His Temptation
Posted On 12/06/2010 07:19:26

The faint cry that escaped her pink lips, which was set upon her pale face, tore his attention from his own thoughts, and back to her need of him. Glindorn turned his gaze to meet hers, as he sensed the anxiety build within her essence at the fear of the unknown. The unknown that she feared would soon become the known, under the hand of his guidance.

He considered it, as he often had, the glorious passage that lie ahead for her, just beyond what would be her last breath. Glindorn had the insight and empathy to understand the apprehension these beings felt at the time of their departure. Much was veiled from
their eyes, and these creatures only trusted what they saw, in the physical realm. It gave him a joy beyond measure, to be one of the Angels who had been tasked with removing that veil from their unseeing eyes; to reveal the light of eternity to them on the forever shores as he guided them to Him.

Glindor leaned down to her, placing his right hand upon her forehead. He then raised his left hand and held it palm open, raising it high to the Heavens. He infused a calming peace within her essence, and heard her sigh with relief at his touch. Glindor raised his hand higher and closed his eyes, focusing on the light of the One, and called upon His power to open the way of the journey for her.

“Do not fear,” he whispered, as he soothed her brow. “This is your time, a time which has been appointed from the beginning of all things. Embrace it. There is nothing to fear, for if there was, I would have told you,” he assured her, with a firm, yet tender, tone.

“I…will I be alone?” she weakly quired him.

“You will never be alone again, nor will you ever be lonely,” he smiled.

He raised his left hand upward and beckoned for the release at which was now imminent. Normally at this time the room would fill with a white light as her essence burst forth from the temporal flesh, which had bound it so tight -all the moments of her life. But the room took on a strange darkening suddenly. Glindor, startled by the dimming of the room, closed his hand into a fist to stop the progression of her release.

From the corner of his celadon colored eyes, Glindor caught sight of a dark shadow in the corner of the other side of the room. As he sharpened his focus, his sight beheld a figure unmasking as it stepped forward. Glindor took in a quick breath as he saw that it was – one of the dark fallen angels, Rezdon.

Rezdon moved in and stood before Glindor. He lowered his head before raising his eyes to Glindor, flashing a deep intense glare with his dark eyes. Glindor recoiled slightly as he saw there was not any light in Rezdon’s eyes, only inky pools which reflected turmoil and rebellion. What he saw there was a storm of resentment for what pressed the other Angel’s nature.

“Time for another light show…my good friend? “ Rezdon mocked, pursing his lips with a smile.

“Rezdon, this is not the time. I beckon you- leave ! , you are hindering the Power,” Glindor compelled.

Rezdon seemed to ponder him for a moment. “What is this I sense in you, Glindor?” A knowing gleam crossed the Angel’s dark eyes. “Oh…but yes…of course. You cannot hide this from me. You want this one, for yourself, do you not?!” Rezdon jeered.

Rezdon shook his head and smiled broadly. “Yes. You do know that it is possible, don’t you? It is now within my realm to help you gain her, should you wish. Do you wish for this Glindor?  It is only my care of you that compels me to help you accomplish this, if you wish her.” Rezdon stood close, his eyes traveling over his friend’s face. “So, I shall ask again, do you wish for this Glindor?" Rezdon pressed.

Stepping forward, Rezdon came face to face with Glindor. Though Rezdon was the younger of the two, his dark stance showed that he was the taller. He reached forward and placed his hand upon the broad shoulder of his golden haired long held nemesis. His dark eyes sought to fix a gaze upon and draw Glindor in; to tempt him with that which he knew held a weakness over the angel’s hidden desires.

Glindor noticed a slight diminishing of his power as Rezdon gripped his shoulder. He looked, with fixed attention, into the dark eyes that held his own. He began to feel in his spirit a sense of grief, as he beheld the changes that were evident in Rezdon since his parting from the perfect way of service to the One. The light seemed to have vanished from behind his sullen eyes. Though he pretended to wear a mask of glee, Glindor sensed his inner torment. A darkness, a tearing away of his essence, a vile bitterness was now within him . Although he remained beautiful to the eye, there was an ugliness beneath that caused Glindor to turn his head and look away from the eyes that sought to sway him. Glindor stepped back, breaking the hold on his shoulder that drew down his strength.

