Thsi was for the CPC Saturday Share poetry challenge. Cheryl's muse line is "Making dreams come true." The art is by a former beloved CPC Pal who passed away in 2008. Around that time the art she did was featured on a CPC Simple Sunday Picture challenge.

Friday Fling #113 12/24/10
One of our favorite Holiday pastimes is watching the classic Christmas movies. So we thought, how about writing about them, why they are classics, what keeps us coming back to watch year after year, what they add to the Holiday spirit, etc.
Here's Scotorum's list of Top Ten Must See Movies at Christmastime:
10. Home Alone 1&2
9. The Santa Clause
8. Christmas in Connecticut
7. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
6. Miracle on 34th Street
5. How The Grinch Stole Christmas (either the movie or the cartoon)
4. Holiday Inn
3. White Christmas
2. A Christmas Carol (almost any of the many versions)
And my number one all-time Christmas movie,
1. It's a Wonderful Life
Maybe yours includes different titles. Whatever your favorite is, we want to read about it!
No special format this week, so that you are as free as possible to range the topic. And hey it's Christmas Eve!
This week the Friday Fling chats poetically about our favorite Christmas movies!
Be sure to save some viewing time for the other Pals' celluloid celebrations. Then go make some nice Christmas moments this weekend! - Bob/Scotorum and Michelle K.
As ever, should the challenge as posted not be at least a three star challenge for you, you may post anything poetical you've written lately that suits our family reading audience.

These were all written for the CPC Friday Fling poetry challenge that I host with Michelle K. our topic is opposites and the format is the Utny, a reverse Eintou, a seven line poem of 8-6-4-2-4-6-8 syllables instead of the Eintou's 2-4-6-8-6-4-2.

These were all for the CPC Thematic Attic Thursday, where the topic de jour is wrotes about old time Christmas and Christmas memories. I wrote three Utnys because we are doing them tomorrow on the CPC Friday Fling and also because they are...short.

Normally when we put together our Fling challenges, we first choose a topic - usually as timely a one as possible - , and then pick a format that we think has the potential to express it best. This time, my cohostess Michelle K. suggested we do another challenge involving the Utny, a format first seen on the Fling last April. The Utny is simply a reverse Eintou, in other numbers a format poem of seven lines in 8-6-4-2-4-6-8 syllables successively. As to topic, I thought that since the Utny, like the Eintou, comes essentially in two mirror halves divided by a single line, that it would be a good format to express differences, especially opposites. So this week we thought the theme would be "Opposites attract." When is that true, and when is it not true, of people, animals, things or even ideas. When do opposites oppose each other and when to they complement?

Here's an example of the Utny, this one done on the topic of this week's Wonderful Wednesday CPC challenge, where the theme was "The Impossible Dream." Dreamchaser If you have a personal dream, although you may think it's impossible, chase it. You won't get it if you don't go for it, and you'll regret you didn't try. Copyright December 14th 2010 RGD
This week the Friday Fling writes Utnys about opposites! Be sure to save time to read and comment noncontrarily on your fellow Pals' dichotomies. Then go find an opposite that attracts this weekend! As always, should the challenge offered not be compatible with your desires, you may post anything which you have written lately which is suitable for our family blog. Fickle Finger of Fate Award For December 10th Congratulations Margie!

This was created for the CPC Wonderful Wednesday poetry challenge. Hostesses Lady Seda and Sharonlee seek writes about "The Impossible Dream." I did mine as an Utny, a reverse Eintou form I invented last Spring, a seven line poem of 8-6-4-2-4-6-8 syllables.
