The 747-8 is the largest and newest 747 version, the longest passenger aircraft in the world. The 747-8 is offered in two main variants: the 747-8 Intercontinental (747-8I) for passengers and the 747-8 Freighter (747-8F) for cargo. he aircraft will be capable of carrying up to 467 passengers in a 3-class configuration over 8,000 nmi (15,000 km) at Mach 0.855.
The 747-8 Intercontinental will have the lowest seat-mile cost of any large commercial jetliner, with 12 per cent lower costs than its predecessor, the 747-400.
The airplane provides 16 per cent better fuel economy, 16 per cent less carbon emissions per passenger and generates a 30 per cent smaller noise footprint than the 747-400.
The 747-8 applies interior features from the 787 Dreamliner that includes a new curved, upswept architecture giving passengers a greater feeling of space and comfort.
The entrance to the plane has a wide-open foyer area that includes a curved staircase to the upper deck.
Korean Air has joined launch customer Lufthansa in ordering a total of 33 747-8 Intercontinentals.
First delivery of the 747-8 Intercontinental is scheduled for the fourth quarter. Air China also has agreed to order five Intercontinentals, pending government approval.

Entries for the National Geographic Photos contest has closed. Nearly 22,000 entries were received from the photographers all around the world. The winner will be declared in this month. The winner will receive a Grand Prize of $10,000 and a trip to National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C., to participate in the annual National Geographic Photography Seminar in January 2013.

Born in Hubei, China Lei Wei is a contemporary artist who is famous for his gravity-defying photographs. His works of art are famous for their eccentric locations and postures. It’s hard to believe that these photographs haven’t had any help from the many photo-editing software’s out there. However, he insists that his work is a combination of photography and performance art. He makes the use of props like mirrors, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics to achieve the desired results. Wei’s goal is to “make everything possibleâ€. His artwork has been exhibited all over the world including Asia, Australia, Europe and South America.
These photos are part of an ad campaign created by NAM for the Harbor City Chocolate Trail, a charity project for the Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation. Everything in these photos, including the liquids, is part of a single photograph. The series uses their signature method of suspending objects and people with strings and cables to create weightless environments that appear to be caught mid-explosion.
Philippe Ramette is famous for his gravity-defying photographs. Initially a sculptor, he began to experiment with gravity, weightlessness and our relationship with the landscape. After looking at these magnificent photographs, it’s very hard to believe that they haven’t been digitally influenced. In reality, they are the result of complicated arrangements using weight bearing structures (or lead weights for the underwater shots).
