Crossroads in life

How often we must bear the challenges of life;
The endless roller coaster between happiness and sorrow;
The constant ups and downs of daily strife.
And always the question remains .... why?

Life is not an easy road for most;
It twists and turns with many forks in the road,
Although always, and inevitably, we are given a choice ...

Do we turn to the right ... or the left?
Do we take the high road ... or the low road?
Do we take the easy path ... or the difficult one?

Decisions are not easy for those struggling for direction ...
And sometimes the many choices and signs become overwhelming.

While standing at a crossroads in life,
The urge is to take the most comfortable path;
The road with least resistance ...
The shortest or most traveled route.

And yet, if we've been down that comfortable road before;
Have gleaned its lessons in life, and learned from our experiences;

Do we yet again follow the known?
Or does our destiny lie in another direction?

The fear of the road less traveled is tangible and all too real;
It manifests itself in many ways,
And tends to cloud the issues that might otherwise be clear.

It is in these times of confusion,
That we must seek peace and solitude;

Time to contemplate on our life,
Our experiences and our choices past;
Time to look back, and reflect on what we have learned
Without fear or confusion.

For only each of us knows our own personal thoughts;
Our unique past and personal history;
The experiences that brought us to the crossroads we now face.

We can always learn a small degree from others experiences,
And yet ... no one person can walk in our shoes,
Others know not, the trials and tribulations faced in private ...

For each is individual ... unique ... and personal.

And that is why ... while standing at a crossroads,
Only "we" can formulate the decision for ourselves;
The true direction that lies within;
The choices we must deliberate on with clarity and wisdom.

For it is only through personal reflection,
That we can now choose our destiny;
... Our next adventure;
... And the future we will embrace.

I Dream of a Better World

I dream of a place where I can be understood,

such a place where finally,

I can be myself.

I dream of a place

where people need not be told anymore

what to do,

because they already know it,

because finally,

they’re already guided by their hearts.

I dream of a place

where people can be brothers,

where people can be friends,

where people can be people

and remain to be a people of the sun.

I dream of a place

where I can paint the world

and sing to it my songs;

where I can dance

when I’m filled with joy;

and where I can cry

when I can no longer hold back

my soul.

I dream of a place,

where we all can dream,

and make those dreams come true;

where clouds are as soft

as cotton candies,

and where stars are fireflies

that roam the night;

where children

laugh

and play

and run;

where wings can fly us

’round that magic sky.

Where we don’t have to worry

and where don’t have to wait

for a brighter tomorrow

and a happier today.

Where we can all walk down life’s road

in one direction,

walking hand in hand,

and side by side.

I dream of a place

no further than a step,

of a world

no further than a kiss.

For this world is all we need to have

if we could just

forget,

forgive,

and believe

On meeting and talking to people, bless them in their health, their work, their joy, their relationships to God, themselves, and others. Bless them in their abundance, their finances...bless them in every conceivable way, for such blessings not only sow seeds of healing but one day will spring forth as flowers of joy in the waste places of your own life.

As you walk, bless the city in which you live, its government and teachers, its nurses and street sweepers, its children and bankers, its priests and prostitutes. The minute anyone expresses the least aggression or unkindness to you, respond with a blessing: bless them totally, sincerely, joyfully, for such blessings are a shield which protects them from the ignorance of their misdeed, and deflects the arrow that was aimed at you.

To bless means to wish, unconditionally, total, unrestricted good for others and events from the deepest wellspring in the innermost chamber of your heart: it means to hallow, to hold in reverence, to behold with utter awe that which is always a gift from the Creator. He who is hallowed by your blessing is set aside, consecrated, holy, whole. To bless is yet to invoke divine care upon, to think or speak gratefully for, to confer happiness upon - although we ourselves are never the bestower, but simply the joyfull witnesses of Life's abundance.

To bless all without discrimination of any sort is the ultimate form of giving, because those you bless will never know from whence came the sudden ray of sun that burst through the clouds of their skies, and you will rarely be a witness to the sunlight in their lives.

When something goes completely askew in your day, some unexpected event knocks down your plans and you too also, burst into blessing: for life is teaching you a lesson, and the very event you believe to be unwanted, you yourself called forth, so as to learn the lesson you might balk against were you not to bless it. Trials are blessings in disguise, and hosts of angels follow in their path.

