Sometimes You Just know
With every Breath I take I am thinking Of you
My eyes Are out of focus Unless I am Looking at you
My heart Beats faster When you walk Into the room
I can hear Your voice Even when You are silent
When I stroke Your hair I feel a tingle In my finger tips
And when your eyes Meet mine I sink into A state of trance
When you put your Hand in mine It is like being touched By an angel
I hold on firmly But not too tightly Knowing I never Want to let go
When you give me A gentle hug I feel completely lost Within you
Energy that is mine Moves into you And a sense of serenity Engulfs me
And when our lips First touch I melt And forget to breathe
If only the kiss Could last forever And this feeling Would never go away
Then I cup your face In my hands I look directly Into your eyes
And I realize At this very moment This is what Was meant to be

A Night Just For You
She giggled as I placed the blindfold on her eyes Asking what it was I did not want her to see I told her to just be patient, and to trust me I took her hand and led her to the back door
We walked outside and across the yard Until we reached what only I knew was there I gently helped her to sit; I remained silent Eyes were still covered and she couldn't stop smiling
Finally I removed the cover from her eyes The look on her face at that moment was priceless She said nothing as she looked all around her It was clear this night belonged solely to her
We were sitting on a quilt of many colors Three sides were lined with various sized lit candles There was an ice chest, its contents unknown to her Rose petals scattered all around us both
I reached into the chest and removed the wine As well as two long stem crystal glasses I filled one glass and handed it to her Then one for myself and sat the bottle down
I toasted to her angelic existence And to the blessing of having her in my life We took a sip of the wine Then I leaned forward and kissed her
Again I reached into the chest removing platters Filled with what I knew to be her favorites Cheeses, grapes, strawberries and cherries Sliced melons, pineapple, and chocolates
We ate like children on Halloween Feeding each other with treats and kindness Never had I seen her smile so much And never had my heart felt so full
We held hands and sat there silently Gazing into each others eyes As if on cue, we both looked up to the sky It was full of stars seeming brighter than ever
This is my gift to you, my love A picnic under the night sky The stars and the moon are quite jealous For you are the beauty of this night

Falling

Falling
In one quick motion, I took one final look below and jumped. There was no hesitation, and now, it is simply too late to change my mind. Gravity now has control of me, and downward, I fall. No longer do I have a choice in my earlier decision, and now I am having doubts about my chosen path. The air around me is adding resistance to my decent, and I feel as though my skin is trying to tear away from my body. My speed is increasing by the second, and I have not reached full speed, yet. I feel the blood as it seems to gather in my head. The pressure I feel on my body is unlike anything I have ever felt, and I suddenly find myself dizzy. As I plunge toward the ground, I have thoughts of what it would be like to feel the impact as my body makes contact on the concrete below. I wonder what feelings would surface within me just before the contact takes place. I even have thoughts of how others would respond, and these thoughts going through my mind are quite troubling. I continue to fall, and the ground seems to be coming up on me quite rapidly. I feel my pulse increase, and my mind is filled with a sudden horror of what will happen. I think of my life, what I have done, what I should have done, and I have thoughts of my friends and family. I try to decide if I have lived my life in an honorable manner, and wonder how others perceive me, and if I am accepted as a good person to them. I continue to plummet in a downward spiral and wonder how far I have actually fallen, and how much further I have to go. I then think to myself that it is time to truly find out my fate. I pull the ripcord, and I feel a tremendous jolt as my parachute opens and immediately slows my descent. With my speed reduced, and the knowledge that I will safely reach the ground without unwanted consequences, I feel a sudden calmness. The ground below comes into full focus and I slowly touch down, and I am once again safely grounded with life and myself.

