The family gathered this night to hear the stories told by the Grandfather that had lived a long & adventurous life. Grandma smiled having heard the stories before and the children sat listening in awe…
A Story To Tell…
You see this here pipe? I was a gift given to me
I was riding the trails one day, when what did I see?
A big grizzly bar, with two arrows is his neck
Well I got more than I bargained for on this lil treck…
He was standing tall and angry at this here Injun man
The Injun pulled a knife, held it firmly in his hand
So I aimed my sharps, from the cliff where I stood
And the bullet went thru that Griz’s heart, just like it should
Now children… no braver man, did I ever met
Than that Injun brave, as the sun begin to set
My old mule Betsy and me, we rode downward to see
If this brave young man was hurt, but he just stared at me
Not able to speak Injun…I just nodded my head
Then I saw the four scratches, on his belly that bled
I knew he was weak from loss of blood, so I built a fire
Spread out my bedroll, where he lay down so tired
I put on a mixture of moss, and herbs from by saddlebag
Bandaged him up, and waited on time to pass
Cooked up some beans & coffee, he ate his fill
Never spoke a word, he only watched me until…
His eyes got heavy, and he drifted of to sleep
I striped clean that ole bar, then cooked up some meat
When that Injun came to, I handed him some tabbaccy to smoke
Then he pulled out this pipe & took himself a toke
We went our separate ways by the end of the day
I was back on the trail, taking my time along the way
And two days later, sitting here in this chair
I heard a war whoop so loud, figured I was gonna loose my hair
When I peeped out the gun hole, I saw this Injun outside
He had this here pipe in his hand, and he walked with pride
He made the sign for friend, and gave me this gift you now see
That young brave became a Chief, and was a lifetime friend to me…
Spurs jingled as he walked All the towns people pointed and talked They were afraid of this big man The Colt .44 near his hand He lived by the gun & what it could do He lived by the fear…he could put into you Gunslinger is what they all called him Little boys were fascinated…wanted to follow him Men went out of their way to avoid Women trembled, the older ones annoyed
How could one man create such havoc His way of life, had become a habit He didn’t care what others thought or said If they talked to much, they ended up dead He learned to fight at a very young age But this was his life, not just a phase His parents were murdered when he was only five He hid in the barn, the only one now alive Looking for the scum that had taken all he had Now he himself, has been branded as bad
He wasn’t the type to pass the buck or the blame He never felt the need, to try and explain Just felt he was right in the lives he took At the dead he killed, he never took a 2nd look If doubt entered his mind he would remember his mothers screams An eye for eye, it felt right to him it seemed They raped his 12 year old sister, and made his father watch Then they cut her throat, but there it didn’t stop
They drug his father behind a horse for fun For these low life’s… the day had just begun “Hang Him!†the boss yelled out loud Then we’ll burn this place, burn it to the ground He’s been looking for twenty years…and there’s three more left Looking for a scar, a tattoo, and one named Seth, He never harmed an innocent, although some got in the way He vowed to keep looking, until his dying day, Only one man had the nerve to ask A sheriff named Earp…when they crossed paths
The man explained his story saying ‘I wont be locked up’ Not until they are all dead, will the killing stop Wyatt nodded his head, for he understood A dept he would repay, as any man would… The killers rode into Tombstone the very next day Wyatt was on the boardwalk, talking to Holiday The murders were ‘Cowboys’, wearing the red sash Wyatt made his move… in one quick flash He knocked one of them out with the butt of his gun The gunslinger killed another as the last tried to run
Holiday had the last cornered saying “You’ve a dept to pay†The man’s that gonna kill you…is now on his way He went for his gun but age had slowed him down Within seconds he lay dying… on the wet muddy ground, When the last one came to, the crowd had gathered to see “Why are you doing this…he began to plead, The gunslinger recanted the story, loud enough for all to hear And the last of the men, trembled… he shook with raw fear The crowd gasp at the tail the gunslinger told Waiting to see… what was next to unfold
To listen to the video’s, its gonna take a lil time…. So if your in a rush, this isn’t a good time
Tons of research later, so much info it is overwhelming for anyone…. Leonard Peltier was a member of AIM (American Indian Movement) located in South Dokota…he was accused of killing an FBI agent and put in prison for Two life terms… There were two other men put on trial for the exact same crime, and they did NOT go to prison…
His side of the story is read by the gentleman in the video…
This is Leonard’s attorney speaking to a news channel….