To bless is to acknowledge the omnipresent, universal beauty hidden to material eyes; it is to activate that law of attraction which, from the furthest reaches of the universe, will bring into your life exactly what you need to experience and enjoy.

When you pass a prison, mentally bless its inmates in their innocence and freedom, their gentleness, pure essence and unconditional forgiveness; for one can only be prisoner of one's self-image, and a free man can walk unshackled in the courtyard of a jail, just as citizens of countries where freedom reigns can be prisoners when fear lurks in their thoughts.

When you pass a hospital, bless its patients in their present wholeness, for even in their suffering, this wholeness awaits in them to be discovered. When your eyes behold a man in tears, or seemingly broken by life, bless him in his vitality and joy: for the material senses only present the inverted image of the ultimate splendor and perfection which the inner eye beholds.

It is impossible to bless and to judge at the same time. So hold constantly as a deep, hallowed, intoned thought that desire to bless, for truly then shall you become a peacemaker, and one day you shall, everywhere, behold the very face of God

The Bond of Love

Love is the joy that comes from the heart.
Love is the sorrow when two are apart.
Love is the sharing of life's ups and downs.
The moments of laughter, the tears and the frowns.
Love is the giving of all we possess.
Our hopes, our dreams, not more and not less.
Love is our life which we willingly share.
Unselfish sacrifice and loving care.
Love is the bond that seals on's life
With family, friends, a husband or wife

Lost to the world

Lost to the world, in love of course, two people hand in hand.
Wandering together in a private wonderland.
Don't expect an answer if you stop to ask the way.
They'll never even notice you or hear a word you say.
Lost to the World, adrift among the crowds, so young, so foolish.
It's cold and raining,
but for them its a lovely day.
The mundane world has changed into a paradise for two.
Nothing matters, only this, the dream that's coming true.
Life brings lovers down to earth with its icy blast.
So leave them in their little heaven while, the magic lasts

Rainbow Of Promise

God hung a rainbow in the sky for me today.

A sign of his promise to us.
He made a covenant with us to send us all that we need,
to fulfill the desires of our hearts, to manifest our dream. And all we have to do is be willing to receive it. to know we are worthy of it, to know we deserve it.

Too many times we block ourselves from receiving God's love

and abundance because we believe ourselves to be undeserving and unworthy of this bounty. And that is not his judgment but merely our own

A Forever Friend

Sometimes in life you find a special friend;
Someone who changes your life
just by being part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;
Someone who makes you believe
that there really is good in the world.
Someone who convinces you
that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.

This is Forever Friendship.
When you're down, and the world seems dark and empty,
Your forever friend lifts you up in spirit and makes that dark and empty world
suddenly seem bright and full.
Your forever friend gets you through
the hard times, the sad times, and the confused times.
If you turn and walk away, your forever friend follows.
If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you
and cheers you on.

Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that
everything is going to be okay.
And if you find such a friend, you feel happy and complete,
because you need not worry.
You have a forever friend for life,
and forever has no end.

Blessings:
May your thoughts lead you often
to some quiet and restful place.
May you meet each new tomorrow
with a smile upon your face.
May you reach the star you aim for
and may your dreams all come true,
And where ever life takes you
may happiness always be with you.

MY HAND IN GOD'S

Each morning when I wake I say,
"I place my hand in God's today;"
I know He'll walk close by my side
My every wandering step to guide.

He leads me with the tenderest care
When paths are dark and I despair--
No need for me to understand
If I but hold fast to His hand.

My hand in His! No surer way
to walk in safety through each day.
By His great bounty I am fed;
Warmed by His love, and comforted.

When at day's end I seek my rest
And realize how much I'm blessed,
My thanks pour out to Him; and then
I place my hand in God's again.

THIS IS MY PRAYER

Bless me, heavenly Father,
forgive my erring ways,
Grant me strength to serve Thee,
put purpose in my days...

Give me understanding,
enough to make me kind
So I may judge all people
with my heart and not my mind...

And teach me to be patient
in everything I do,
Content to trust Your Wisdom
and to follow after You...

And help me when I falter
and hear me when I pray.
And receive me in Thy Kingdom
to dwell with Thee some day.
THE GREAT ARTIST

His canvas is the whole wide world,
The brush, His mighty hand,
His palette made up beautifully -
He's the Teacher in command.

His clouds are white and billowy
With a hint of pink and gray,
He paints each slender blade of grass
To make a perfect day.

