This ABAB eight beat story poem was created to accompany the picture below, which is the featured image in this week's CPC Simple Sunday Picture challenge. The art is by Sunny Buick. If you need to enlarge it, on Google Chrome there is a zoom feature if you click on the wrench icon in the upper right corner. I recommend using Google Chrome as a browser because for me it works faster.

This was designed for the CPC Saturday Sojourn poetry challenge, where hosts Lady Seda and Jon are asking for writes related to the colors of winter. This poem was my first in forty years when I wrote it in mid-winter 2007 for a challenge over at the now long defunct Poetic Corner community site. The challenge there had been to write a poem to the featured art, which was by Alba Hernandez and is the one in my PnP below. I have reposted this poem a few times since 2007 but this is the first time it has been Pic n Poemed.

This is a Special preview for the CPC Friday Fling Poetry challenge. Poems should be posted there when the challenge opens Thursday evening at 9 PM EST.
....Driving home from our favorite seafood restaurant tonight, three days after Thanksgiving, I was struck by how quickly so many people have hoisted their Christmas decorations outside and inside their homes! And that got me thinking about all the variations, and how they reflect what people want to show, show off or represent about themselves in these weeks leading up to what most Americans still consider the Most Important Holday of the year.
How about expressing in poetry what you do to decorate for the Christmas holiday season, and/or what others do that you either admire or abhor?
Last week we did couplets, and some put them into four line stanzas. This week, how about we continue to the next lesson and do alternating line rhymes, ABAB, CDCD, EFEF, etc. You set the beat, cadence or rhythm with the number of syllables you choose for each line, set or varied.
This week the Friday Fling Has a Christmas Decoration Party in ABAB rhyme!
Be sure to save a string of lights - er time - to read and comment decorously on your fellow Pals' poetic displays. Then, if you haven't already, go decorate something this weekend! -Bob/Scotorum and Michelle K.
As usual, should the challenge not be to your taste, you may display anything you have written lately as long as it is relatively compact and is more or less fit for a family blog. The important thing is always to Be Creative and Have Fun!
Fickle Finger of Fate Award For November 26th
Congratulations Barbara!

This was created for the CPC Triple Crown challenge. Hosts Colleen B and Lady "Cheryl" Death set up a tough challenge involving ten words and a phrase ("sound of the soul") to include in a write about a photograph Colleen took on a recent trip to Maryland. I included all ten words just as they were listed: amber, gentle, fade, ripple, listen, carry, foretell, majestic, dappled, alight.