I wasn’t there of course, and I don’t know Mr. Peltier personally…but if you study the information (I don’t say evidence because there is no evidence)….there is only one conclusion you can come to…what I have shown you here doesn’t even begin to touch all there is to know….
The language had been colorful, all the day long, Nothing went right, and everything went wrong, A horse broke his leg, chasing the stampede, When the chuck wagon flipped, they couldn’t believe, Cookie was knocked out, and cussed up a blue streak, Now one of the water barrels, had a bad leak, But the cattle was calm now, stars filled the skies, The wild look was gone, from his ole horse’s eyes, The fire felt good on his dog tired bones, & the coffee was hot, Tomorrow they’d move fast, in Abilene they would stop, As he listened to cowboy sing, while he sang low his bawdy song, He too he thought… was longing for home… Climbing in his bedroll, he thought of what was to come, Drinking and fighting, he knew there would be some, But the boys had earned a good time, and the ladies would see, That flat broke come morning, these ole boys would be, Then the trail home, would be a welcomed one to all, And he drifted off to sleep… listening to the cowboys song.
As the smell of lilacs tickled his nose His gaze could not be broken Nor would he ever forget From the sparkling stars in her eyes…. Or those sweet words, she had spoken
‘Think of me sometimes’ she whispered Their embrace… released but too soon He took from her, her kerchief… Then rode for the rising moon
As the campfire glowed softly In the crisp air… the smell of new spring Seeing in her eyes those ‘forget me not stars’ And tapped on his finger, the yellow gold ring
He would be home in two days In her loving arms once more… Her perfume was scented heaven Oh this woman…how he adored…
The cattle were down, quiet in the distance And his mind relaxed, as lilac tickled his nose Thoughts of those ‘forget me not stars’ As once again… that silver moon rose…
The damage you see before you Is all that is left of me Destroyed by the wreckage That you claimed was love I tried to pick up the pieces… To mend this broken heart Only for you…to once again tear it apart Love is… discussed no more Another’s hand you now hold I wonder… silently In this darkness of mine Will you release Her too Making Her darkness unfold
Thinking of yourself only Needs you want met To become ‘the man‘… Will this happen for you? When will the day come… That it is You... that is lonely Will your tears be salty?
Will they stain your cheeks? Is your heart capable of love? I wonder these things I must admit And will you think of me then… Will you hunger for more And your desires that are of…
Fantasy’s untrue Hearing as I did…
That closing door….

She chased the butterflies thru wide open field Unaware…of the danger surrounding her… It was her giggles of innocence…that made the soldier yield
Beautiful…was this raven haired girl child She brought him memories…of his own daughter at home Now holstering his pistol, he refuse to harm…refused to defile
He caught himself smiling, as her laughter carried on the wind He backed away slowly…to not make a sound… Today he just couldn’t force, these people to defend…
A land that had been their’s, for thousands of years He would make his way quietly now, back to his horse Feeling a lil embarrassed…hiding his eyes from showing the tears
When he raised his head up, he was shocked at what he saw Five warriors and their chief, sitting they’re pony’s so proud Death awaited him he knew…at the hands of these Choctaw…
Passive faces & obsidian eyes…glared at this soldier in blue His mind raced as he talk to them in sign “Friend…I have not come here to kill…only to talk to youâ€
Not one man moved, a couple of minutes past by In broken English…the chief asked and signed Why does the sight of my child, make a grown man cry?
One tear rolled down & a deep breath the soldier took “She brought memories to mind, of my own lil girl†But away from the Chief…he never once looked
“She is alive?†The chief asked, although he already knew… The soldier pushed his shoulders back & stood firm “She was sick when I left,†This man not sure now what to do
The chief spoke sternly, saying “You must leave this place… Never speak of this land or what you have seen “No Sir“ he said…glancing back to see the lil girls face
And the soldier never did speak of what, he had seen that day He saw innocence… and the gift of life in that field He made his way home that year, the entire ride he had prayed…
God had been listening he knew…because when he arrived He had seen her first, thru the open barn doors When she saw him coming…she ran outside
Long dark hair & eyes of emeralds green, she jumped into his arms & cried Swinging her around and laughing from the excitement within “I knew you were coming daddy, but he said to let it be a surprise,â€
“Who said honey?….And what else did this man say?†“He was Indian daddy, a real nice man he was†Now not a day goes by he doesn’t remember this….and he turned 65, today….