The flowers are carefully tinted
In shades of red and blue.
The water added, so to match
The sky of azure hue.

Surely such a picture
Could only have been planned
And brought before our very eyes
By God's artistic hand

HELLO GOD

Hello God, I called tonight
To talk a little while...
I need a friend who'll listen
To my anxiety and trial.
You see, I can't quite make it
Through a day just on my own...
I need your love to guide me,
So I'll never feel alone.
I want to ask you please to keep,
My family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence
For whatever fate they're bound.
Give me faith, Dear God, to face
Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things
I can't change in any way.
I thank you God, for being home
And listening to my call.
For giving me such good advice
When I stumble and fall.
Your number, God, is the only one,
That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal,
Never had to pay a dime.
So thank you God for listening
To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love You, too,
And I'll call again tomorrow!

Journey to Heaven

I am going on a journey
To a place I long to go
A land that’s filled with angels
Where the peaceful valleys flow.

I have no need for luggage
So I plan to travel light
A first-class trip to heaven
It’s a non-returning flight.

There won’t be tears of sadness
Sweet blessings I will reap
A torch will burn eternal
And the soul doth never sleep.

I do not need an auto
There is no bus or train
My journey is predestined
And I won’t be back again.

No need for food or shelter
Everything I need is there
My home that lies in heaven
Is a joy beyond compare.

I am ready for my venture
Got the voucher in my hand
I’m bound for Zion glory
In that far-off distant land.

I am headed for that City
My flight was paid for me
To a land of peace and beauty
Just beyond the crystal sea.

I soon will have my ticket
There is no need to pack
On a one-way trip to heaven
And I won’t be coming back

Relationships
Posted On 03/19/2011 07:42:53

Each of us rightfully deserves loving relationships in our lives. As humans we are social creatures. Even those who chose to isolate themselves from humanity, cannot avoid depending on others for support in some way. The very act of eating food connects us to an amazing chain of people. From the farmer to the grocer, numerous people have contributed to our act of eating. Supportive, nourishing human relationships are one of the greatest healing agents we can expose ourselves too. Regardless if they are kept clean and fed, many of us know infants die early on if they are not properly loved and held. Right up until our dying breath, we benefit from loving contact with those around us.

Too often, many of our human relationships become battlegrounds and erode these loving ties. Previous experiences of neglect and abuse cause us to mistrust, hate, or fear those around us. Our inability to forgive and forget, to love others unconditionally, to be flexible, and to be free of heavy expectations and control issues, erode even the most promising relationships over time. After each disappointment in relationships we may run from person to person, from counselor to counselor, seeking some salving balm to heal our disappointment and anxiety. Looking out into the world at the mass amount of crime and suffering, we may lose our trust in human relationships and believe loving relationships can only be found in make believe and fairy tales.

One day it may occur to us to attempt a new way of relating. Instead of seeking out there, for the perfect partner, we undertake the mysterious process of learning to love ourselves. This involves a series of steps of cultivating attitudes of unconditional positive acceptance of who we are. At the same time, it requires a cultivation of wisdom which can continue to encourage us to become more and more who we desire to be. With the release of each layer of judgment, expectation, and condemnation, we gradually learn to open our hearts towards ourselves. We are not perfect, but as I once heard, “I’m not OK, you’re not OK, and that’s OK.” Meaning even those aspects of ourselves which we might have condemned are excepted. They are there. And that is OK, until time and space can help us to be different.

As the journey of self-acceptance bears results, something mysterious happens in our relationships towards others. After assuming others needed to change to meet our needs, we now discover that as we transform into loving human beings, others can not help but respond. Yes, the spouse may still be unaffectionate at times, the children forgetful, our co-workers insensitive. But as we react to these incidents with understanding and compassion, versus judgment and indignation, they begin to respond in kind. The spouse starts to feel bad over being inattentive. The children resolve to try harder next time. The co-workers begin to wonder if there is not something about us they had better pay more attention to. As the ocean wears away even the tallest mountain, day by day, our radiant capacity to love, erodes in others their fears, and hatreds, and anxieties.

It is an ancient spiritual truth found in many religious traditions that we should love others as ourselves. As children we deserved that love, even if we did not receive it. As adults it is never too late to make the commitment to ourselves, to start to love, cherish, understand, and respect ourselves anew. Though the truth of it is almost trite, it remains a basic fundamental in our lives. Love is the answer. Loving intelligently and wisely is our ultimate reason for existing. Embrace this each and every day, and over time, you cannot help but reap the results.

