This was produced for the CPC Cheryl's Poetic Playhouse. Cheryl wants writes about walls.

WallFlier Staring at these fourteen walls with all my fourteen hundred eyes, I am a fly upon a wall, really a spirit in disguise. It is a tavern on the green where fourteen fell off a wagon, forgot the bad of where they'd been inside a thekadessaragon. While I, a fly, fly down upon the scene of this strange fable, to sip a while from a cup on a fourteen sided table. Fourteen thousand years before when I was such like these fourteen, fourteen years old, a tiger's roar brought death before much life I'd seen. Now as a fly upon a wall, I heed reincarnation's call. My fourteen hundred eyes see all, and into life I fly withall! Copyright December 14th 2010 RGD

This was written for the CPC Saturday Sojourn poetry challenge. Hosts Lady Seda and A Rhodi wanted writes about rain. This was delayed posting here due to problems I had getting photobucket to work properly.

Cabin Fever
In a cabin in deep dark woods by a lake and a small boat dock, they snuggled and enjoyed their goods.
They paid no heed to watch or clock while torrent rained down on tin roof by a lake and a small boat dock.
Thunderclaps gave further proof the storm outside was raging on while torrent rained down on tin roof.
In fireplace glow neither looked wan and slow lovemaking kept them warm. The storm outside was raging on.
Hot hands explored each other's form emboldened by sweet dinner wine and slow lovemaking kept them warm.
Two lovers feeling very fine in evening designed to dine in a cabin in deep dark woods they snuggled and enjoyed their goods.

Termination?
Virtuous man had created, after much tyrannous turmoil, perfect freedom, though belated.
To the powerful he played foil ordered for benefit of all, after much tyrannous turmoil.
In this nation, many stood tall, free to pursue prosperity, ordered for benefit of all.
Ten generations knew plenty because they could keep what they earned, free to pursue prosperity.
Till one day, tools who never learned stopped believing plenty had come because they could keep what they earned.
New generations, deaf and dumb, stopped believing plenty had come from what virtuous man had made: Perfect freedom. They let it fade.

This was written for the CPC Friday Fling poetry challenge. Michelle K and I are challenging writers to create a Terzanelle about a favorite animal.
The Gazelle's Terzanelle This poem is called a Terzanelle (The second and first lines don't rhyme.) It is about the fast Gazelle. It's not a poem that you can mime. To write one will take up some time. (The second and first lines don't rhyme.) Gazelles can stop upon a dime. They are agile, hardy critters. To ride one would be so sublime. Gazelles drop small Gazelle fritters all over hot dry tropic plains. They are agile, hardy critters. Gazelles do not have real large brains. But they know how to eat and run all over hot dry tropic plains. If Lions catch them, they are done. Being eaten is not much fun. This poem is called a Terzanelle. It is about the fast Gazelle. This is a Special preview for the CPC Friday Fling Poetry challenge. Poems should be posted there when the blog opens at 9 P.M. EST.
Friday Fling #111 12/10/10 In much of the country this time of year, it is difficult for pets to be outside for extended periods. Cold winds, snow and ice take their toll. That got us thinking about our favorite animals and what makes them happy. As many of you know, my cohost Michelle K. is a master of poetry formats. She has never been known to find one she could not handle well! At least I have never known her to falter at formal poetry. I asked her choose this week’s format, so she picked one of her favorites, the Terzanelle, defined by ShadowPoetry.com as a poetry type which is a combination of the villanelle and the terza rima forms. It is a 19-line poem consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets plus a concluding quatrain in which the first and third lines of the first triplet appear as refrains. The middle line of each triplet is repeated, reappearing as the last line of the succeeding triplet with the exception of the center line of the next-to-the-last stanza which appears in the quatrain. The rhyme and refrain scheme for the triplets is as follows: 1. A 2. B 3. A 4. b 5. C 6. B 7. c 8. D 9. C 10. d 11. E 12. D 13. e 14. F 15. E Ending Type 1: 16. f 17. A 18. F 19. A Ending Type 2: 16. f 17. F 18. A 19. A Each line of the poem should be the same metrical length. September September, drifting in with glow of moon, You stifle Summer’s ardor. . . and she grieves. In guise of fire, then Fall comes all too soon. Your breath grows cool. You’ll blow and loosen leaves. The hills and woodlands will reflect new hues. You stifle Summer’s ardor. . . and she grieves. In Autumn’s chill, the colors are a ruse. For as you pass, the trees are set ablaze. The hills and woodlands then reflect new hues. Though warmth may linger through your final days, old Sun is waning, yet he still seems strong! For as you pass, the trees are set ablaze. September, you’re a melancholy song. Though time be short, you paint a brilliant dusk! Old sun is waning, yet he still seems strong. October looms. . . Your ending will be brusque. September, drifting in with glow of moon, though time be short, you paint a brilliant dusk. In guise of fire, then Fall comes all too soon. Copyright © 2006 Andrea Dietrich
