Welcome to Pick-Apart Poetry! We gather here once more to test our poetic creativity! Let's give a warm welcome to our guest poet who has been kind enough to lend us one of her poems to use in our challenge! Let's send a warm welcome to:
Demme:-)
Pick-Demme has been a long time friend of the CPC! Here are a few more words about her:
WE MUST ALL WORK TOGETHER TO HEAL & PROTECT THE EARTH SO THAT OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDRENS' CHILDREN CAN STILL BREATHE THE AIR & SWIM IN THE OCEANS. LET US ALL TRY TO GIVE BACK SOMETHING...FOR EVERYTHING WE TAKE. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am practicing the "art of being human" everyday. Some days I feel I am on the brink of creating a masterpiece and other days ...well...there's a lot of wasted canvas out in the trash pile. The key is to keep trying, and keep improving...positive steps toward the "light" and playing with those shadows... even dancing with them when the urge hits. Life itself is art and what we play such a big part in what appears on the canvas that is "us"...I am working on that "Masterpiece"...a work in progress...with God's help it will be simply...awesome ;-)
Demme is an amazing poet so if you have not sent her a friend request yet please do so.
Below are the RULES to our Apart Poetry Challenge:
And shown below is Demme's poem to be used today for our Poetry Challenge!
This is the text of the poem:
Past/Present and Future By Demme
Heroes past -present And future- I am guided by them all- The past -they held My hand- Tried to teach me- "How" to stumble- Not fall.
The present walk Beside me- Teach me to walk Like I'm ten feet tall- And the future heroes That I will meet? I patiently await their call- For it matters not How old I get- I will always have Lessons to learn- Pages to turn- Bridges to burn.
New lessons To be added- To those I will never forget- Heroes to look up to- Heroes to love and To respect- I am a work in progress- And I will never be Perfect- But with guidance from Those with wisdom- Who offer to Teach me and share- I hope to live A good life- And when I'm done Hope to find an easy chair- Waiting for me up In Heaven- To join departed heroes- Who paved the way- For me there.

We are happy to present you all with an solid friend to all the pals of the CPC. Since he finished a new painting, we just couldn't help but ask him to let us feature it. It only took 3 twists of his arm to get him to say yes....lol
About the artist:
Since we all know the wonderful Wizard of Awwwws, I didn't want to copy and paste the same old bio we've read a million times. Both he and I thought it would be nice to offer you guys something new. Here is an acrostic (how appropriate) that I wrote for him:
This Week's Featured Art
"Untitled"
please use only this piece of art for your poetic inspiration
********As Always*******
Do your best to show some love to your fellow poets and our featured artist. It makes us smile like a bunch of Cheshire cats when you guys do.
Here's a musical mix from one of Darrell's favorite bands.

Fling #108 11/19/10
In Deep Water
Deep underground
Deep in the Woods
This week we thought we'd follow up on last week's topic about falling things by considering what it's like when you stop falling. When you're down at the bottom, way down DEEP in some way. Deep in the ocean or deep underground, deeply in love, deep in thought or deeply absorbed in something.
You know, really DEEP stuff. What's it like down there?
For a format, may we suggest the Sedoka, described by ShadowPoetry.com as:
Sedoka
The Sedoka is an unrhymed poem made up of two three-line katauta with the following syllable counts: 5/7/7, 5/7/7. A Sedoka, pair of katauta as a single poem, may address the same subject from differing perspectives. Katauta is an unrhymed three-line poem the following syllable counts: 5/7/7.
War Path
Fractured wanderer leaving a tortured city, hammocked insecurely.
Quenched of thirst for blood, he may now respect beauty, unappreciated 'fore.
Be sure to spend some time after you post your write reading and commenting in depth about your fellow Pals' deep writes. Then go make this a deeply meaningful weekend! -Bob/Scotorum and Michelle K.
As always, should the specifics of this challenge not stir you to writing action, you can post anything you've written recently as long as it is reasonably brief and is appropriate for this family blog.

I have some exciting news about this Challenge!!! I am one of the Air Force Material Command’s representatives on the Federal Women’s Employee program. At our meeting last week we were discussing upcoming events that we will be involved in, in the coming months. March is “Women in History†month, and we will be setting up displays in the Base Library. I mentioned the poetry challenge I had planned for this week and offered to use some of the poetry you all post here on this challenge. They thought it was a wonderful idea!!! So, if you do not want you piece to be displayed please indicate that when you post. Otherwise I will select several pieces from the offerings on this challenge to be displayed *smiling*
