**Not everyone's "cup of tea" but this singer has always made me want to sing along...a silly comment inspired this write...but his music stands time tested and the songs mentioned in this poem are but a small fraction of the total songs this man has written and performed in his time...Neil...I still love ya & I always will!!! ;-) ...Have a listen at YouTube below and check out his other songs...I guarantee you will know some if not all of them and I dare you not to hum or sing along** **SORRY YOUTUBE NOT POSTING...GO FIND HIM THERE & LISTEN**

THE TROUBADOUR
Neil diamond irritates ~ she said ~ With an impatient jerk ~ of her bobble-head ~ He's an old man trying to be young and cool ~ His sappy song lyrics prove ~ He's just an old fool.
I BEG to differ! ~ I swore…I declared ~ Whippersnapper you had ~ better just beware ~ That troubadour's been making sweet music ~ Since long before ~ You were even born ~ His lyrics spoke to broken hearts ~ Soothed emotions tattered ~ torn!
"I AM" – he said ~ When no one cared ~ "I AM" – he cried ~ To the silent chair ~ When he did? I heard him loud and clear ~ 'Cause... well... my heart was always there!
Cracklin' Rosie got on board ~ Sweet Carolines' good times Never seemed so good ~ Neil got me through the worst of times ~ Just when I thought that no one could!
Solitary Man he was then ~ perhaps will always be ~ But the songs he wrote ~ Touched a note ~ Deep in the heart of … ME!
So go ahead ~ Speak your mind child ~ And I'll do the same ~ There are rules you must know When you play the game ~ It's YOU who irritate ~ with judgments quick ~ With clueless labels you carelessly stick ~ Upon the "tried and true" ~ This master of ~ A "Song Sung Blue" ~ So many things you don't ~ You can't yet know ~ Things he wrote about in ~ "Brother Loves' Traveling Salvation Show ~ As the "Singer Sings His Songs" ~ Trying to mend broken hearts ~ The "Grass Won't Pay No Mind" ~ Lovers love and do their part ~ While you ~ "Forever in Blue Jeans" ~ Dream beneath the sweet " Tennessee Moon" ~ So much time your side to grow wiser ~ Some day perhaps ~ young "Stargazer" ~ You'll be a woman…too.

Written for Simple Sunday @ CPC ~ Featuring the artwork of Darrell Shepard SOMEWHERE OUT THERE "They" say ~ That I ~ the woman Am from Venus And you ~ the man are more from Mars? Two planets that are Known to be ~ Separate and from each other ~ quite far… But we rotate together So well you and I ~ Within the same Solar system ~ In that great big ~ Black sky. We share the same Stars ~ We both know of The moon ~ We watch the sun Burning bright ~ See the Milky Way "bloom". We are separate But not apart ~ For we meet At the middle ~ Cross and join At the heart ~ Where we drink From a fountain Of love overflowing ~ Like stars in the night ~ Or the moon softly Glowing ~ Holding hands ~ We soar through space Wise and knowing. We will not disappear Within that dark black hole of space ~ But we'll melt together So well that no seams Can be traced ~ A new planet we'll form ~ That is fragile yet strong ~ Where together we'll sing our own sweet silly love song ~ Traveling through That black hole Like a tunnel of Love ~ The universe Surrounding us ~ Down below, All around And high up above. Your Mars and my Venus ~ Will give birth to the "new" ~ We will tumble through space ~ As "one" formed by "two" ~ Emerging at last "Somewhere out there" we'll be ~ Your Mars with my Venus ~ Combined ~ Perfectly.

ONCE BITTEN It is written ~ Love sucks ~ It's such a cold ~ Empty thing ~ Careless romp in the hay ~ Or a meaningless fling… Love bites ~ It snarls ~ It hisses ~ It stings ~ Love can be Vicious and cruel ~ A diseased ~ Rabid thing. Love bites ~ The hand that feeds it ~ Consumes the soul Of one who needs it ~ Like a black widow Spider who feeds On her mate ~ Loves' toxic nature Often poisons and And seals ~ Its' victims' fates. Dating back to the Day that boy First met girl ~ "I double dog dare ya ~ to kiss her and yank on her curls" ~ Right up to the plea : "Please marry me ~ I love you so much I could die " ~ The answer? "Gee ~ this is all so sudden ~ I'm not sure ~ but I can't ~ I don't even know why!" Love bites and leaves Permanent scars ~ That never fade away ~ But there are suckers Born every minute ~ Of each and every day ~ Casting all caution To the wind ~ In spite of the price There might be to pay ~ Ignoring the words of Those who have been there ~ Deaf to all that those "wise men" say ~ Falling head over heels In love ~ Wearing hopeful hearts Upon their sleeves ~ Daring to take the risk ~ Wanting so much to Believe ~ This time they will find The kind of love ~ They never found before ~ Their lonely hearts Will find ~"THE ONE" ~ And lonely ~ They will be ~ No more. Love bites ~ And nibbles tenderly ~ Excites the senses ~ Warms the skin ~ Falling victim to it's Hungry lips ~ Can be a most delicious Thing ~ The paradox of love Lies hidden ~ Like a secret ~ Deep within ~ For those who choose To play the game ~ Best be aware Once you are bitten You can ~both lose or win.

