THE JOKE'S ON ME
I'm in the mood to write a poem today There's just a mental block in my way Maybe my head will come out of this fog Look at that lily pad sitting on a frog Well that sure didn't make any sense I suppose cause I'm feeling kinda dense Is this what they all call writers block? I know what it is, I must be in shock Me, with no good ideas in my head Hell, I might as well go back to bed

LABOR OF LOVE

LAUNDRY day was not all that much fun
Wash and hang on the LINE until it's done
Clothes PINS keep everything secure and safe
Outside playing, the SUNSHINE lights up my face
Mom says get the BASKET to bring in the clothes
Dad asks us later, did she use STARCH on my clothes?
Well I suppose it really was kind of a fun time in my LIFE
Now it is simply a labor of love as a mother and a wife

My laundry is hanging on my clothesline
Looking from my window it feels so fine
Knowing I've got all of my laundry done
Secure and drying in the bright shiny sun
It feels so soft and smells so much better
I have time to sit down and write a long letter

SCRUB A DUB DUB

My poor ancestors had to use this thing
Scrub a dub dub wash them and wring
It's the only way they had clean clothes
How they did this all day I'll never know
They were a whole lot stronger back then
Thank God when I was born washers were in

If so would you throw it to me in plenty of time?
Thank God for a lifeline to help me out of danger
I'd hug you so tight even if you were a stranger
Lifelines are a real life saving wonderful invention
Just please when you're swimming pay full attention