“He gave momma medicine… to help me get well… He came by nearly everyday… But it’s a secret daddy, ssshhhh….he told me not to tell….â€
Below is a True Cowboy Poet….when I write, This how I write…The poem I wrote below is FICTION…
(sorry for all typos)
(fictional story)
Proud One
He had a rough exterior… that hid a heart of gold But he became angry when, the ‘free land’…was sold Old & rugged… he was tough as any bear He respected the Indians, that had Always lived there When the politicians took all they could, his old heart gave way Dying near the village, the Cherokee found him the next day They respected the old mountain man, & buried him the Indian way Sent up prayers in their smoke, but few had much to say Some say they would see him, riding his usual trails What some claim to see, they swore to never tell Legend has it… he still wonders these mountains at times To see a campfire burning in the distance, is not at all an unusual find He will make himself known, to a only few Like hunters for sport…he may even speak to You He knows who respects the land, & who wants to destroy The ole man will toy with you…he can be sly & coy To this day the Cherokee, send up their smoke & prayers They know this old man…watches over them there… They called him u-tlv-quo-di sa-quu-i, meaning ‘Proud One’ If you hear a grown man scream, then his antics have begun The Cherokee will smile, seeing the tracks on the land Knowing once again…he has lent a helping hand He really hated politicians, and the boys in blue… So if go into the Ozarks, here is some advice for you Keep your camp site clean, and leave the wild life alone So the spirits of the Cherokee, wont sing your death song.
Seems to be a lot of discussion lately about religion, faith, beliefs or the lack of…not a big fan of “organized religion†myself. However my faith is strong & my belief’s undeniable. I don’t tell you how you should believe or worship and don’t you dare try to tell me…so keep it up, post your anti Christ bulletins and making your lil digs at me personally via comments &/or email. I know very well where the delete button is & how to use it…I have only tolerated you for His sake & to obey His word…your wrong in flattering yourself in thinking it has Any Thing to do with You!! The poem below is for my Father in heaven, not YOU. It is a public statement of Love For & To Him & Him alone…don’t ever make the mistake of thinking your important enough for me to write about!!!!!!!!
One More Chance
I no longer care… to try & understand How such hatred spews, from my fellow man Videos & opinions… claiming my God isn’t real With no concern at all…at how You or I might feel
Why is it so important, to try & discredit the one I love Talking down to me… and all I know of What is the purpose I wonder, in leading others astray They know full well, that there will come a day
We all will answer… for each deed we have done I’ve read the last chapter, I know who won… The one that leads them, is condemned to eternal hell And they themselves, in darkness they dwell…
Why would one chose hate? Or even evil as it were… They know the truth deep down, of this I’m sure I choose Gods grace, and for His mercy I pray That the ones that ridicule… will one day be saved…
In the mean time I ask you Father, for your guidance in all To help those up… that repeatedly fall…. Satan has a hold on them it seems, what did it cost? How much to walk this path of darkness, to suffer such a loss?
The price is their soul, everlasting damnation To late it will be then, for all contemplation Pride is their enemy, for the powers just a dream What the evil one offers, is all a wicked scheme…
Forgive me my trespass’s my Lord…& please take my hand Give me the strength I ask…to love each & every man To dry the tears of the women, that are longing to know You To protect each child…made of innocence and truth
Forgive them Father, although they Do know what they do Each & every time they deny…and tell lies on You This is my job I believe, as Your child… it simply must be That I for one should in my own humble way, to help them to see…
Touch their hearts my Lord, opening it up to the truth That Your words of love, will no longer be mute Allow them to see what You offer, relief of all the strife Please give them one more chance Jesus…at eternal life….
Some may wonder, how I say this prayer… Others will wonder, how do I dare… But somewhere long ago, there were prayers once said That brought God’s love to me…& put an end to my dread
You may not believe in hell, but it wont keep you out And I pray that He touches you, relieving you of all doubt.