I Control Your Night
I gently place the needle on the record Headphones are covering my ears Minor adjustments are made to the tones The volume slider is down on the mixer
I quickly hit the start button on the turntable The sounds starts, but only I can hear it I rock the vinyl with a back and forth motion As I search for the right point to start
I find my target I hold the vinyl completely still I slide the volume control to maximum Release the record, and the night begins
Base is thumping and it vibrates the soul As the song intro continues and builds I hold down the button on the fog machine For fifteen seconds I fill the room
As the meat of the song erupts I turn on the two giant strobe lights You cannot see your hand before your eyes You feel you are in a lightning storm
With a flip of a switch the main light show begins Blue and red flashes seep through the smoke The mood has now been set Now it it time to control the environment
I flip through the LP's looking for a secret A song that will move and motivate I find it and pop it onto the other turntable I put the needle on it and let it start
I hear it in my headphones, but only me I spin it backwards looking for my cue point I find it, and I listen closely to the song playing With my fingers I move the record back and forth
Looking for the beats of each song to match A fraction off would sound like a train wreck I release the vinyl and move the volume slider A slight adjustment to the pitch, and two songs are playing
As the second song builds I place my fingers on the crossfader In a split second, I drop volume on the first song And allow the second song to take over
The club is packed, and so is my dance floor My job is to keep them there for the night Song after song; never a moment of silence And I have to do this for hours at a time
One record after another I control the night Guiding emotions and reactions into the morning Demanding that they dance on the floor before me Making the sure the next song will not let them leave
The night continues, and so does my music I watch the dance floor to read the mood as I go As the attitudes strengthen, so do I I am up to 138 beats per minute
Beer and liquor is flowing They have broken out their glow sticks What started as a single song earlier Has allowed me to control the crowd
And I will continue to lead your direction Not suggesting, but dictating how you feel I will guide you into the morning hours At least until the house lights come on
Then, you are on your own

When I Close My Eyes
Longing for the end of the day Prepared for what the night will bring What is denied to me with eyes open Comes to me when I close them
Overwhelmed with anticipation Waiting to enter my dream world Limitations and rules are eliminated This is when we meet face to face
I know of my daytime existence And I know you have your own Dreams seem to weave them together And present them to us as we sleep
All that I can only imagine And that which I reach for in my mind Is served gracefully to me as I sleep Visions and emotions are amplified
The reality of day sets the stage Every moment is a part of the set Directed by desires shared between us Resulting in a play that is colored in passion
Our thoughts are vital components The makeup of what we feel in our hearts Visions, touches, and sight totally unknown Are clearly projected in our sleeping hours
I begin each morning with an empty heart Thoughts of you fill it by the end of the day And I know when my head hits my pillow I will be swimming with the thoughts of you
I simply close my eyes, and you appear All that is unreachable is suddenly present The impossible is suddenly possible And as always, my Angel, you are there
Longing for the end of the day Prepared for what the night will bring What is denied to me with eyes open Comes to me when I close them
Sometimes When We Dream, Our Sub-conscious Mind Will Reveal To Us What Hides In Our Hearts...

A Prison Within Our Minds Although we acknowledge that we live in a world where we have an endless supply of possibilities We choose to remain stagnant to live in a dormant existence and it is a path that is motionless and transpires into nothingness Knowing all we desire is within our reach even our dreams and wishes they are there for the taking if we are willing to put forth the effort Fear has become the replacement for what once was initiative and integrity leaving us stranded within the grips of darkness and despair Our minds seem incapable of simple comprehension and simplicity has grown into a state of confusion The smallest of tasks will create unknown barriers problem solving seems to require far too much energy Full of weakness and self pity we hide within our own minds unwilling to surface again until steadiness is restored Unwilling to take that first step hesitant to move forward afraid of what simply is not there we try to wish it away Hiding within the safety of ignorance and the lack of understanding Presenting ourselves as being conservative as we tremble with fear While even we know we are cowards we remain content Unable to strive for what we want and stray from the calmness Longing for what is good and right but unwilling to search yet waiting for it to come without effort or concentration We sift through our daily activities selecting what will come easily Setting aside that which will create uncertainty or anticipation Our challenges are hidden away we would rather be wrong than brave Leaving that which requires a conscious effort in some dark place Difficult decisions, we leave for others those who are equipped with discipline We can't allow our hands to touch that which may require true thought We cowardly sit in our dark corners as we wait for others to lead us knowing exactly what we want but depending on others to produce it In a society that promotes irresponsibility and allows for this subnormal existence we seem to gladly step into that provided position and await an outcome selected by others What we see as living in a safe zone creates a world that is safe for no one Instead, we have walls all around us that prevent any movement at all As we continue on our chosen paths that will lead us to where we need not be We close our eyes, our minds and even our souls to everything We finally come to realize in our hearts that what we see as this safe zone With all of its self-inflicted distortion has actually become our prison within our minds Vic Damico 21 Sept. 2010

