Faded Rose (A Sonnet) Must love depart when beauty starts to fade; when twilight hours bring only lonliness? Recalling tones of passions' serenade, and kindled flesh, when touches hotly press. Entwined in love's encompassing embrace, each lover shares the other's breathing bated. They writhed as one in wild unfettered grace, their breathless whispers left their hearts elated. She sighs, and lives again his soft caress, but mourns, it's in the past and won't return; the mirror's cruel reflection brings distress, unbidden tears escape, her feelings churn. She clutches love that's past and in repose, resigned she'll always be, this faded rose

Just a Woman
I am a woman, daughter, mother, grandmother sister, aunt and friend. I was once a wife and have been a lover.
I have written and wrestled with emotions, loved and forgiven, but rarely forgot. I have traveled and stayed hidden. I have wept.
I have searched my soul for hidden truths; prayed and lamented loss. I have rejoiced and given birth, married and divorced. I have lived and tried to die.
I have fought for life and welcomed death. I have asked why a million times. I am everything and I am nothing. I am just a woman.
