Sharing drinks can spread bacteria and viruses from saliva that cause diseases like strep throat, the common cold, mumps and meningitis. It can also spread infections like mononucleosis caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). Other infectious microbes that spread through saliva include the bacterium Streptococcus, which can cause gum disease.

Easy:  Drink from a stranger's glass.  That stuff doesn't bother me that much.  But I won't even walk barefoot in my own house.  *grin*