Difficult Decisions
Some decisions, even the simple ones will eat at your mind if you allow it I wonder if the conclusion I reach will be found to be an acceptable one?
Are there going to be regrets or will I feel an uncertainty? Trying to hurry the needed answer seems to be slowing my response
Time is certainly a factor with my quest A decision is needed and it is needed now
And the one whose next move rests on my decision is hovering over me impatiently while I ponder
I glance at my watch I can feel the pressure A hasty decision can lead to an inevitable disaster
Others around me are growing angry that anger increases by the second I can feel the their anxiety it is penetrating my brain
It is a simple decision; a choice of variety Yet, I find my mind to feel numb
The answer will not come
I look him straight in the eyes Asking for just a little patience Can you give me a few minutes? I have to get this right
The pressure is building My mind seems to be frozen I dig deep within me for the answer And still, it will not come
He is before me again, standing, waiting I cannot stand the pressure any longer I throw the menu on the table Hell, just bring me the meatloaf...

FYI...How Dreams Are Formed
Since many poets base their writes on dreams, whether from real dreams or not, I decided to explain how dreams take place and where they come from. While in college, I studied Psychology, and the subject of dreams was always kind of a pet project. This is just the basics, and it goes much further than what I am providing within this write. The following may answer a few questions many have related to our dreamworld...
Dreams do not simply appear; there is a process that allows them to form, and determines what direction they will go, although that process will never be exactly the same two nights in a row. They are like snowflakes, in that there are too many factors that will mold the dreams based on the mind of the individual who has the dreams. When do dreams begin? We do not simply sleep; there are various stages of sleep, and dreams will not surface during all of them. During the REM (rapid eye movement) stage of sleep, the dreams materialize in whatever form or level the mind will allow. Where do dreams come from? A dream has an endless supply of subjects that is limited only by that which has become a part of the memory of the individual, even that which cannot be retrieved in our awakened hours. While we sleep, our brain activity continues, although not a cognitive activity. The brain is basically working on its own, without the individual controlling the outcome. The dream may be about anything you have ever learned, saw, touched, smelled, heard, or thought. Now, for the really strange part of dreams. Have you ever been having a perfectly normal dream, then out of the blue comes something that is not only unrelated to the rest of the dream, but seems unrelated to anything at all? Ok, here is what is actually happening. Your sub-conscious controls your dreams, the content, the order, and the dream itself from beginning to end. While you sleep, even though you have active brain activity, the activity is not a clear, organized thought process as when you are awake. There are nights that you may be having a perfectly normal dream, with nothing unusual contained within the dream, and suddenly, the dream takes a turn into something totally unrelated to the rest of the dream. Ok, here is what happens to cause that unrelated insertion into the dream. While you dream, it is not a constant, normal brain activity. There are voids all through the activity which would remain as a void without the following. When a void is present, your sub-conscious will fill that void. Once again, the sub-conscious will consist of anything that has taken place within your entire life thus far. It could be something you saw in a movie that day, or it could be something that happened to you when you were five years old. That is why we have dreams whereas you may be walking with your girl/boyfriend in a park, and then suddenly you are attacked by a creature, or you begin to fly, or you are suddenly alone. The twist, and the shift from a normal dream to a nightmare is based simply on what the sub-conscious decided to fill those voids with, and even the length of the dream. The longer the dream may be, the more voids there are to fill. There are other factors that will change the dream simply because they will change the brain activity. Drugs or alcohol will have an obvious impact on the dreams. As for me, I drink quite a bit of coffee each night. It does not keep me from sleeping, but the coffee will stimulate brain activity. I always tell people that instead of having dreams, I have full-length movies. But, in reality, I do have dreams that stray far from what is considered normal because of the coffee. To me, dreams are entertainment while we sleep...
Sweet dreams, my friends...

Feel Love, Don't Think It
Many try to rely on the mind to understand the meaning of love Why would we consider that source? the mind has nothing to do with it
How could it?
The mind is not part of the process Love goes beyond rational thought
Your mind may show you her vision but only the heart can see her the eyes simply allow that vision only the heart knows her to be there
Your mind will allow her soft whispers and the ears can read the vibrations yes, that soft voice she uses to speak to you is only truly heard by the heart
Her tender touch, such a thing of power the mind and the sensors may take the credit the mind is again creating an illusion only the heart could know her touch
Even the simply smell of her hair may create an emotional overload the mind can feel the symptoms but the heart responds on its own
And over time, the growth, itself of love and all that is connected an endless array of emotions, even pain dwells in the heart, not the mind
So, the next time you hear the words you are deep within my heart understand those words for their true meaning you have filled a heart with love
