Though it seems it's been around for a few years now (though I'm not sure if it's available in the USA), I'd never heard until today of this product, a new invention to help protect women from rape. It was invented in South Africa where the prevalance of rape AND AIDS is widespread. See the website for more info: Rapex-The Anti-Rape Condom I am interested in hearing what others think about this, both men and women. As for myself, I don't see how it could be a bad thing. A woman has the right to say "NO" and since men often have the notion that "she says 'no' but she means 'yes'" or "it's my right" or simply don't even care about the person on whom they force themselves for their pleasure, I'm thinking this product would be a deterrent, and not only when a rape is taking place. If men knew that this could very well happen to them, they might not be so likely to take a chance on forcing themselves on women. And honestly, I'd love to see this made available to young girls who are victims of incest. God created sex as a beautiful part of a loving and consensual relationship, but it can become a terrible and destructive weapon when misused. Maybe the anti-rape condom would help put a stop to this horrible crime. What do you think?
The answer is his monitor went out sooooo..until he can get a new PC/laptop or whatever, he's incomunicado, unfortunately. Just thought I'd let those who know him in on what's going on with Mr. Easy. Janet

Memorial Day - Theodosia Pickering Garrison A handful of old men walking down the village street In worn, brushed uniforms, their gray heads high; A faded flag above them, one drum to lift their feet- Look again, O heart of mine, and see what passes by!
There's a vast crowd swaying, there's a wild band playing, The streets are full of marching men, or tramping cavalry. Alive and young and straight again, they ride to greet a mate again- The gallant souls, the great souls that live eternally!
A handful of old men walking down the highways? Nay, we look on heroes that march among their peers, The great, glad Companions have swung from heaven's byways And come to join their own again across the dusty years.
There are strong hands meeting, there are staunch hearts greeting- A crying of remembered names, of deeds that shall not die. A handful of old men?-Nay, my heart, look well again; The spirit of America today is marching by!

Memorial Day - Joyce Kilmer The bugle echoes shrill and sweet, But not of war it sings to-day. The road is rhythmic with the feet Of men-at-arms who come to pray.
The roses blossom white and red On tombs where weary soldiers lie; Flags wave above the honored dead And martial music cleaves the sky.
Above their wreath-strewn graves we kneel, They kept the faith and fought the fight. Through flying lead and crimson steel They plunged for Freedom and the Right.
May we, their grateful children, learn Their strength, who lie beneath this sod, Who went through fire and death to earn At last the accolade of God.
In shining rank on rank arrayed They march, the legions of the Lord; He is their Captain unafraid, The Prince of Peace...Who brought a sword.
Oh, my gosh! I received this via e-mail today. I can't believe they made this feature on the boxes and I never noticed. Thought I'd pass this along for anyone else who never knew about this. And yes, I checked the boxes I have here at the house and yep, there it was. Duh!
Aluminum Foil Box
I've been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over.
The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time!
Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, "Press here to lock end". Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up. I'm sharing this hoping I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.

This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up puke laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here". Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted.
This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse. For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T. This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes. This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors. And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football , hockey or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars so that when their kids asked, 'Did you see me, Mom?' they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it.
This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead.
This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the (grand) mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.
This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat.
For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then read it again "Just one more time."
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.
This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.
This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a little voice calls 'Mom?' in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home -- or even away at college.
This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.
This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them.
For all the mothers who bite their lips when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.
For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting.
For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful, and now pray they come home safely from a war.
What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?
Or is it in her heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?
The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?
The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just want to hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home?
Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?
The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation...
And mature mothers learning to let go. For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. Single mothers and married mothers. Mothers with money, mothers without.
This is for you all. For all of us. Hang in there. In the end we can only do the best we can. Tell them every day that we love them. And pray.
"Home is what catches you when you fall. l and we all fall." Please pass this to a wonderful mother you know.

At the risk of looking like I'm trying to flood the blog pages with yet another blog post this morning, I want to share this beautiful and inspirational short web presentation with you. I think you'll find it a wonderful way to start your day...and the rest of your life... The Train of Life Movie

Sometimes I wonder at how different the Lord made men and women and yet we are to live together, hopefully with some semblance of peace. This story is about just that....
Tough Request A biker was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, the Lord said, "Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish." The biker pulled over and said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want." The Lord said, "Your request is materialistic, think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take! It will nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that would honor and glorify me." The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally he said, "Lord, I wish that I could understand my wife. I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, and how I can make a woman truly happy." The Lord replied, "You want two lanes or four on that bridge?"
I woke up this morning to this Yahoo IM message from Easy (Gene): "i fell off the ladder doing outside windows b4 dark last nite and really messed up my rt shoulder waiting for spider to come and take me to va. hurts real bad i rhink it will need surgery callme when you read this thx" So I called right away and he's still home, can't get a hold of his friend, Spider who is his main ride (he can't drive because of his eyesight), to go to the VA hospital, and is waiting for some friends who should be arriving at their cabin sometime this afternoon. Hopefully they can take him. He says he can feel the bone in his collarbone out of place and is in a lot of pain. He can't type very well as he can only use one hand.
Please pray for him. He lives up there all alone and doesn't have anyone to help him at the house on a regular basis. Just wanted to let those of you who know him know what's going on if you don't see him online or responding to comments. Janet (SavedByGrace) Update: I spoke with Gene just now (5:30 pm) and he's still at home. A friend will take him to the VA hospital tomorrow sometime. Fortunately, he has some pain medication that's helping a little bit with the discomfort. When I know anything more, I'll post again. He's reading your comments but can't type to respond, but he thanks you all, as I do.
Update #2: Just spoke with Gene (Sat. 10:30 am). He's at the VA now. Had x-rays and was told by the technician it's his clavicle (collar bone) as he suspected. The tech said they basically wrap him up and send him home, no surgery, which he is pleased about, at least. But that was unauthorized information, not from the doctor, so hope he was right. And, fortunately, his ride waited to see if they'd keep him in the hospital so he'll have a ride home. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and concern!
