Have you ever traveled on AMTRAK?
I've had the oppotunity to travel on AMTRAK on several occasions. . .the longest of which was in 1997 when I traveled with a friend from Atlanta, Georgia to his birth home in Plattsburgh, New York. I can't express the "neato factor" associated with travelling by AMTRAK (or any train as far as that goes) and watching the world pass by. Everything seems so beautiful as your pass through small towns and villages and are reminded of times gone-by. Eating on a passenger train is another joy that you have to experience to appreciate. Perhaps the best way I can explain it is to ask if you remember how exciting it was as a child to go out to a restaurant? Eating on AMTRAK lets you relive that same sensation as an adult!

So, I encourage you, to stop by and post your memories about rail travel.

I agree
One of the best things about rail travel is the ability to sightsee as you go. When our money allows I like to do just that. . .take AMTRAK from Atlanta to Birmingham just to people watch. Where else can you spend about 50 bucks and have such a good time?
