I was one of the original members of My Boomer Place when it was started as an over 50 alternative to My Space. Papa Tom, from Michigan, began the site and randomly selected people from My Space from all over the country that were over 50 to try his new site. Considering the millions of people that were using My Space at the time, being selected was almost as rare as winning the lottery. Since the site was in its infancy, less that 100 people were on it and most of us became close friends. Papa Tom became uninterested in maintaining the site and informed all the users that he intended to turn it into a dating site and gave us all a deadline to delete our account, which we all did. Did I say that being selected for this site was almost like winning the lottery and that the small number of people who were the initial users became close friends? Yes I did...... and one of the users is now my wife!