True friendship
Posted On 03/19/2011 07:29:07
True friendship is like the morning mist,
That covers every hill and plain,
That "freshens" every flower kissed,
Restores it's fragrance once again.

True friendship is like the golden sun,
That softly chases night away,
That signals each new day begun,
Warms and brightens come what may.

True friendship is like a gentle breeze,
That cools a "torrid" summer day,
Len’s it's comfort and it's ease,
Provides safe haven from the fray.

True friendship is like the brilliant host,
That lights up heaven's vast array,
The star that seems to shine the most,
Gives guiding light along your way.

True friendship is like a treasure rare,
Worth far more than jewels or gold,
It's value is beyond compare,
It's essence can't be bought or sold.

Seek not true friendship in shallow things,
Like looks or talents, wealth and fame,
True friendship’s not found in diamond rings,
Or infatuation's "fickle" games.

True friendship is found deep in the soul,
Emerges in one "glorious strain",
Adds to the half-note, makes it whole,
Completes the symphonies refrain.

In each person’s heart there burns a fire,
That gives to a forceful shove,
Lights in the soul a deep desire,
To seek and find true friendships.

Of all folk I am truly blessed,
For my true friends have graced my life,
With Friendships more than I could have wished,.
Always by my side.

And through our many tiring years,
These friendships God sent from above,
Has shared with me my joys and tears,
Has proved to be my own true friends.

My true friends will always be,
From now until eternity,
Friendships loving touch I'll always feel,
And thank the Lord that your there for me..

A Womans Work
Posted On 03/19/2011 07:10:31

[womans work.jpg]

One afternoon a man came home from work to find total mayhem in his house. His three children were outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard.
The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess.
A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.
In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.
He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she may be ill, or that something serious had happened. He found her lounging in the bedroom, still curled in bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.
He looked at her bewildered and asked,
"What happened here today?"
She again smiled and answered,
"You know every day when you come home from work and ask me what in the world did I do today?"
"Yes" was his incredulous reply.
She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it!!!"

Love’s about
Posted On 03/19/2011 05:31:37

Love isn’t just charming, but also most disarming, as it can catch you by surprise — yes, for round you it will sneak, and from behind some disguise will peek, and before you realise, mischievously surprise, or perhaps your attention seek.
Sometimes it may hide behind a little gift, one that your sagging spirits will lift, or it’ll grab you around your middle and squeeze, which will invariably please, for it’s the affectionate kind, the kind that says, “I love you,” and, “Just thought I’d remind.”
Oh, it’s so impishly playful, inexhaustible, but in a delightful way, for its intentions are pure, and its surprises reassure, as only nice things they convey. It simply can’t help itself, can’t be anything but itself, hence its acts of kindness that bring joy, brighten and buoy, and its appearances via a stunning rainbow, a home-grown flower show, or any other means it chooses to employ.
Love cheerily appears in many forms, an encouraging word, a chirpy little bird, a lap snoozing pet, a gloriously inspiring sunset, a lingering kiss or hug, a cute little ladybird bug, a bubbling brook, an enjoyable uplifting book, a turn on a swing, blossoms in Spring, pleasant moments we share, a gorgeous big soft teddy bear.
Yes, love seeks to please, and moments will seize, in order to surprise, delight, enthral, thrill, beguile — be that via a friendly wave, a little note, an encouraging quote, an unexpected visit, a helping hand, or a pleasant smile. Or be that via a favourite cake, cooing sounds that it may make, a warming drink, an approving wink, a happy tune, a starry night and wide-eyed moon. Or maybe via a welcoming bark, a cosy stroll in the dark, an amusing sight, a special invite, or dinner for two by candlelight.
Yes, love simply can’t help itself, can’t be anything but itself, hence its busy activity, those acts that occur spontaneously, intentionally, consistently or randomly, and those joyously concealed (but sometime, somewhere revealed) surprises — and oh, how each one so aptly characterises love’s amazing creativity and endearing artistry.
So, watch out, love’s about

There's this place I go when I'm sad, angry, frustrated, need inspiration or just plain in the need for solitude. It's a very beautiful place, serene, quiet, isolated and inspiring. I carry it around with me all the time, very rarely do I care to visit. In fact all of us have and know about this place.

