Dear Boomer friends, I am flying to Sint Maarten with my sister’s son for a dignified farewell to his father—it is his wish to do so, as my sister cannot bear it. It happened on September 11, 2021: after a beautiful boat trip, he went to bed in the evening, exchanged goodnight kisses, and turned over—only to pass away. It was a tragedy. We are receiving this trip for free from the hotel. My sister’s son has worked at Schiphol for 25 years—kudos to him—and received a beautiful gold pin; he would love to place it by his dad’s urn when we are back in the Netherlands. A beautiful and touching gesture. I am standing by him! Lots of love and have a wonderful weekend, Dayenne and Sebastiaan.
Beste Boomer-vrienden, ik vlieg met de zoon van mijn zus naar Sint Maarten voor een waardig afscheid van zijn vader – het is zijn wens, omdat mijn zus het niet kan verdragen. Het gebeurde op 11 september 2021: na een prachtige boottocht ging hij 's avonds naar bed, wisselde hij welterustenkusjes uit en draaide zich om – om vervolgens te overlijden. Het was een tragedie. We krijgen deze reis gratis aangeboden door het hotel. De zoon van mijn zus werkt al 25 jaar op Schiphol – petje af voor hem – en heeft een prachtige gouden speld gekregen; hij wil die graag bij de urn van zijn vader leggen als we terug zijn in Nederland.
