ENTER THE SILENCE
Relax
Allow the thoughts to come and go
Slow them down deliberately
Ease into the space of nothingness
The gap between the thoughts
It is there where pure consciousness resides
Breathe
Feel the inner soul
The energetic you
Energy flows in
Toxic thought flows out
Focus on that which you want
Most
See it as coming into your experience
Experience it as “yoursâ€Â
Be grateful
Feel the peace
It is there inside each one of us
Send it outward in ever widening circles
Ripples of pure Love
Intent on encompassing the Whole
You are the healer
The World is your patient

Palm Springs Solstice
we met again
in the heat
of the summer solstice
in an oasis
of summer grass,
date palms
and hot
desert winds
round moon shadows
swept light
in ripples
across
the night blackened lake
edging lightly
the pole-stems of palms
glistening verdant gold lines of vertical light
fingertips slowly
tracing upwards
along bare arms and thighs
frantic whispers urge onward...
"yes..more!
oh...please!
oh yes!"
mutual chant
of low throated moans
gives chase to this moment of nights
wind chimes
echo crescendos
a melodic orchestration
of orgasms and sighs
finally in a lazylove
contentment....
slowing
passion-matched heartbeats
relax
in time
responding...
oh so lovingly
to the subliminal
requests made by our MotherEarth
and the magic
found
in a night of star-swept skies
silver-edged lakes
solstice moon
and
hot
summer
winds

Fireworks
9: 15 pm
My last night on Mission Bay
I wade into knee high water to pull the boat in from its anchor
Friends and children pile in, scramble for seats
I loosen the front line, kick off and the boat swings outward
Slight trouble getting it in neutral
I drop the Merc engine in, turn the key
Rev the motor a bit, turn on the running lights
Drop the stern line and
Begin my way across the few miles to Sea World
There is adequate light on the bay at night
Some moon
Lots of stars
We search out the so-familiar-by-day landmarks
Now shadowy and strange
The kids are giggling and talking
Just past Fiesta Island
We wait,
Motor idling in neutral
Lights on the tree at Sea World go out
Signaling the beginning to the fireworks
Suddenly the sky around us is alight
Chrysanthemum blooms of red, yellow
Hearts, stars
Rockets sound off above us
Sounds of “ohh….ah…â€Â
One small boat in a black sea
We are encased in three-dimensional balls of light
Grand Finale thunders over us
Rainbow
Fingers of firework streamers cascading down around us
Until the darkness enfolds us once more
I kick the engine into forward gear
We make our way back to the shores of the campground.
Everyone is silent
The wonder of the night still upon us.
Great ending to a vacation

When you Need Me
Should there ever come a time when
You feel you can’t go on
I will be there
To help you know
You have someone who cares
If your spirit just shuts down and
In looking around
You can't seem to find
what's important any more,
I will remind you
That we are simply here,
to love and be loved.
And when your day turns black
Brings you to the edge
I’ll put my arms around you,
hold you
And just say nothing.
Speaking only to your dreams so
You will be comforted.
And if the darkest hour appears
You will feel me,
I’ll be right there
I will hold your hands
Wipe the tears
Wrap you in my secure embrace
And if that day ever comes,
when you need someone
To take your heart,
hold it, love it,
I will stand by your side
And just love you as
I have always done
And someday
I hope
Someday
You will realize...
It was always Me.