The walls speak to me and tell me what to do, the darkness embraces me and gives me all the love I need and this place always has treasure but I have to find the treasure myself, the value of this treasure is far more then any other
. The trees wipe my tears and make me laugh as they whisper into my ear, their observations of life, they are so optimistic. They let me pluck one fruit from their body, the fruit that gives me inspiration. The scent of this place always manages to comfort me, the smell of warmth.

Where is this place? It's in far away land, so far yet so close. So beautiful but, how many of us visit it even though it belongs to us? How many of us care to take that extra step to enter this place, the enchanted place.
..

The enchanted place,
within us,
the enchanted place,
our brain,
when do we care to go,
one to one,
the enchanted place,
have you made time to meditate?

Cookies

He arrived with golden wings
And knocked upon my door.
I couldn't wait to answer it
So I ran across the floor.
He asked if he could come inside
And spend a little time.
I offered him a cup of tea,
But from the tap he poured some wine.
He opened up my cookie jar
But only took out two,
From that he made a loaf of bread
And the most delicious homemade stew.
He asked me to come with him
And kneel upon the rug.
He wrapped his wings around me,
I never felt such love.
He talked to me for hours
And made me feel divine.
I asked if I could go with him,
But he said it's not my time.
He tucked me into bed that night
And talked about our souls.
How he always looks after them
When from this life we go.
He asked one simple favour
For his journey that was far,
Could he take another cookie,
From the pretty cookie jar?
When I awoke next morning
On my pillow I did weep.
The most precious moment of my life,
Was a dream. I was asleep.
I walked into the kitchen
My eyes still full of tears,
A note beside my cookie jar read,
"To let you know I'm always here

SALT
Posted On 03/19/2011 05:27:16

Although you may not realize it, simple table salt has a great number of uses other than simply seasoning your food. The following list will give you sixty uses of salt, many of which you probably didn’t realize:

Soak stained hankies in salt water before washing.
Sprinkle salt on your shelves to keep ants away.
Soak fish in salt water before descaling; the scales will come off easier.
Put a few grains of rice in your salt shaker for easier pouring.
Add salt to green salads to prevent wilting…
Test the freshness of eggs in a cup of salt water; fresh eggs sink; bad ones float.
Add a little salt to your boiling water when cooking eggs; a cracked egg will stay in its shell this way.
A tiny pinch of salt with egg whites makes them beat up fluffier.
Soak wrinkled apples in a mildly salted water solution to perk them up.
Rub salt on your pancake griddle and your flapjacks won’t stick.
Soak toothbrushes in salt water before you first use them; they will last longer.
Use salt to clean your discolored coffee pot.
Mix salt with turpentine to whiten you bathtub and toilet bowl.
Soak your nuts in salt brine overnight and they will crack out of their shells whole. Just tap the end of the shell with a hammer to break it open easily.
Boil clothespins in salt water before using them and they will last longer.
Clean brass, copper and pewter with paste made of salt and vinegar, thickened with flour
Add a little salt to the water your cut flowers will stand in for a longer life.
Pour a mound of salt on an ink spot on your carpet; let the salt soak up the stain.
Clean your iron by rubbing some salt on the damp cloth on the ironing surface.
Adding a little salt to the water when cooking foods in a double boiler will make the food cook faster.
Use a mixture of salt and lemon juice to clean piano keys.
To fill plaster holes in your walls, use equal parts of salt and starch, with just enough water to make a stiff putty.
Rinse a sore eye with a little salt water.
Mildly salted water makes an effective mouthwash. Use it hot for a sore throat gargle.
Dry salt sprinkled on your toothbrush makes a good tooth polisher.
Use salt for killing weeds in your lawn.
Eliminate excess suds with a sprinkle of salt.
A dash of salt in warm milk makes a more relaxing beverage.
Before using new glasses, soak them in warm salty water for awhile.
A dash of salt enhances the taste of tea. ?
Salt improves the taste of cooking apples.
Soak your clothes line in salt water to prevent your clothes from freezing to the line; likewise, use salt in your final rinse to prevent the clothes from freezing.
Rub any wicker furniture you may have with salt water to prevent yellowing.
Freshen sponges by soaking them in salt water.
Add raw potatoes to stews and soups that are too salty.
Soak enamel pans in salt water overnight and boil salt water in them next day to remove burned-on stains.
Clean your greens in salt water for easier removal of dirt.
Gelatin sets more quickly when a dash of salt is added.
Fruits put in mildly salted water after peeling will not discolor.
Fabric colors hold fast in salty water wash…
Milk stays fresh longer when a little salt is added.
Use equal parts of salt and soda for brushing your teeth.
Sprinkle salt in your oven before scrubbing clean.
Soaked discolored glass in a salt and vinegar solution to remove stains..
Clean greasy pans with a paper towel and salt.
Salty water boils faster when cooking eggs.
Add a pinch of salt to whipping cream to make it whip more quickly.
Sprinkle salt in milk-scorched pans to remove odor.
A dash of salt improves the taste of coffee…
Boil mismatched hose in salty water and they will come out matched.
Salt and soda will sweeten the odor of your refrigerator.
Cover wine-stained fabric with salt; rinse in cool water later.
Remove offensive odors from stove with salt and cinnamon.
A pinch of salt improves the flavor of cocoa.
To remove grease stains in clothing, mix one part salt to four parts alcohol.
Salt and lemon juice? Removes mildew.
Sprinkle salt between sidewalk bricks where you don’t want grass growing.
Polish your old kerosene lamp with salt for a better look.
Remove odors from sink drainpipes with a strong, hot solution of salt water.
If a pie bubbles over in your oven, put a handful of salt on top of the spilled juice. The mess won’t smell and will bake into a dry, light crust which will wipe off easily when the oven has cooled