WRITTEN FOR CPC ~ WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS ~ SPRING!!!

THE CROCUS ARMY Warm temperatures were coming ~ Oh joy ~ Thank God ~ The people said ~ But it's only the middle of February ~ It's still winter I sighed ~ Sadly shaking my head. I remembered the travesty ~ unseasonable temperatures last year caused ~ A few warm days of sunshine ~ Made the flow of nature pause ~ Made the crocus fret and panic ~ Had they missed the call for Spring? Tucked deep beneath earths' Snowy blanket ~ Had they slept too long? Missing everything? So that was why they rushed and hurried ~ To poke their heads out ~ Dashed and scurried ~ By the very next day ~ All lay dead ~ Completely buried ~ Those purples ~Yellows ~ Orange-golds ~ Frozen stiff beneath cold Februarys' snow. One would think Mother Nature ~ By now should know ~ How cold Father Winters' Icy winds can still blow ~ His bag of tricks not yet empty ~ Februarys' sleet ~ chilling cold ~ Still ready to pounce upon Any green thing ~ That dares to grow. They died bravely ~ (yet foolishly) ~ Those bright precious blooms ~ Silly crocus soldiers ~ That broke through enemy lines … Way too soon! Perhaps the crocus armies that follows ~ Beneath late Marchs' moon ~ Will survive a bit longer ~ To display their bright cheery blooms ~ Before they too ~ Take the "bullet" Surrender and die ~ Making room for summers blossoms ~ That beneath the earth lie.

WRITTEN FOR KOFFEE KLUTCH WITH ROSES ~ TIME

LETTING TIME GO LIGHTLY How far is it still? How long will it take? Children can't understand ~ And they don’t try to fake ~ Are we there yet? They cry ~ Impatient tears in their eyes! Miles mean nothing to them ~ Minutes and hours much less ~ Their minds try to compute ~ But it's really hopeless ~ When they finally ~DO arrive ~ Their young eyes are filled with delight ~ and surprise. Time is a mystery still ~ Too advanced for young minds ~ But give them ~ "just five" minutes more ~ And they'll dash cross that line ~ Requesting 5 minutes more and Then ten and then twenty ~ No conception have they ~ What's not enough or what's plenty! They grow ~ much like I did ~ Sometimes stifling a yawn ~ Between racing through life And "doing nothing" they're torn ~ At times bored when they have Too much time on their hands ~ Stressed and anxious when their time ~ runs out before planned. No inkling have they yet ~ What the Grim Reaper "reaps" No worries ~ no cares ~ As they hang with their "peeps" ~ Unaware how time cleverly Crawls up and creeps ~ Sweeping adulthood ~ then old age Right over their feet. When they arrive ~ where I've Already been ~ I will smile ~ If I'm here ~ And declare it a sin ~ This passing of time ~ All the rushing ~ the haste ~ To move it quickly along ~ To maintain such a pace ~ Pushing and pulling with Unbridled fear ~ Always thinking we'll never ~ ~ get "here" or get "there"…. Here…where I am now ~ And "here" where I'll stay ~ Welcoming time ~ no longer trying to ~ "push and pull it away"! I let time go lightly (*) In these ~ my "senior" years ~ I let it rest and alight ~ When it beckons ~ I cheer. I put on my shoes ~ And take time by the hand ~ Open to all that is waiting And all that is planned ~ One foot at a time ~ I step out the door ~ I let time go lightly for ~ Eager I am ~ to explore ~ All that's waiting out there And calling my name ~ I let time go lightly ~ Playing by new rules ~ Lifes' fun ~ fickle game. Are we there yet? I could not care less ~ How much longer? Surely you jest? I'll get there whenever My feet will arrive ~ Letting time go lightly ~ I plan to ~ prosper and thrive ~ Finding joy wherever Joy will be found ~ Letting time go lightly? Dear Harry ~ The concept? Profound! (*) This is the title of a song by a singer and songwriter of the seventies ~ by the name of Harry Chapin. The man and his music …were both profound. Ironically…his life was cut short in his prime…and sadly he too… ran out of time.