"Sailing.....takes me away...
Takes me to where I want to be..."
-Christopher Cross
It was an early spring Saturday
In Newport Harbor
Dense dense fog
Only sounds were the halyards snapping the masts
And the fog horn at the Wedge
Completely alone
Snuggled warm in my daddy's
Too-large heavy green sweater
Sailing by myself
An eight year old girl
In an old wooden snowbird
12 feet, one sail
Painted white with green trim
Odd to have such a brisk breeze in such heavy early morning fog
A bit of a scare as I am surprised by a large cabin cruiser
Moored ghost-like, deserted
Suddenly appears 5 feet in front of me
I realize I'm not quite sure where i am
Not a single soul has ventured out in the bay this morning
My daddy
Now gone on errands
Helped me put the boat in the water
Pushed me off with a wide knowing smile
He never questioned my abilities
Even at eight
I had great sense of direction
And I wasn't afraid
I loved the comfort of the snug gray walls
Which traveled with me
Water swishing along the sides
Trailing tiny bubbles in the wake
I smoothly glided around the southern end of Lido Isle
Past Shark Island and along the western edge of Balboa Island
The ferry was the only loud noise...
It's engine gunning loudly as it made it's way
Back and forth
So peaceful
I loved being alone on the water
A sense of gliding on the clouds
Through eternity of time and space
Independent, resourceful
I always found my way
In the love that surrounded me

The Bisquick Queen
9 a.m. Saturday mornings
Generally find me at the stove
Standing there in my nightgown
8 cup measuring pitcher in hand
Filled with pancake batter
Recipe as well known to me as my phone number
3 eggs
3 cups of Bisquick
2 ½ cups of 2% milk
Double griddle sizzles over two burners
At the 1951 O’Keefe and Merritt stove
I pour
Six at a time
Turned when the bubbles appear around the edges
Just golden brown
My kids like the “light “ ones
I pile them high on the platter
Next to a bottle of Aunt Jemima syrup and
A bowl of softened yellow butter
For 22 years
I have flipped pancakes
Every weekend
Through the 80’s and early 90’s to gangs of little boys
Punching each other, burping, howling like wolves
Now replaced by gaggles of giggling girls
Crowd me at the stove like so many baby seals
Mouths open, flippers extended
Barking for more
Soon enough, my girls will grow into teenagers
Sleep in after late nights out
Refuse the heavy carbohydrate, sugar loaded
Morning welcome of their childhood
I will sit at my table alone
Sip my tea
Amidst the quiet
And wish for it all again

West wind at 4
Halyards snapping in the breeze
Newport Harbor beckons me
With childish delight I run for the boat dock
Daughters in hand to show them
Memories of my childhood
This time, instead of my lovely sleek excalibur
A dark blue bayliner will zoom me around
The watery playground of my charmed youth
But the starter won’t start
We are shored.
Stories are all I have:
Dodging the ferries at Balboa Island
Maneuvering between racing sabots,
Intense children
Intent on winning
I tell my girls about my daddy and I playing chicken
With other boats, rental boats
and docks
In my mind, I motor by the once upon a time pink tower house on Lido Island
Scene of wild party one night with some visiting Danes and a bottle of Schnapps
I don’t tell my daughters that one
Explain how Linda Island used to be called Shark Island
How it used to be all sand like a desert
Great for picnics,
Point out Bay Island where there are no cars, just “old moneyâ€Â
Just north, we pass by the blue gray docks
Newport Harbor Yacht Club
Where we belonged for 50 years
Where I learned to sail alone at the age of 7
I mention one of the few fights I had with my father 2 years before he died
Boating accident, equipment failure
And not a problem of the unopened bottle of wine
I long to be young again, if only for a moment.. .
To feel the sails catch the wind, feel the boat heel over
And drive hard for the shore
Wet and salty, I feel the sudden sting of tears
The memories are good

The second time we made love
There were no lava lamps
Echoing wet shadows on whitewater walls
No visage of the painted black crow
Hovering
Over the moon white room
The second time we made love
There wasn’t the awkwardness of new found skin
Clumsy fingers blending the colors of our bodies
As we began the motions of love
The second time we made love
There was only the pristine white bed
Daylight shadowed by filmy drapes
The tarot cards
A comfortable easiness
Your shaman’s hands
Probing age old questions into my satin skin

