thought is the pension plans our politicians give themselves. My second is their medical coverage. My third is all the foreign aid we give out. We don't have to cut it all. How about we just stop giving money to those countries who despise us?
Not just foreign aid, either. Right here at home, if you need help from government in the form of taxpayer-funded assistance such as food or money, you can get what you need, but you earn it. No more sitting at home waiting for your check to show up. If you're too "proud" or too lazy to want to work for it you don't need it bad enough.
Leave that SS alone - you aren't supposed to be messing with that anyway. That belongs to we who've paid in to it.
*** All the Obama haters are jumping up and down about his comment "Indonesia will always be a part of me", yelling and screaming about how un-American he must be. Christ. I'm no fan of Obama by ANY stretch of the imagination, but this is just petty. There are places in Canada that will always be a part of me. In my mind and in my heart. Don't anyone try to tell me that makes me un-American - I'll show you my right(s), literally! I believe he must have a lot of memories from his time there. Period. I wish our news media would quit being pot-stirrers.
While I'm talking about Obama, let me bring up Pelosi. Sorta. The news channel was discussing all her flights, which they said cost over $28,000. per flight. Really? Exaggeration or not?
I know I had more on my mind, but can't recall what they were.
