As I let go of my feelings of guilt, I am in touch with my inner sociopath.
I have the power to channel my imagination into ever-soaring levels of suspicion and paranoia.
I assume full responsibility for my actions, except the ones that are someone else's fault.
I no longer need to punish, deceive, or compromise myself, unless I want to stay employed
In some cultures what I do would be considered normal.
Having control over myself is almost as good as having control over others.
My intuition nearly makes up for my lack of self-judgment.
I honour my personality flaws for without them I would have no personality at all.
Joan of Arc heard voices, too.
I am grateful that I am not as judgmental as all those censorious, self-righteous people around me.
I need not suffer in silence while I can still moan, whimper and complain.
As I learn the innermost secrets of people around me, they reward me in many ways to keep me quiet.
When someone hurts me, I know that forgiveness is cheaper than a lawsuit, but not nearly as gratifying.
The first step is to say nice things about myself. The second, to do nice things for myself. The third, to find someone to buy me nice things.
As I learn to trust the universe, I no longer need to carry a gun.
All of me is beautiful, even the ugly, stupid and disgusting parts.
I am at one with my duality.
Blessed are the flexible, for they can tie themselves into knots.
Only a lack of imagination saves me from immobilizing myself with imaginary fears.
I honour and express all facets of my being, regardless of state and local laws.
Today I will gladly share my experience and advice, for there are no sweeter words than "I told you so!"
False hope is better than no hope at all.
A good scapegoat is almost as good as a solution.
Why should I waste my time reliving the past when I can spend it worrying about the future?
The complete lack of evidence is the surest sign that the conspiracy is working.
I am learning that criticism is not nearly as effective as sabotage.
Becoming aware of my character defects leads me naturally to the next step of blaming my parents.
To have a successful relationship, I must learn to make it look like I'm giving as much as I'm getting.
I am willing to make the mistakes if someone else is willing to learn from them.
Before I criticize a man, I walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot. Current Mood: Amused

Through the window of the Cafe where I sat this morning. I saw a middle aged couple walking by, heading for the beach. They, especially the woman, looked like a red Indian, and no doubt must be in great physical pain. Year after year during summer, I often marvel at seeing so many people with their skin a crimson red, looking like an overcooked lobster, and their faces showing the pain they suffer silently, almost heroically. Yet, under their arms they are still carrying the beach-mat and other paraphernalia they need making for the beach, again, with the self deceiving belief that, using heavier dose of sun cream their skin would get used to the sun after exposing it a couple more times. More than talking about the biology of the skin, it's really the sociology we are dealing with, that the suntan, apart from being considered sign of health and beauty, stands for an elevated self esteem and higher social class. Because you have to have free time, and plenty of it, to be able to get brown on the beach instead of slaving in the work places. This also means that you have enough economic means to do so. Not that going to the beach costs much money, but not working and therefore not earning does.
There's also that hidden psychology, that satisfaction you feel when you write those 'Wish you were here' postcards at the beach to your friends perspiring in their jobs. To culminate all that and sum up your privileged capability of having been lazing away a couple of weeks at the beach, must be rather smug, and what better proof is there than showing off your well tanned skin? You might even be quite aware of the harm too much sun could cause, including the dreaded skin cancer, which has increased steadily over the years, now to an alarming figure. The sacrifice is too huge for upholding the false cultural value that brown is beautiful. That is only a man-made standard encouraged by the commercial industry, the hundreds of sun products, the before and after creams, sprays and lotions, the eye masks, the lip balms, etc, etc. Not all that many years ago, the elegant pale skin was fashionable for a long time, and all face powders come in white only. Sun soaked skin labels you as of peasant class, having to labour under the sun for a living. I do think there is a happy and healthy middle path solution to avoid serious damage to the skin. When you can't see your own shadow, or when your shadow is shorter than your height. Hide from the sun. If you are not totally convinced about all this, stand in front of a long mirror, holding another hand-mirror, turn and take a look at your bottom: doesn't the skin there look smooth, young and wrinkle free? Murphy applied for the job as head chef at a very swish restaurant. 'Come to the kitchen and show us what you can do,' said the manager. 'Give me an egg,' said Murphy, 'any size, any colour' - and this was done.
In a trice, our hero grabbed the egg and threw it five feet in the air, caught it on the instep of his right foot, flicked it to his left foot, flicked it onto his left shoulder, shrugged it over to his right shoulder, shrugged it up to his forehead and gently nodded it towards a frying pan on a nearby cooker.
The egg hit the rim of the pan and broke, the contents oozing gently into the fat and the shell dropping into a waste bin.
That's brilliant,' said the manager. 'Can you do it again with 2 eggs?' 'Certainly, sir,' said Murphy, and duly obliged.
Staring at the two sizzling eggs and the shells neatly stowed in the bin, the manager remarked, 'That's the most amazing display I've ever seen.'
'Do I get the job then?' inquired Murphy. 'No,' said the manager, 'you mess about too much.'

With money you can buy a house, but not a home.
With money you can buy a clock, but not time.
With money you can but a bed, but not sleep.
With money you can buy a book, but not knowledge.
With money you can buy a doctor, but not good health.
With money you can buy a position, but not respect.
With money you can buy blood, but not life.
With money you can buy sex, but not love.