“Why do you forsake that which is of great pleasure, and is withheld from you by the One whom dwells in Light!?”  Rezdon’s voice was steady, enticing. “You are so empty without this, and you cannot deny it. If those in dominion and power sought to do you good, they would not withhold any good thing from you, would they?

You must know you’re being played for a fool Glindor! And what will it gain you in the end? Consider all you have missed for a self absorbed life of sacrificial service!”

Reaching out his hand, Rezdon beckoned further, pointing to the bed upon which lay Glindor’s delight. “Join with me. Our powers together can rescue this one from the journey she does not wish to take. Come with me now and you shall be able to bring her with you. She is so beautiful, is she not?

Think of it, Glindor. What would it be like to touch her in a way that you have never been allowed to before; with all the intensity you’ve wished for, just to touch her?”

Closing his eyes, Glindor dropped his head slightly and raised both his hands before him. “Klonvish Extansag,” he whispered. Translated in the common tongue as “hold fast my strength”. Immediately he felt the warming reinforcement of strength infused within his being.

“Shomasht al Klendashca,” he intoned.  “As it was meant ”.

He raised his head and his eyes met Rezdon’s once more.

“Why do you call upon them for such help? Have you no mind nor will of your own!?” Rezdon taunted.

“It would have done you well my friend, had you called for such help in your own temptation. It may have saved you from going down this path you have chosen, which may be to your doom,” Glindor belayed with calm.

“I made my choice for good reasons, and you especially should understand why. It was in part, what was done to the Dark One, the torture he endured, that drove me to render justice when I saw none being brought forth!” Rezdon raged.

“That was not justice, it was revenge! It was bloodletting of the worst sort. You have yet made things worse by escaping the place you were sent for a time of reconciliation of your essence. Let me help you find your way back there, that you may think on these matters, and redeem the time. You will be forgiven and ushered back within the good grace of the Most High Rezdon, only repent of your wrong doings,” Glindor pleaded.

Rezdon smirked. “I have done no wrong, and I will not be held a captive to the restrictive convictions of the One and all it would set to bear upon me. You presume to think I care to return to this enslavement!? I am free now to do all as I please, and I shall!”

“Enslaved? Free? I will say to you my friend, we are all slaves to one. Slaves to the light, or slaves to the dark. You still have a master Rezdon - and he is your own self destruction! Please. I plead of you, take my hand and return where you belong, to the good way of the Most High.”

“Oh I grow so tired of you Glindor ! . I cannot tolerate this ridicule of my good senses. I shall vomit you from my presence. But I will return to visit you, you have my solemn word in this. I am not finished with you, my friend.”

Rezdon stepped back and slowly moved to the corner of the room from whence he came. A dark shadow descended upon him, as he masked himself and disappeared.

Glindor caught sight of an object on floor where Rezdon had been standing. Moving closer, he saw it was a black rose, and it filled the room with a sweet aroma.

Bending to pick it up, Glindor heard a faint whimper from she who lay in the bed. As he took the black rose in his hand, it immediately dried up and he let it’s deep hued petals fall to floor, yet its perfumed scent still yet filled the room.

Stepping back to the bed Glindor took her hand into his and kissed it gently.

“Now is the time” he smiled as he saw all the fright behind her chestnut colored eyes had dissipated. Holding tight to her hand, he closed his eyes. Raising his own hand, spoke, “Receive that which has been appointed for fulfillment at this time. Her season here has ended, and let a new season begin.”

As a golden light radiated from Glindor, a smile overcame her face and her last breath she took.

“Go in peace and love my beautiful one. All is as should be,” he whispered as he masked himself and left the room.

Only a faint smell of rose remained.