Loving God

Rapture

I try to hold on to this world with everything I have
But I feel the weight of what it brings, and the hurt that tries to grab
The many trials that seem to never end, His word declares this truth,
that we will enter in this rest with wonders anew

But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings
That there will be a place with no more suffering

There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears

There will be a day when the burdens of this place, will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face
But until that day, we’ll hold on to you always

I know the journey seems so long
You feel your walking on your own
But there has never been a step
Where you’ve walked out all alone

Troubled soul don’t lose your heart
Cause joy and peace he brings
And the beauty that’s in store
Outweighs the hurt of life’s sting.

I can’t wait until that day where the very one I’ve lived for always will wipe away the sorrow that I’ve faced
To touch the scars that rescued me from a life of shame and misery this is why this is why I sing….

There will be a day with no more tears, no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place, will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face

There will be a day, He’ll wipe away the stains, He’ll wipe away the tears, He’ll wipe away the tears…..there will be a day

Once upon a time
Posted On 03/19/2011 05:06:35

Once upon a time there was a Little Soul who said to God, "I know who I am!"

And God said, "That's wonderful! Who are you?"
And the Little Soul shouted, "I'm the Light!"
God smiled a big smile, "That's right!" God exclaimed. "You are the Light."
The Little Soul was so happy, for it had figured out what all the souls in the Kingdom were there to figure out. "Wow," said the Little Soul, "this is really cool!"
But soon, knowing who it was was not enough. The Little Soul felt stirrings inside, and now wanted to be who it was. And so the Little Soul went back to God (which is not a bad idea for all souls who want to be Who They Really Are) and said, "Hi, God! Now that I know Who I Am, is it okay for me to be it?"
And God said, "You mean you want to be Who You Already Are?
"Well," replied the Little Soul, "it's one thing to know Who I Am, and another thing altogether to actually be it. I want to feel what it's like to be the Light!"
"But you already are the Light," God repeated, smiling again.
"Yes, but I want to see what that feels like!" cried the Little Soul.
"Well," said God with a chuckle, "I suppose I should have known. You always were the adventuresome one." Then God's expression changed. "There's only one thing..."
"What?" asked the Little Soul.
"Well, there is nothing else but the Light. You see, I created nothing but what you are; and so, there is no easy way for you to experience yourself as Who You Are, since there is nothing that you are not."
"Huh?" said the Little Soul, who was not a little confused.
"Think of it this way," said God. "You are like a candle in the Sun. Oh, you're there all right. Along with a million, ka-gillion other candles who make up the Sun. And the sun would not be the Sun without you. Nay, it would be a sun without one of its candles...and that would not be the Sun at all; for it would not shine as brightly. Yet, how to know yourself as the Light when you are amidst the Light--that is the question."
"Well," the Little Soul perked up, "you're God. Think of something!"