I saw Aston Kutcher's new TV character 'Two & A Half Men' replacing Charlie in the previous very popular program. And I thought 'At last, he has matured and become a real actor, not merely depending on his good looks. Years ago, still quite young, playful and weird in his idea of prank, posted a photo of his now ex-wife Demi nude and pregnant, with her enormous tummy, looking supreme, beautiful and stunning. Later she appeared in Twitter with her head shaved bald on one side, but the other half in Punk fashion with a well shaped crest, help from Photoshop no doubt. Ashton Kutcher's handiwork, to delight, or annoy, his near 3 million followers, with nothing better to do than to see what he would come up next about his famous wife. His message with the photo is: "My wife showing her new hair style. What do you think, Boys?" Nearly as sensational as his previous 'art work' and also at Twitter, Demi appeared in Bra & under-panties, at home, ironing a shirt. Doesn't it make you wonder about what kind of mentality this guy had, to continuously exhibit his wife in such a way to anybody who cares to look? Brad Pitt responds to his open question with his advice in the forthcoming issue of the magazine 'Wired' saying: "Don't take pictures of your wife's bottom. It's ridiculous. Take photos of bottoms of wives of others."
But it seems that he has finally grown up. Not a bad actor either. The sequence in the new 'Two and a half men' was in song and dance spectacle, not too bad at all as a comic dancer either. I was surprised. Current Mood: Blah

Amongst the dozens of exhibitions on at the moment, another will be inaugurated tomorrow, in The Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, that records the 20th century through Jazz. From it's birth in the first years of the 20th century, the Jazz has inter-related intimately with the other forms of art like painting, photography and films. Together with cinematography and Rock, Jazz was one of the most important artistic events of the last century. This exhibition will be presented in chronological form the relationship between Jazz and art including literature, not forgetting graphics and animation drawings. (Public and private, of Larry Rivers) CCCB. Or, if you prefer to be right in the middle of live jazz with the dimmed lights and smoky atmosphere, there are countless Jazz clubs in Barcelona, all celebrating with or without the pretext of it being the centennial event. It's not about cloning or clones. In fact it's not even new this idea of services that a couple of Spanish companies had come up with: offering personal and/or domestic assistance to those who have tight work schedule, or prefer to indulge the little free time they have in fun activities rather than mundane daily household chores. They would do just about anything at all you want done for you, for a fee of course. They do mean everything: from filling up your fridge with your daily need, take the dog for a walk, accompanying your children to and from school, arrange and organise your home, making sure you have the right suit and tie for attending the premiere of an opera, feed your budgie, cat or goldfish ... To sending roses to your new conquest or even writing love poems on your behalf ... Long before now there have been similar services offered like personal shopper or trainer, secretary who does a lot more than typing and correspondence, and personal assistants, and the popularly called cleaning ladies, housekeeper, nannies or the type I know best when I lived in Hong Kong, the household servant or maids. The only difference is that the things they will do for you now, depending how much you pay, include a lot more than the basic household chores. These companies claim that they are meticulously thorough, starting with a lengthy first interview to get to know their clients' needs, so that they can do things for you exactly like you would have done had you had the time or energy to do so. Hence the slogan on the advertising 'The other You, The other Me'. I would have thought that if they do things exactly like what I do, I wouldn't have engaged them; I would have expected them to do everything better than I can, to justify or deserve the high charges.
The charges are fixed accordingly, job to job, without an established scale. As a general guide, from €600 to €3,000 per month. I wouldn't have thought there are not too many who can afford to pay €3,000. That would mean the client would have to earn several times that figure. Well that excludes me altogether! The 4th man to have walked on the moon, Alan Bean, has since become a painter. He took the moonwalk in Apollo X11 in 1969. In 1981 he thought his retina had recorded sufficient spectacular images of the stratosphere and decided to take off his space suit for the apron of a painter. He took up the palette and brushes and began to transform the amazing images of what he had the opportunity witnessing to the canvas. Now those who have keen desire to visit the moon, but lacking the capital to realize this dream, can visit the National Museum of Air and Space in Washington (6th & Independence Ave), where Bean's exhibition of paintings was on in 2010 under the title: Alan Bean: Painting Apollo, first artist on another world. The exhibitions presents an ample collection of his work, seen through the ex-astronaut's own eyes, all that he had seen and experienced of that very special and unique space travel. His painting is artistic but of realism, of that virgin planet that we all wonder about.

Custo of Barcelona has designed a very eye catching sail for the boat that's going to take part in the next Regatta World Race, coinciding and celebrating the 134th anniversary of the popular beer Estrella Damm. The Catalan designer Custo Dalmau has already designed a new packaging for this beer, a aluminum monoblock to commemorate the event, as well as the hull and a beautiful sail, with vivid floral motifs, almost 3D, that stand out on the flaming red background. The design is a homage to ecology according to the firm. I know next to nothing about boats. But I do love looking at their beautiful sails. This one is quite modern and outstanding don't you think?
