SEVENTH STREET 12 (MOM AND POP)

SEVENTH STREET 12 (MOM AND POP)

I know I mentioned how on Seventh street we had so many animals.. well we had tons of chickens besides all of the others animals. Our place was literally a zoo. My grandfather lived a couple miles away from us and he always grew his own vegetables. He wasn't having a lot of luck with his soil though and had some bad crops of vegetables. He figured out that our soil was rich in chicken poop. lol! He came over a few times and loaded his truck with dirt from all over our yard and took it home to use in his garden. I always loved helping him in the garden. I would pull weeds for him and he would give me a dollar or two (that was a lot to me then) for helping him. Being over at Pops (that's what we called him) was always sO great! My grandmother was such a sweet woman too. Pop could be a rascal if you got loud or ran around being rambunctious as he called it. Of course Pop was always a rascal cause we were always rambunctious..lol!!  Mom was the best cook.. (we called her Mom) even a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was the best I ever tasted!

One time it was near Father's day and I knew how much Pop loved the smell of dirt.. so I put a handful of dirt in an envelope and gave it to him for Father's day.. He almost cried!!

I had the greatest times at Mom and Pop's house...

SEVENTH STREET 11 (EXPLORING A HAUNTED HOUSE

SEVENTH STREET 11 (EXPLORING A HAUNTED HOUSE)

One day us kids were walking to the Art Museum it was just a few blocks away.. Well we saw this giant 4 story house that looked abandoned. Of course we had to investigate. It ws impossible to get in the front door there was a big hornets nest guarding the front door, very weird. Being us kids.. curious. We went around to the back and found a loose board that we opened and were able to get inside. Once in we were almost ready to run for the hills! LOL! In the living room was a big piano wirh a bottle of wine sitting on it. The whole room was pitch black and there were weird satanic paintings everywhere. It actually looked like someone had just been there. We went exploring.. upstairs we found a room that had tables with chairs and checkered table cloths on all of them it looked like a diner! We were getting spooked t this point but went on.. next was a room that was full of bibles up to the ceiling! We were scared! We found secret compartments everywhere.. We were still exploring when we started to feel very cold so we all looked at each other and yelled.. "let's get out of here!" That house was visited by us many times over the years.. Everytime we went there we found something new and different yet it was abandoned! True story!

SEVENTH STREET 10 (POOL HOPPING)

                                 SEVENTH STREET 10 (POOL HOPPING)

Seventh Street... Oh the memories...In the Summer time us kids (being poors as we were) we had no place to go swimming. So we would get our shorts and tee shirts on and go "pool hopping." There was a really rich neighborhood right by us so we would go to each house and all 5 of us would knock on the door and ask with our dirty little faces looking innocent (yeah real innocent..lol) can we swim in your pool? Some of the people with their snooty faces would look at us and slam the door..Well when they did that we would just wait a few minutes and sneak around and hop their fence and go swimming. Pretty soon someone would come out and scream "oh my God look at you little brats!" "Get out!!" We would just climb out and say.. "Thanks" and go on to the next house. Some of the rich folks would actually say sure go ahead.. That was always nice! We would do this all day long almost every day. We even met  a movie star that let us go swimming.. fed us lunch and showed us all kinds of things from the show High Chapparal an old western show!  We did fine as long as that darn Fred didn't come along.. Well he liked to swim too.. he was a goose after all...lol!!

One day when I was just a child

My daddy bought me fuzzy ducks

So sweet,  cute, tender and mild

Running wild as the chickens cluck

I loved so my Danny and Darlene

They grew up but were still my pets

The two in love a precious scene

Beloved in memory now they rest

SEVENTH STREET 9 (ONE FINE DAY)

SEVENTH STREET 9 (ONE FINE DAY)

We had so much junk in our yard .. we had old refrigerators and couches and broken down cars.. it was like a junkyard.. well as a kid I decided I was going to be an actress (yeah right) when I grew up. I would do the silliest things but one day.. I was outside pretending I was doing a commercial for refrigerators..lol. I was really going to town acting like I was modeling the thing and everything. I was doing real good.. I thought! I didn't think any of the kids were outside and then my little brother comes out of nowhere and aks me what do you think your doing.. you look so stupid.. (he watched my whole performance) whap a sock in the gut.. ouch! So embarassing and what's even funnier is my older brother the whole time was in an old car in our yard with all the windows rolled tight in the summertime mind you.. seeing how sweaty he would get and how long he could sit in the car without passing out..  He looked so ridiculous I didn't feel so bad.. he was drenched in sweat and red as a beet, ABOUT TO PASS OUT...  I wondered did he have a watch timing this whole absurd thing..lol!!
