Toward the Dream
On those moonless nights the silence so loud that it keeps me awake, my thoughts streaking across dark fields of midnight, playing tag within the empty spaces reserved for dreams and moonlight, sleep eludes my grasp. And I can but toss and turn trying in vain to find the elusive off switch, to quiet those voices so loud in their silence.
Until finally . . . . in those moments I reach into the darkness for those words that dance at the hour of midnight dreams finally joining in their play until the music begins to change and they begin to sing a sweeter tune, with words I hear as they call to me "Move in the direction of your dreams," they say. And into the night my thoughts finally drift sweet dreams of night replacing deafening silence once more.

Simple Thanks
In the midst of all the negativity that I can't help but notice as it sneaks up on me, I look around and I'm reminded once more that despite all the things in this world that simply aren't right I do have much to be thankful for.
And this Thanksgiving I remember once again how blessed I am by family and friends who cross my path and inspire me by what they do and say; and by the beauty of Nature, her treasured gifts to protect and share; and by the music that brings joy and peace to my heart.
And each day as I awaken, and open my eyes to the rising sun, I step into another glorious day, giving humble thanks for all these things and so many more.

 Across the Miles
Two unlikely souls brought together, you and I, in what couldn't have been an accident, but simply meant to be. You cheered me up and made me smile when I could have cried all day; you motivated me when I just didn't feel like it; you made me hum a tune when I didn't feel much like singing. You inspired me to get out of myself and to find who was lost to me.
And across the years as the time has passed, and across many unspoken miles, I'm still blessed by your words, by your encouragement, by your smiles, by your laughter, by your tears.
We cry together in our sadness and joy, friends brought together in a most unlikely way.

The Wind Whispers
Breaking the silence of darkness just before dawn, muted whispers call to me, and I'm drawn once more to the edge of the day, that magical canvas of early morn.
I'm drawn to that place where the stars still shine and last night's moon, still suspended in a dream, is but a memory in these precious moments before the rising of the sun.
And as this muted darkness meets the lavish break of dawn I listen carefully to the wind as it sweeps across the waves, welcoming the morning and heralding the day as on the brink of this new day, the same ocean breezes that cradled my weary soul and rocked it to sleep as the day bid good night, awaken me now to this day and the dawn.
And renewed once more, I listen well to the whispers of the wind as I hear them calling me.

Me and My Shadow
Me and my shadow, oh the fun we have, my identical twin looking back at me. We dance under the sun and sing songs with the wind, running free in poppied fields of springtime and listening together to the sounds of the ocean on a summer's day, sea birds carrying us both to places far away.
We dream together, my shadow and me, for I have no better friend than my shadow I see right in front of me who takes my hand each and every day and is my own best friend.

Casting a Wary Eye
I cast a watchful and wary eye at those out there who seek to know just how I spend my time both night and day and try to put me on display for all to see , with bars of steel to keep me in and artificial lights that bother me.
I cast a watchful and wary eye at those who seek me out for the trophies they'll bring home; their sport, their pleasure at my expense an unconscionable tragedy.
In the jungle I seek to remain, to be myself without fear or pain.

 Return to Paradise
I can but just imagine what this world must have been, a paradise beyond compare, a memory lost in time.
I can but just imagine how it must have been, a time when life was simple and all creation sang a simple song of beauty perhaps never to return again.
I see the way it must have been and imagine myself right there as palm trees sway in tropical breezes so very long ago.
And ocean waves lull me to sleep and captivate my heart and carry me away in dreams so soothing to my soul.
And canopied oceans of crystal blue caress my wandering heart, as hummingbirds conduct Mother Nature's symphony as all of us take part in the sweetest song that fills the air and soothes my restless heart.
I can hardly help myself as I join Nature's melody, a song of peace and harmony, and look forward to returning once more to what was pristine before Mankind entered in.

My New Middle Name is Me
"Random" is my middle name, I'm sure it must be so, maybe not the one my parents had in mind when I was born so long ago. But "Random" it must surely be because as I look back at all the things I've ever done they sure look random to me (and in the very best way).
For the things I've done are all over the place, at least the ones I remember, the ones that were most fun. Spur of the moment and off the cuff are what "random" mean to me. Spontaneous and multi-tasking have always been the way for me to be myself and no one else. always quite random to me.
I suppose if there's another name for this condition that I have, it might be called "eclectic" for eclectic is what it is, a bit of this and a bit of that; here and there and everywhere, it's all quite random to me.
And I love it!

 Within My View
My senses alive, I'm awakened once more to the dawn of a new day and what is in store as morning begins to exit the darkness of night and welcomes me to her first breaking light.

And as Dawn meets Day coming into view are colors golden and red beginning to splash across the first page of my day as I open it carefully and savor the first illustration, eager to read the next.
And as I begin to read the pages as they unfold, brilliant illustrations gracing each page, the mountains rising out of the darkness and into the day, the second illustration gifted to me as I treasure each one with every page of the day.
And with each page more details of my day, the brilliant hues of the flowers in the garden the birds and butterfly wings, the autumn leaves dancing in the afternoon breeze.
Until finally the very last page, the sun setting and retiring for today on the way to tomorrow and a new chapter to be read, another day, another story as I'll read and treasure each one.
