month from hell
Posted On 11/09/2008 03:53:06

well as some of you may not know Dennis has been ill.
on Oct. 8th after a war to get him to go he allowed me to take him to the emergency room at south lake hospital.(approximate. 2 miles from home).
his heart rate was over 150 beats per minute. they of course admitted him and was seen by a cardiologist who suggested an angiogram. so on Oct 10th we did that and found that his aortic valve was working at 15% and he needed triple bypass surgery to go along with the valve replacement.
this surgery is not preformed at south lake hospital so he was transferred to Orlando regional medical center. (approximate 15 miles from home) on Oct 13th.
upon arrival we met the thoracic surgeon and were told of the procedure and how long it should take. it was scheduled for Oct. 15th at 9 am.
this surgery should have taken 3 hours. but due to a small complication it lasted 5 hours. not only did the valve need replacing and the triple bypass but his heart was not in sinus rhythm and need to have an abla**** something or other done to put it back sync.
Dr. Simmons the thoracic surgeon is very pleased he informed us upon the conclusion of the operation.
on the 21st we were transferred back to south lake hospital. so that he could be released by the cardiologist.
due to the fact that Dennis' hear was beating at such an decelerated rate for so long there has been some heart damage. the heart is weak and needs to be monitored 24/7.
this entails his wearing a life vest. this life vest is an external defibrillator. it must be worn for the next three months when tests will be taken to evaluate the heart. if the heart is strong enough he can remove the vest and live without it.
if the heart does not refortify he will have to have a permanent defibrillator placed in his chest.
he was released from south lake hospital with the vest on Oct 24th.
he is taking 18 medications a day and has gone to the cardiologist three times already. his cumiden level is a perfect 2.0 and has been released from Dr. gunasekera's care until Feb 6th.
and with the grace of god he will be allowed to remove the vest and not need any further surgery.
his heart rate is down to 70 and his blood pressure is wonderful. lol wish I could say the same for myself.
we have an appointment with the thoracic surgeon on Tuesday nov 11th. and hopefully won't have to see him ever again.
well your all up to date now.
love and hugs
Sara

To my Boomer family with LOVE
Posted On 10/29/2008 03:14:22

OMG Where do I begin.

To say this has been the roughest four weeks of my life is an understatement.

But I must at this time add that the thought of all my family and my dear friends thinking of us and wishing Dennis well and above all keeping him their prayers has given us the most outstanding peaceful feeling. We have learned yet again the power of prayer and the blessings of God.

Just to give you all an accurate accounting of what went on.

I brought Dennis into the emergency room a month ago today. His heart rate was 158 a minute. The proceeded to give him four different injections to lower the heart rate and none helped. A cat scan showed that his Aortic Valve was working at less then 10% capacity. Needless to say they admitted him into South Lake Hospital and called in a Cardiologist. We were also informed that he had a class A Scerosis of the liver. They performed and Angiogram which showed the need for triple bypass with the Aortic Valve replacement.

The cardiologist recommended Dr. Simmons a Thorasic Surgeon at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Dennis was then transferred to Orlando from Clermont. Open Heart surgery was preformed and again through the grace of God he came through it with flying colors. Dr. Simmons is a stickler for perfection and over cautious thank God. He believes if the recommended time to remove someone from the ventalator is 6 hours he takes 12 to 18 if 12 to 18 is recommended for recovery room he takes 24 to 30. This I believe is the reason Dennis is doing so well. He was released from Orlando Hospital one week after surgery to return to South Lake. Where the Cardiologist took over again.

During this endless nightmare I have felt extremely calm. Praying at every spare moment. Thanking God for every Blessing.

Please know that my prayers have been for all my family and friends also. For I know for the troubles we have there are many others with worse problems then this. And asking God to bless and keep you all.

I can never express completely the feeling of peace and love that we felt through this. And knowing that it came from the love and prayers of all of you.

And moreover I can never extend the love and thanks to all for everything that has been done for us.
Just know that as always you guys are the best and none better anywhere in the world.

I love you all with my whole heart and soul.

Your friend forever,
With love and hugs to all,

Sara and Dennis

Storm Fay
Posted On 08/19/2008 07:00:16

Ok,

Storm Fay is here and this is the first major storm we are having since my arrival in Florida.

It reminds me of when they talk snow up north. The supermarkets are packed with people buying water and canned food. Makes me think why don't these people keep food in their house all the time? Don't they eat?

Well I have five gallons of water plenty of tuna fish, and cooked food and good ole PB&J in the house so needless to say I won't starve.

Dennis my resident neurotic has made sure we have cash in the house and the house is secured from whatever it is that is coming.

So far we have gotten a beautiful breeze and four rain drops.

If I am not here for some reason it is because the cable went out. So needless to say you will see me soon.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers and I will keep you posted on

"THE STORM"

LOVE AND HUGS

Wow, that about sums it up.

I was scared to death to come home again and am overwhelmed and litterally flabbered by you guys.

You are awesome. To find the love and acceptence and forgiveness that you have all extended to me is amazing. I don't know if this is necessary to you'll but it is to me!

I want to extend my sincerest of apologies love.

And having said that I will never discuss the past again.

Please understand I am taking baby steps as it has been almost a year since I was here. As I am sure you all remember I am not talented in computer stuff so I can't even say I will help anyone do anything.

But I am me and as being me I will just say that I am still the same person who has never forgotten any of you and am pleased to be here again.

Boomer was is and always will be a center of  friendship, consideration, compassion, caring, sharing and most of all LOVE.

Your love has touched my heart and for that I will be forever grateful.

All my love and respect always.
