It's the promise of a clean slate;
in slumber now, awaiting chalky transgression
that inspires and drives me to protect it's chastity.
Gone now the former sins, erased,
not forgotten--- but conveniently made impotent,
that reminds and stills my temptation to repeat them.
Would that I live a double life where...
one's a sinner and the other a saint,
where only the saint has the chalk....