Once more God smiled. "I already have," God said. "Since you cannot see yourself as the Light when you are in the Light, we'll surround you with darkness."
"What's darkness?" the Little Soul asked.
God replied, "It is that which you are not."
"Will I be afraid of the dark?" cried the Little Soul.
"Only if you choose to be," God answered. "There is nothing, really, to be afraid of, unless you decide that there is. You see, we are making it all up. We are pretending."
"Oh," said the Little Soul, and felt better already.
Then God explained that, in order to experience anything at all, the exact opposite of it will appear.
"It is a great gift," God said, "because without it, you could not know what anything is like. You could not know Warm without Cold, Up without Down, Fast without Slow. You could not know Left without Right, Here without There, Now without Then."
"And so," God concluded, "when you are surrounded with darkness, do not shake your fist and raise your voice and curse the darkness. Rather be a Light unto the darkness, and don't be mad about it. Then you will know Who You Really Are, and all others will know, too. Let your Light shine so that everyone will know how special you are!"
"You mean it's okay to let others see how special I am?" asked the Little Soul.
"Of course!" God chuckled. "It's very okay! But remember, 'special' does not mean 'better.' Everybody is special, each in their own way! Yet many others have forgotten that. They will see that it is okay for them to be special only when you see that it is okay for you to be special."
"Wow," said the Little Soul, dancing and skipping and laughing and jumping with joy. "I can be as special as I want to be!"
"Yes, and you can start right now," said God, who was dancing and skipping and laughing right along with the Little Soul.
"What part of special do you want to be?"
"What part of special?" the Little Soul repeated. "I don't understand."
"Well," God explained, "being the Light is being special, and being special has a lot of parts to it. It is special to be kind. It is special to be gentle. It is special to be creative. It is special to be patient. Can you think of any other ways it is special to be?"
The Little Soul sat quietly for a moment. "I can think of lots of ways to be special!" the Little Soul then exclaimed. "It is special to be helpful. It is special to be sharing. It is special to be friendly. It is special to be considerate of others!"
"Yes!" God agreed, "and you can be all of those things, or any part of special you wish to be, at any moment. That's what it means to be the Light."
"I know what I want to be, I know what I want to be!" the Little Soul announced with great excitement. "I want to be the part of special called 'forgiving'. Isn't it special to be forgiving?"
"Oh, yes," God assured the Little Soul. "That is very special."
"Okay," said the Little Soul. "That's what I want to be. I want to be forgiving. I want to experience myself as that."
"Good," said God, "but there's one thing you should know."
The Little Soul was becoming a bit impatient now. It always seemed as though there were some complication.
"What is it?" the Little Soul sighed.
"There is no one to forgive."
"No one?" The Little Soul could hardly believe what had been said.
"No one!" God repeated. "Everything I have made is perfect. There is not a single soul in all creation less perfect than you. Look around you."
It was then that the Little Soul realized a large crowd had gathered. Souls had come from far and wide ~ from all over the Kingdom ~ for the word had gone forth that the Little Soul was having this extraordinary conversation with God, and everyone wanted to hear what they were saying. Looking at the countless other souls gathered there, the Little Soul had to agree. None appeared less wonderful, less magnificent, or less perfect than the Little Soul itself. Such was the wonder of the souls gathered around, and so bright was their Light, that the Little Soul could scarcely gaze upon them.
"Who, then, to forgive?" asked God.
"Boy, this is going to be no fun at all!" grumbled the Little Soul. "I wanted to experience myself as One Who Forgives. I wanted to know what that part of special felt like."
And the Little Soul learned what it must feel like to be sad. But just then a Friendly Soul stepped forward from the crowd.
"Not to worry, Little Soul," the Friendly Soul said, "I will help you."
"You will?" the Little Soul brightened. "But what can you do?"
"Why, I can give you someone to forgive!"
"You can?"
"Certainly!" chirped the Friendly Soul. "I can come into your next lifetime and do something for you to forgive."
"But why? Why would you do that?" the Little Soul asked. "You, who are a Being of such utter perfection! You, who vibrate with such a speed that it creates a Light so bright that I can hardly gaze upon you! What could cause you to want to slow down your vibration to such a speed that your bright Light would become dark and dense? What could cause you ~ who are so light that you dance upon the stars and move through the Kingdom with the speed of your thought--to come into my life and make yourself so heavy that you could do this bad thing?"
"Simple," the Friendly Soul said. "I would do it because I love you."
The Little Soul seemed surprised at the answer.
"Don't be so amazed," said the Friendly Soul, "you have done the same thing for me. Don't you remember? Oh, we have danced together, you and I, many times. Through the eons and across all the ages have we danced. Across all time and in many places have we played together. You just don't remember."
"We have both been All Of It. We have been the Up and the Down of it, the Left and the Right of it. We have been the Here and the There of it, the Now and the Then of it. We have been the male and the female, the good and the bad; we have both been the victim and the villain of it."
"Thus have we come together, you and I, many times before; each bringing to the other the exact and perfect opportunity to Express and to Experience Who We Really Are. And so," the Friendly Soul explained further, "I will come into your next lifetime and be the 'bad one' this time. I will do something really terrible, and then you can experience yourself as the One Who Forgives."
"But what will you do?" the Little Soul asked, just a little nervously, "that will be so terrible?"
"Oh," replied the Friendly Soul with a twinkle, "we'll think of something."
Then the Friendly Soul seemed to turn serious, and said in a quiet voice, "You are right about one thing, you know."
"What is that?" the Little Soul wanted to know.
"I will have to slow down my vibration and become very heavy to do this not-so-nice thing. I will have to pretend to be something very unlike myself. And so, I have but one favor to ask of you in return."
"Oh, anything, anything!" cried the Little Soul, and began to dance and sing, "I get to be forgiving, I get to be forgiving!"
Then the Little Soul saw that the Friendly Soul was remaining very quiet.
"What is it?" the Little Soul asked. "What can I do for you? You are such an angel to be willing to do this for me!"
"Of course this Friendly Soul is an angel!" God interrupted. "Everyone is! Always remember: I have sent you nothing but angels."
And so the Little Soul wanted more than ever to grant the Friendly Soul's request. "What can I do for you?" the Little Soul asked again.
"In the moment that I strike you and smite you," the Friendly Soul replied, "in the moment that I do the worst to you that you could possible imagine ~ in that very moment..."
"Yes?" the Little Soul interrupted, "yes...?"
"Remember Who I Really Am."
"Oh, I will!" cried the Little Soul, "I promise! I will always remember you as I see you right here, right now!"
"Good," said the Friendly Soul, "because, you see, I will have been pretending so hard, I will have forgotten myself. And if you do not remember me as I really am, I may not be able to remember for a very long time. And if I forget Who I Am, you may even forget Who You Are, and we will both be lost. Then we will need another soul to come along and remind us both of Who We Are."
"No, we won't!" the Little Soul promised again. "I will remember you! And I will thank you for bringing me this gift ~ the chance to experience myself as Who I Am."
And so, the agreement was made. And the Little Soul went forth into a new lifetime, excited to be the Light, which was very special, and excited to be that part of special called Forgiveness.
And the Little Soul waited anxiously to be able to experience itself as Forgiveness, and to thank whatever other soul made it possible. And at all the moments in that new lifetime, whenever a new soul appeared on the scene, whether that new soul brought joy or sadness--and especially if it brought sadness--the Little Soul thought of what God had said.
"Always remember," God had smiled, "I have sent you nothing but angels

