More alone now than I have ever been no one to even call just me and my dark view of the other side of life as it was taught me their view is not, no not what I ever seen ~ The silence in the night echoes in a mocking voice the dream I had so many nights ago ~ Is that the sun setting in my golden west where I learned so much about this sad and lonely life we all live ~ So quietly down, down, again I drift down from the very edge of life I cling so tightly to the dream ~ Mike Carson 10-15-1988
Amazingly, this was written a few weeks after I first met the love of my life...I just didn't know it yet...life and love abounds.

The world is softly fading from my sight more years are passed than those that wait ahead I feel death calling gently in the night My love stands waiting brightly in the light has never waned since the day that we wed The world is softly fading from my sight My weary spirit tells me this is right such sorrow laying lonely in our bed I feel death calling gently in the night Dear death no longer holds terrible fright my quest again be over when I’m dead The world is softly fading from my sight Fight it every day with all my might despite all the warnings that have been said I feel death calling gently in the night The life I’m living has turned into blight I feel as if my feet were made of lead The world is softly fading from my sight I feel death calling gently in the night Mike Carson 1-17-2009

Walking down by the willows with Neal Young and The Red Hot Chili Peppers; my mortal remains see the sky, touch the wind, soar away, drifting on a silver cloud that I discovered so long ago. Lives ago, I found that I had the key within, the key of life. I have always owned it and no one can steal my tune. I live in the now though, there is so much to be unhappy with in this most recent section of my life. This is true, I will say it three times if you like. I have earned every silver strand I own and each and every scar and wrinkle. No matter what level of enlightenment we obtain, we remain, for now, tethered to the earth and her daily cycle. It is good to remember though, how to be a feather in the wind. Mike Carson 7-13-2009

Cold lies Emerald sin Truth and beauty hiding In darkness running from the light Red pain Mike Carson 4-24-2008 A Cinquain 2-4-6-8-2
*I wrote this 18 days before my wife passed away, it fit my life at that time, but I didn't know at the time how dark it was fixin' to be or how hot the pain would be...
