This week due to the problematic issues plaguing My Space, the moderator of Blogophilia, Marvin Martian, from Mars, who I affectionately and respectfully call Mr.. Martian, challenged us to write, instead of the usual blog, either how the new improved My Space may be used to continue the weekly challenge, or to review alternate blog sites, with hopes of finding a new home for a very closely knit community of writers.
Blogophilia is a challenge blog site on My Space; which hebdomadally (this word was a prompt one week) challenges writers and is participated in by a community of bloggers
The format is a topic, two bonus points prompts and a picture
The self challenge I have devised for my self is :
“do as I say not as I do†for topic
use the word “misanthropeâ€
Mention “ping pongâ€
What I have also attempted to incorporate, in a simple fashion, is what we mean by “prompts†I have taken 3 suggestions of mine submitted to Mr.. Martian but never used
This is a sample - and maybe we could take turns each week. The challenge would still exist albeit in a limited fashion. The real Blogophilia utilizes a point system And I am not including a picture in this one as that is Marvin’s specialty and he determines the secret phrase and the points.
The challenge is: to write a blog using the topic and each bonus prompt and also to guess the secret phrase for the picture (the moderator determines the secret phrase)
This blog is a review of MyBoomerPlace. (Don’t have to be a Boomer).The owners of My Space behave in a Do as I say not as I do manner in that they insist they are improving the site, when in fact the site is deteriorating
Blogophilia is avery special community which I am very proud to have been a part of for about 6 months .And if I feel as if a huge void has opened up in my soul, just imagine how the people who have been writing for Blogophilia for the last 3 years, feel
Through writing and commenting we became quite intimate in a way. Humour was at all times the order of the day, many had special characters or series within which the prompts could be inserted. The talent, wisdom, humour and graciousness of the group is something that one does not often encounter. I learned so much just from reading. I learned more forms of poetry than I knew existed and now I try them out myself .Through reading these great writers I learned more and was able to write better, than in my wildest dreams. One never knew from week to week what would be posted
Something to be kept in mind is that Facebook now owns My Space and a merging will take place. Many folks on My Space blog and interact anonymously in that real names are not used and real time friends are typically not included on My Space. This allows for a freedom of expression without the censorship of a family member. MyBoomerPlace is not connected to Face book . Don’t misunderstand, it’s not that My Spacers are Misanthropes; not at all. It’s just that sometimes we might prefer anonymity
Many of the regular writers on MySpace have become extremely frustrated with the changes currently underway on that site. Some have moved to Word Press, some to Blogspot, some to Boomer and some to a few other sites that have been bandied around. This ping ponging - from site to site in order for us all to stay in touch, is not an acceptable solution.
On myboomerplace the blogs save as blogs without the profile attached as is the case now with facespace. Editing is easily done as well Notifications appear promptly and completely (almost too much so !)Boomer counts many refugees from My Space and several blog challenges are also posted on Boomer. A ready made readership is in place. No need to scrounge for readers If the Creative Poetry Corral can do it then so can Blogophilia, perhaps.

Of course, Marvin is irreplaceable. However, he did suggest that we might think about alternate methods of continuing to write challenging blogs.
The purpose of this blog is to show off boomerplace as one of the sites under consideration for a new home. The bottom line is nothing will fit all the requirements that My Space fulfilled.
However, MBP does offer a blogging site with readers and writers in place
