The Decision
Posted On 03/09/2011 05:33:25

Two roads lay before me,
   which one shall I take?
One winds through the forest,
   the other-beside a quiet lake.

The road through the forest
   is uncertain and dark,
the path rough and rocky-
   scary, unused and stark.

The road by the lake, quite in contrast,
   is smooth, safe and bright.
For it is most often traveled by those
who wish to walk in the light.

Which road shall I take,
the easy or the hard one,
I don't care-for with God by my side,
   I will never walk alone.

"Which road will I choose?" you ask,
   To me-it doesn't matter-
Only the journey, and the end,
   the desination is far better.

For it doesn't matter which road I'm on,
My best friend is always right here,
He holds my hand as we travel,
and every journey we will share.

Until I make it HOME
   one fine and glorious day,
and then, in His awesome presence
I will forever want to stay.

The Difference
Posted On 03/05/2011 04:07:35

I got up early one morning
   and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I didn't have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,
   and heavier came each task.
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered,
   He answered, "You didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty,
   but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me,
He said, "But you didn't seek."

I tried to come into God's presence;
I used all my keys at the lock,
God gently and lovingly chided,
   "My child you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning,
   and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I had to take time to pray.

A Little Piece of Trivia
Posted On 02/17/2011 06:02:26

Did You Know???

Do you or someone you love work at a bank or for a large corporation like AT&T, Avon, B.F. Goodrich, Any Major Bank, The Clorox Company, Coca-Cola Bottlers, Hershey, Nestle, Winn-Dixie, Wal-Mart, Proctor &Gamble, (the list goes on and on)? Did you know that hundreds of these larger businesses take out insurance policies on their employees, naming themselves as the beneficiary? This means that if you or someone you love works at one of these places, when you/they die, the company gets paid!! And, it's one hundred percent LEGAL. They call it "dead peasant insurance".

This is abslutely TRUE. I just learned of this last night, and the scary part of it is, there is no way to know if you or your loved ones are part of it (until you/they die), and if you do find out, there's nothing you can do about it.

Wanna find out if you or someone you know works at one of these places? Or if they have had an insurace policy took out on them? Click on this link: www.deadpeasants.biz to see the complete list of companies, and find out if there's an insurance policy on you!! And watch Michael Moore's new film, "Capitalism: A Love Story" for more news that will raise your eyebrows.

Amending Beliefs About Wolves

Big, Bad Wolf, or Is It?

Amending Beliefs about Wolves

It is a beautiful, fall evening at twilight, and you are taking a well-deserved break with a walk through the nearby forest. The leaves rustle as you walk through them, and the forest animals go about their nightly tasks. A gentle breeze whispers through the trees and shakes the loose, colorful leaves, sending them soaring to the ground. The air is crisp and clean, and you decide to stop to rest on a tree stump not far away to take it all in. Suddenly, everything becomes quiet; even the breeze seems to pause, as you begin to hear the low, mournful howl of a gray wolf from a distant hill. The howl becomes louder and more meaningful as time passes, and sends chills rippling down your spine. The howl lasts for several moments and then begins to fade away just as it started. There is no answer to the howl, it is not repeated, and all is quiet for a few more moments. When it is done, the animals resume their tasks, the breeze continues and you realize that even nature understands that the wolf is not a malicious monster and has the utmost respect for them, because they are not a danger to humans, they have their own forms of communication, and they are loyal to their pack and to each other.

Although wolves have been stereotyped as big, bad, malevolent monsters, they really pose no threat to humans at all. In fact, research has shown that wolves tend to stay away from places that are frequently inhabited by humans (Chavez), and typically avoid humans altogether (“Frequently”). Webster’s Pocket Dictionary defines malevolent as “full of spite or ill will for another” (“malevolent”), and monster as “an animal, plant, or object having a frightening or deformed shape” (“monster”). Wolves actually fit neither of these definitions. Since wolves typically avoid humans, we cannot say they are full of spite or ill will for them; and although some people may find their appearance frightening, they are definitely not deformed. Full-grown wolves are generally less than three feet high at the shoulder, and only weigh in at 60 to 110 pounds (“Interesting”); there are domestic dogs that are taller and weigh far more than wolves. The Saint Bernard, for instance, is highly regarded by humans, and typically weighs between 130 and 180 pounds (“AKC”), but we don’t call them monsters, some are even called heroes.

Have you ever heard a wolf howl? Wolves have their own forms of communication. Sounds, special scents, and body language are all ways in which wolves can talk to one another. Sounds include social howls, which are wolves’ way of locating members of their pack, and defensive howls, which are warnings to wolves from other packs to stay away. Barks are also used as a warning—either of danger, or to show aggression. Whimpering shows submission to dominating members of the pack, and growling is used as a warning as well, and to indicate dominance (“Communication”).

Special scents, such as scats and urine, are used as territory markers. Wolves outside of the pack will recognize these smells, and know that the area is already being used by another pack. Pheromones are chemical messages that are used for knowing when food or enemies are near, or for special events—such as breeding time (Communication).