Mary

This Poem is Dedicated to Mary Wilson who died on Sunday 23rd November 2008.. Good Night My Friend Sleep Tight..

My friend Mary died yesterday. Suddenly, inexplicably, without warning.
Breathing, vibrant, mind churning with life, ideas and wonder.
My friend Mary died yesterday and tore many lives asunder.

A good woman? Yes. God's woman? Only God can say.

Loved by friends and family. Respected by her family and friends.
Loved to laugh, work, sing, debate and play.
My friend Mary died yesturday and I've not released the tears.

The measure of a woman is her wealth of friends and knowledge.

The measure of her heart is what she gives to others.
Her death, to many, is wastefulness and carnage.
My friend Mary died yesterday and I feel I've lost a sister.

Could she have done more? Did she do more than she should?

Who is there to say what matters in a woman€™s life?
Who but God determines that which is evil or good?
My friend Mary died yesterday. So ends her earthly strife.

Life will go on. Flowers will bloom and trees will grow.

The sun will warm and the north wind will blow.
People will work, know sorrow and laughter.
My friend Mary died yesterday and the world seems eerily still.

Hope is not in living, but in leaving this life behind.

The good work is completed when eternal life begins.
Death is not to fear, for it brings us life sublime.
My friend Mary died yesturday. Her earthly suffering is at an end
Now there is one more Angel in Heaven
