In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders Fields.
“September 11, 2001, revealed heroism in ordinary people who might have gone through their lives never called upon to demonstrate the extent of their courage.” — Geraldine Brooks
“On September 11, I always take the day off. I want to be in a peaceful quiet place praying. It is a day I both mourn and celebrate.” — Genelle Guzman-McMillan, 9/11 Survivor
Do not forget to rejoice, for hope is always just around the corner. Hold up through the hard times that are coming, and devote yourselves to prayer. At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18 New International Reader's Version
Kwekwecwelsten (Mohawk) or Kwekwecwiye (Oneida) – Good morning
A Sioux Indian chief wished to marry the beautiful daughter of an Assiniboine chief. The Assiniboine, however, gave his daughter's hand to a Cree chief with whom she was in love because the Cree offered a rare snow-white horse as a gift. The angry Sioux pursued the Cree and his bride whose father had returned the horse to help them escape. The Sioux killed them both but the horse escaped. For years it was seen roaming the surrounding plain and in memory of the young lovers this part of Manitoba became known as White Horse Plains
You are worthy of this love. You were born worthy, and nothing you've done—or not done—can take that away. Your perspective is valid for you. Your feelings about what is good or not for you are true for you. You need not defend, explain, or justify yourself to anyone. You need not give attention to people who can't treat you well. You need not remain in situations that don't enliven you.
Hello, start your Tuesday with new smiles. Thank you for your gift of friendship. Thank you for making me laugh when I had almost forgotten how to be grateful. Gratitude is the best attitude. Today I give thanks to everyone in my life. My world is brighter and more beautiful because of you. Thank you for your comments. Your friendship is a special, generous gift, happily accepted, and deeply appreciated. Thank you for always being there. When life is sweet, say thanks and celebrate, and when life is bitter, say thanks and grow. Sometimes I just look up, smile, and say, "I know that was you. I wish you the most beautiful thing in your life: may you always be happy with love." Take care, Maria.
Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! The Father is a merciful God, who always gives us comfort.
