Upon Wings of Silver
(Honoring the Pioneer Women of Flight)
Across a canvas of blue, their dreams of flight upon wings of silver, imaginations soaring with the eagles and birds of the sea, as dreaming of the day when they would fly, wings gleaming in the sun, their heads held high. And ignoring the warnings they looked straight ahead and flew into tomorrow's light. They paved the way for future flight and a brighter day for all who dream dreams big and small that children dream in a world where the imagination soars and wings take flight through Future's door and all things are possible now and forever more.

Rendezvous
We rendezvous silently, my words and me, as they tiptoe silently into my dreams of day and nighttime sojourns into midnight black velvet and moonbeams, angels' wings and starshine illuminations. Rapping on the window of my imagination, I can't help but notice their persistence as they take my hand and captivate my heart. And in moments of delight and tears and joy and sadness and excitement and poignant release we dance into the night and skip lightly into the day, welcoming the dawn and the painted canvas of morning's first light.
My heart rejoices and skips a beat as the words dance across an empty stage as I watch them from the wings, in breathless anticipation awaiting the encore.

Renewed
Each morning as I step into the day, I look around me and I can't help but say how thankful I am for new beginnings, each day a chance to begin anew, to start all over, to get it just right.
And thankful I am for those whose eyes see beyond the surface, who take the time to stop for a moment, to get to know some of what there is inside of me.
And thankful I am for those whose hands reach out to me to lend a hand, to wave hello, and show me that they see me, that they understand.
And thankful I am for the showers of Spring, as Nature sings her beautiful song, renewed and refreshed, new beginnings once more.

Words Taking Flight
I took a piece of paper very plain and very white, no words written upon it as I placed it in front of me. I began to think about many things not the least of which what you meant to me. And I picked up my pen, a simple one, and began to write some words. They flowed onto the paper almost magically, words coming from within my heart.
They came from somewhere deep inside and they said how much I cared and what you really meant to me. The words kept flowing from my pen; I had trouble stopping there, but ended it with a seal and a kiss and put the pen away.
I folded the paper carefully, each corner, each side just right. And I took my paper airplane to the beach with me that day. And I watched the waves and the seabird's flight and thought I heard your voice as it called to me from somewhere far away.
So I took my paper airplane, words written upon it just so and corners folded so very right so it would immediately take to flight. And I sent my paper airplane with my thoughts written with so much care, I sent it on its way to you with a kiss and a little prayer.

Toward the Spring
Summer has slipped quietly into autumn garb, gold and crimson in the sun of an afternoon grown shorter as shadows lengthen toward evening's subtle glow and daylight begins to fade, Day preparing her royal velvet gown for the evening waltz toward morning's light.

And once more Summer has slipped through my grasp without my notice of her silent exit. No fanfare, no fireworks no herald trumpets as Autumn quietly assumes her throne, adorned in robes of crimson and gold, royalty's splendor.

And with the approach of Winter's crystalline dance, I look forward to the time when, awakened from sweet slumber, my heart and soul, once again refreshed through the hope and promise of all new things, are born again and renewed once more in the Spring.

The Sweetest Tune
It was tucked away in the corner of the closet where it had rested for so many years. But that old violin was wrapped with care with a loving touch though left alone in the corner of the closet, unplayed though never forgotten.
And every once in a while she would see it there sitting in the corner of the closet where after so many years of sitting there, it began to take on a life of its own once again as she recalled that very first day she brought it home in that felt-lined case, so proud she was of what she had done. And she would practice and practice, trying to get it just right, that sound that became so familiar to her ears. Until finally one day, she put it away, wrapped it up and put it there in the corner of the closet until there came a time when she spied it there and took it out of the case tightened the strings and played a note or two, and remembered once more what fun it had been to play upon that old violin.
And with each note she played on that day more memories until she vowed never to put that violin away in a corner of the closet but to keep it where every day she picks it up and plays a tune or two (and on most days many more).
And now every day that violin sings a melody, though not always exactly in tune, but a sweet tune nonetheless and one that she loves as it sings to her soul and comes from her heart.

Twilight's Glow
Awaiting twilight's glow, as the sun balances on the edge of day and dances one last time, slowly dipping below the horizon on the way to morning's first light and a new day.

I can only watch in complete silence, speechless as I give thanks for today and join in this magical dance toward tomorrow and a new day,

twilight's glow soothing my restless heart and caressing the rough edges of my soul.

Autumn in Motion
Leaves crimson and gold floating on a breath of wind to rest on the ground.
Sunflowers golden dancing in the autumn fields swaying with the breeze.
Autumn apples blush ripening under the sun of an afternoon.
Anticipating the very first flake of snow I simply must smile.
Autumn tiptoes out as winter makes an entrance, crystalline and white.