Body language, such as position, movement and facial expression, is a very effective communication tool. It is used inside a pack to convey the rules of the pack by the dominate members. Wolves show their vulnerable side to indicate submission. If there is a disagreement, fierce looks, teeth baring and growling will be seen. Wolves can show anger, suspicion, fear, and playfulness through facial expression and body movements (“Communication”).

Finally, wolves are very loyal to their pack, or family, and to each other. They live in a social group; with only two dominant members, or parents, and their offspring from previous years. They form tight, emotional bonds, just like any human family; and even have their own home, or den, which is usually a small cave or just a hole, dug in the ground. All the wolves in a pack help raise a single litter of puppies. When the puppies are too small to leave the den, the other wolves in the pack bring food to the mother so she doesn’t have to leave them. As the pups get bigger, pack members take turns playing with them, bringing food, and even baby-sitting (“Wolf”). Additionally, members of a pack also have greeting ceremonies that occur before or after a hunt. The wolves will wag their tails and lick each other’s faces. To show loyalty to their leader, the other wolves rush to him and stick their muzzles in his face (“More”).

Wolves are really just large, wild dogs. In fact, dogs can credit many of their traits and characteristics to their ancestors, the wolves (“Communication”). In addition to their communicating techniques, wolves—like dogs, also run on the fronts of their paws; and have five toes on their front paws, four on their back paws, and dewclaws that never touch the ground. Not unlike dogs, wolves are social, friendly to each other, protect their territory, and have a playful side (“More”).

In an effort to prevent a reoccurrence of the eradication of wolves in the early 20th Century (“Frequently”), I hope to have changed some perceptions of the wolf. Too many people have a negative opinion about them, because of bad folktales and negative phrases (Hunt); and illegal activities, such as poaching, can be high in some populations (“Frequently”). Wolves are not evil or cruel; but instead are loyal and loving creatures, who are just trying to survive. Any animal will kill when hungry enough or threatened and assaulted, even humans. So, if humans can act no better than wolves, how can we call wolves malicious monsters? Humans shoot and kill wolves because the wolves kill cattle or sheep to survive, when humans have other alternatives to shooting them; but wolves do not turn against humans for destroying their habitats or environments, for gassing their puppies in their dens, or for shooting and/or killing their pack members. Wolves do not seek revenge for these ignorant actions; instead, they will find new places to live or just try to adapt to the changes. So, the next time you hear a wolf howl, don’t picture the wolf in Little Red Riding-hood; think about how much it has in common with your own family, or your best friend.

A Letter to My Friends
Posted On 02/02/2011 05:18:24

First of all, I want each and every one of you to know that I love you very much, and that it is with a deep sadness and a heavy heart that I make the following decision.

Being a mother of four, wife to a disabled husband, continuing my education, an active member in our church, and right now - caring for a temporarily disabled parent doesn't leave a whole lot of time for social networking. But, don't let all of that fool you. Just because I can't be on here very much does not mean that I don't know what goes on.

That being said, recently I was enlightened to the fact that there have been attacks to my personal faith posted as bulletins on this site. Some of the posters are currently on my frends list.

While I am not a judgemental person, I am also not blind or stupid. I believe that every person has the right to believe in whatever they personally choose, and do not push my faith on anyone. I don't believe anyone else should either.

So, it is with deep regret that I will be "filtering" my friends list. I hate doing this, and I want you all to know that is only because I will not stand for anyone putting down what I personally choose to believe, and because I do not think it is right to try to shove what you personally believe down someone else's throat. Everyone has the right to their own beliefs - and if they decide to change their beliefs, then they can do their own homework. They do not need someone else to do it for them.

Currently in deep investigations and sending all of you God's Love,

Genie (Wolfgal)

Proud Of Being Me
Posted On 01/06/2011 11:26:57

I may not be the most beautiful girl or the sexiest girl nor do I have a perfect body.
I might not be everyone's first choice, but I’m a great choice.
I do not pretend to be someone I’m not, because I’m good at being me.
I might not be proud of some of the things in my past, but I’m proud of who I am today.
So take me as I am, or watch me...
as I walk away!

Eagle's Song
Posted On 01/04/2011 04:30:08

These are the lyrics to a song a lady sung in our church one Sunday. I don't know who wrote it, but I thought the song was so beautiful, I asked her if she would share these with me, and she did!! Now I am sharing them with you, feel free to share it with someone else, just don't give me any credit, I didn't write it. If you must credit someone, give it all to our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus.

*But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as an eagle, they shall run and not grow weary and they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)*

High on the mountain place an eagle builds her nest,

Far above this world's evil, she lets her babies nest.

And just like that old eagle, when my back is to the wall,

I turn to the rock of my salvation, He sees me through it all.

For if I were an eagle, I'd spread my wings and fly,

Far above this old world, tell all my troubles goodbye.

For someday soon I'll set my feet on the highest mountain peak

And look down to the valley below where I used to be.

Once I lived in the valley, each day was the same,

Nothing to look forward to, only heartache and pain.

Then one day I realized there's more to life than this,

So I'll just rise on the wings of an eagle and see what I have missed.

One day soon I'll take a flight far above this world below,

Cause when I hear that trumpet sound I'll be ready to go.

I'll drop my weights and then I'll rise for all the world to see,

that I won't need the wings of an eagle,

when He sets my spirit free.