Surrender Response
I
Fingers erratic upon skin
Open palms
Moist mouth opens
World stops with your eyes
Seeking the surrender response
I offer
II
Lips trail naked skin
Kisses raise orgasmic delight
Hands delve in damp secrets
Mouth and tongue bring on the surrender response
Empties the world of me into you
You fill the void
Inside the space of nothingness
Where we have dissolved.
III
To learn surrender
To learn control
Supreme effort to remain steadfast
Or incredible gift of giving all
With each
you win

The world of dreams is Magic
Let your dreams be Sacred
An event of suitable proportion
A connectedness
A vessel of communication
That of the rationale to the super conscious mind
We encounter the magic of our inner selves
Inside the dream world
Let your dreams be Sacred
Let them reveal the real
Of what is to Be
And follow
This is the magic of God
This is the magic which resides in the glint of your eyes
And manifests as reality in your life
The moon, sun, sea, and stars are our directions
Our dreams are the vessel to the future
Let them all be Sacred
Listen
Watch and
Be Magickal!
"Circe of the Braided
Tresses"
i solitary goddess of midnight
gained the throne of
Colchis near the Black Sea by marrying its prince
they say i murdered my husband
in order to rule alone
but who's to say
what transpires behind closed doors?
i fled to the "wailing"Isle of Aeaea in the north Adriatic
my island is
considered a funerary shine
where the dawn rises
Hesiod called me
a death Goddess.
(yet you must cast away the past
before being reborn)
still he named Kirkos the falcon after me
gave it my song for it's cry forevermore
i carry the spirits of men
searching the celestial skies
for love
i am but a child
daughter still, of the sun and sea
seeker of the moon
i never tamper with the spirit or soul of man
merely
transform him to the animal closest to his true nature
yet i wait for no man,
every man
"the" man
to bring me home
beyond the east
and west, in the space
before the dawn
The Holy Woman
I, Priestess
wrap the hands
with red silk cording
infinity motions the athame
blessing the handfasting of
two secure independent souls
into one blended new life
I, Master Healer
crimsonlavenderbluewhitelight
surges vibrations from deep within
laying on of healing hands
easing the deep gray sorrows
of illness and pain
I, Mystic
hold the hand made Tarot cards
violet-edged visions
form
from hands to heart to eyes
to silver velvet toned voice
I, Woman
open warm
loving
deep
creased
hands
wide
to embrace
all People,
all Love, all Mind
all Life!

Creation: the Joy of Union
we touch who we are and
rejoice in the knowledge
that to experience the
Divine in each
to create that unity
that union
sexually
is to touch the face and breadth
of God
of the Goddess
of us
claim
the experience of Love
it is
a powerful spiritual identity
the fuel to our will
the grace to progress onward
each time we act on Love
we honor our emotions
our inner power to surrender
to a force greater
than the sum of it's parts
the passion
we most need to feed
is the spiritual one within
and ultimately
determines our own relationship to ourselves
sex
becomes an extension of our own mind
love comes
not from without
but from within
and when we can share that
unhesitantly
unselfishly
intimately
with another human being
to create more love
the unfolding of energies
so vast
so complete
we are gods
we are Love
we are Joy
Divine Creation

Soup Time
It's late september
I make the first soup of autumn
Bringing to mind
Another day, another soup
Split pea with ham
Made while in casual conversation
On an earlier cold rainy afternoon in february
I remember your hands
Swiftly chopping onions, and garlic
Rinsing the peas
Setting it to simmer
Laughing
As we discuss methods
My stew-like version VS yours
Pure ham & pea
I remember thinking
How special,
A man who can cook
One who enjoys being in the kitchen
Making something wonderful
I remember too
How your hands felt
Undressing me
How they slipped into my depths
Exploring me
As we made love
On a hastily constructed bed
On the floor in front of the fireplace
I remember
Hearing the rain
The scent
Of the incense burning
The heat
Of the flames on my naked skin
And I can
still
smell
the soup
Simmering
As we simmered
On that far away afternoon.
