Timid Minions

Defying the status quo,
some men stand alone
confident that what they know
won't be overthrown.

Timid minions oft forgo
every overtone
other than those so-and-so
drumbeats they enthrone.

Brave men go against the flow
as a stepping-stone
from which adaptations grow
that are sine qua non.

Rigid people drown in woe
reaping what they've sown
fearful of good seeds to sow
if they're newly shown.

Flame

As I shivered in the cold,
in the distance was a flame
blazing red, and blue, and gold
throwing heat I dared to claim.

It was my desire to hold
all this heat within my frame,
Being bold and uncontrolled,
my wings charred till I was lame.

Sometimes good is oversold
with desire all to blame.
Moderation must enfold
sweet ambition's higher aim.

Flowers

Restless flies the honeybee
o'er fields where bright erotic
flowers waft their fragrant plea
begging for a symbiotic
bonding that shall quarantee
an eternal periodic
process that shall oversee
mesmerizing polyglottic
children hugging Gaea's knee,
each a beautiful exotic
grace that trumps all fantasy.

  They look to the blue
  with a stifled view
  for signs that are true
  as feet stomp on through.
 
  The queen's retinue
  tries to worship you
  as a moving shoe.
  There's no other clue.
