I know a lot of us have had some problems understanding how to post images now that we have the new super-dooper box here in which we type and copy/paste our image codes. I think I may have discovered what's happening, especially when it comes to Photobucket images, but also for codes from other sites. First of all, on Photobucket, we are offered 4 different lines of code from which to choose. Before the upgrade, the one(s) that worked were the HTML code or the IMG code. Now, however, copying the Direct Link code seems to be what works (from my trial and error experience). And that needs to be entered by clicking where we want the image to be placed in relation to the text, if any, that we've typed, then clicking on the little tree icon at the top of the text box and pasting the code into where it says Image URL. From other sites, that don't give 4 options for copying the code, one can dissect the code given and just paste, in the same line in the little tree icon box, only the URL shown in the code given. The URL would look like http:// and something after that which tells the site and location where the image is hosted (where you found it). I haven't tested the second option (non-Photobucket codes) but I think that should work. Give this a try..and if I'm fulla beans..let me know! LOL I love all the new cool options we have now, but it's going to take some getting used to. Good luck! And have a GREAT Friday!

A woman went to a pet shop & immediately spotted a large, beautiful parrot.. There was a sign on the cage that said $50.00.
'Why so little,' she asked the pet store owner.
The owner looked at her and said, 'Look, I should tell you first that this bird used to live in a house of Prostitution and sometimes it says some pretty vulgar stuff.'

The woman thought about this, but decided she had to have the bird any way.
She took it home and hung the bird's cage up in her living room and waited for it to say something.
The bird looked around the room, then at her, and said,
'New house, new madam.'

The woman was a bit shocked at the implication, but then thought 'that's really not so bad.'
When her 2 teenage daughters returned from school the bird saw and said,
'New house, new madam, new girls.'
The girls and the woman were a bit offended but then began to laugh about the situation considering how and where the parrot had been raised.
Moments later, the woman's husband Keith came home from work.
The bird looked at him and said,
'Hi, Keith!'

A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire.
Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company.
In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost 'in a series of small fires.'
The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion.
The lawyer sued and WON!
(Stay with me.)
Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous. The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company, which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining w hat is considered to be unacceptable 'fire' and was obligated to pay the claim.
Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the cigars lost in the 'fires'.
NOW FOR THE BEST PART...
After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on
24 counts of ARSON!!!
With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.
This is a true story and was the First Place winner in the recent Criminal Lawyers Award Contest.
ONLY IN AMERICA , NO WONDER THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES THINK WE'RE NUTS!

Now THAT'S a report I'D like to read as our gas prices continue to rise and the cost of this war spirals out of control leaving us with a national debt that's unbelievable!
I received a call this morning from Gene as he was leaving his 6-month leukemia check-up appointment at the V.A. hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His blood counts are all normal and no sign of the cancer returning, thank the Lord! He won’t be able to get online for a while, so he wanted me to let everyone know. Thank you for your prayers on his behalf.
He stopped here in Chicago between trains (the Amtrak stops just blocks from my home here in Summit, IL) Monday night over to Tuesday morning and we had a nice visit. We talked like old friends and it was a relief for both of us to get past that first meeting after our break-up last fall. God is good, and we look forward to many years of a close friendship. My Scottie, Pippen (and Gene’s best bud..LOL) got a walk first time since Gene left here last November. My arthritis keeps me from being able to walk much, so that was a nice treat for Pippen.
I’ve had what seems like the flu since Tuesday but I think it’s over for the most part. Just some achiness left. My one year old grandson, Ismael, is still in the hospital with pneumonia. His oxygen levels haven’t been good yet. Thank you for your prayers. Hopefully I’ll feel better soon and be able to go help my daughter some. She, of course, has been with her son non-stop at the hospital.
Have a wonderful day, and never take one minute of life for granted!
Blessings,
Janet
Ah, to arrive at the point in our lives when we know who we are and are content with ourselves. No longer is there the urge to please or impress. We realize, as the saying goes "those who care don't matter and those who matter don't care" if we're young and beautiful or starting to show our age, if our shape causes heads to turn or is just comfy and curvy.
We revel more in the warmth of relationships that have stood the test of time such as long-time friendships, lifelong partners and loving family. We cherish the sweetness of those newer arrivals in our lives such as grandchildren and, for some of us, the love of a friend, companion, helper and lover who cared to look beyond what the mirror reflects to know and embrace our souls in the autumn of our lives.
True and lasting beauty...and our worth...lie within...and the years can't take that away.
I put a comment on a blog posted yesterday that was a joke about Mexicans. I've held back for some time through the year and a half I've been on Boomer when I am offended by ethnic jokes, but finally couldn't stay silent any longer.
Some seem to find it funny to post derogatory jokes or blogs about those of the Mexican nationality. I just finally got fed-up enough to say something. The joke inferred, from what I understood, that seeing the Mexicans with a motorcycle immediately was interpreted as, not that it was owned by them, but that they must have stolen it. That's stereotyping.
I wish people would not find it necessary here on Boomer to post such things that disparage a particular group of people. I happen to have two children who are 1/2 Mexican from their father's side and two of my grandsons are 3/4 Mexican as their father is 100% Mexican. So you may understand why all this anti-Mexican stuff irritates me.
Since my feelings on this are not so much about that one joke as about jokes in general that poke fun at any particular group of people or blogs that put them down, I thought maybe I should just put my feelings out here publicly in a blog of my own.
Anyway, I expect I'm not going to change anyone's way of thinking. I just felt SOMEONE should speak up so that all those who find these sort of things appropriate can know that not ALL of us feel the way they do, and maybe they might take that into consideration, especially when some of us just might BE Mexican or closely related to one (or any ethnic group of people about whom someone is writing in a derogatory manner).
There's loads of funny stuff out there we can all enjoy, and many subjects one can blog about without stooping to this level. How about we think twice about what we are posting and try to make sure we will not offend?
Thanks for listening to my rant.
Back sometime last year, we heard about our Boomer friend, dejaVu777 (Susan) needing a lung transplant (actually two) and how, in order to get on the list, she is required to do fund-raising to help off-set the costs, some of which are not covered by insurance. At that time there wasn't really any official way to donate, but now I've learned there is, and we have until April 27, 2008 to help make a difference.
Please visit her fund-raising website, Susan Freeman Fund, read her story and, if your heart is moved to do so, please donate to help her out. The donations are via Paypal, are matched dollar for dollar by "Access to Care" at the Georgia Transplant Foundation and are tax deductible. Every little bit helps.
Thank you and God bless,
Janet
