Through acrid smoke and falling dust,

They moved through ash on padded paws.
To serve a vital, urgent cause.

No thought of fear, no hesitation,
To seek the lost amid the nation.
With steady heart's and sense's keen,
They draved the darkest, hardest scene.

From Golden Retriever's to Belgian
Shepheard's brave,
They searched the ruin's, resolved to save.
Restoring hope with every scent,
On noble, selfless mission bent.

Though year's have passed and tower's fell,
Their quiet bravery we still tell
The four-legged heroe's of that day,
Who guided hope through shade's of gray.

The morning sky was clear and blue,
An ordinary day We thought We knew.
Then silence broke, the world stood still,
As shadow fell on field and hill.

In moment's brief, Our live's were changed.
The landscape transformed and rearranged.
Yet through the dust and dark despair,
A gentle courage filled the air.

Brave soul's ran in where other's fled,
By duty and by devotion led.
They showed Us what it mean's to stand,
United in a grieving land.

Though year's move on and time flow's by,
We still recall that faded sky.  
For every life and sacrifice,
We hold the memorie's beyond price.

Lest we forget the heart's that fell,
The storie's that we bound to tell.
In quiet thought and honoring grace,
Time will not erase their place.

And so we were forever changed...

That day we watched unspeakable acts of evil unfold.

But we also witnessed incredible courage,
outpourings of human kindness, and fierce solidarity.
