Our wonderful school system
Posted On 03/15/2007 03:44:48
I just had a conversation with a friend of mine who is a teacher at an elementary school. I don't feel I can give the location, not even an approximate area of where she is because I don't want to cause her any conflict if someone from her school sees this. Let's just say there was an incident at this school with a child bringing in some type of weapon to school. It wasn't the type that could really kill anyone, I don't think, but still, it was a weapon all the same. There was another student involved who was injured, and thank God the injury wasn't anything serious.

The kid with the weapon does get suspended from school, but when he gets to return to school, it is expected to treat this incident as if it never happened. What??? Why is this student is even allowed to return to school at all? What are the chances of him bringing in an actual weapon and really causing some horrific scene? This is usually a problem in the high schools, but now it's trickling down to elelmentary school? Do his parents have any concern he brought a weapon to school? The object he brought to school would have been large enough for someone to see he was carrying it. How was he able to bring this weapon to school in the first place?

In my opinion, this is all been brought about because parents are fearful of disciplining their own children. I understand there are children who are abused, but there is a major difference between disciplining and abusing a child. Sometimes as horrible as it is, a kid needs to have a couple of swats on the behind. I had been spanked a few times while growing up. I didn't care for it, but I needed to be taught something. And no, I wasn't taught violence or whatever people are saying about spanking nowadays. My husband was brought up in the South, he had to cut his own switch and if it wasn't big enough his mom would go out and cut one herself. I guess times change, but has it been for the better? We have more juvenile problems now with the generations coming up at this time than we did 30 years ago. Kids are totally out of control and parents stand back because they don't know what to do.

When we were living in Germany, at the time we only had one TV channel, AFN. Everyday you would see an AFN commercial come on about domestic abuse or child abuse, that if you suspected anything, you were to contact the MP's. After kids seeing enough of these types of commercials, they get the idea to notify the authorites everytime they think they're being abused. Parents' hands are tied because kids use it as a threat. I remember watching one of those talk shows a few years back. This FOUR YEAR OLD little boy would tell his mother he would call 911 if she punished him in any way. She was terrified of her own kid because this boy did in fact call 911 and reported her for abuse at another time. The mom and son were both on the talk show and he was a complete tyrant to her. She's crying on the set because she' beside herself not knowing what to do with this kid. I've watched Super Nanny a few times and I am amazed at how the parents allow their kids to act the way they do. In Oklahoma they ok'ed a law giving parents PERMISSION to spank their kids. What the hell is that all about? Parents need permission to swat their kids on the behind? And people wonder what's wrong with our society.

A friend forwarded this to me in an email and I had to share, most important because I support our troops, my husband was a Viet Nam vet, and secondly Montana is my home. I've never eaten at this resturant, but I have heard of it. When I make my trip to see my Dad this coming summer, I think we'll be making a trip to Manhattan and have dinner at Sir Scott's.

Dinner in Montana

This is one of the best things I've read in ages!!!!! I wish I could go there for dinner!!!!

Montana Restaurant:
This is a great story! The radio station America FM was doing one of its "Is Anyone Listening?" bits this morning. The first question was, "Ever have a celebrity pull up with the 'Do you know who I am?' routine?"
A woman called in and said that a few years a go, while visiting her cattle rancher uncle in Billings, MT, she had occasion to go to dinner at a restaurant that does not take reservations The wait was about 45 minutes; many ranchers and their wives were waiting.

Ted Turner and his ex-wife Jane Fonda came in the restaurant and wanted a table. The hostess informed them that they'd have to wait 45 minutes. Jane Fonda asked the hostess, "Do you know who I am?" The hostess answered, "Yes, but you'll have to wait 45 minutes." Then Jane asked if the manager was in. When the manager came out, he asked, "May I help you?" "Do you know who we are?" both Ted and Jane asked. "Yes, but these folks have been waiting, and I can't put you ahead of them."
Then Ted asked to speak to the owner. The owner came out, and Jane again asked, "Do you know who I am?" The owner answered, "Yes, I do. Do you know who I am? I am the owner of this restaurant and I am a Vietnam Veteran. Not only will you not get a table ahead of my friends and neighbors who have been waiting here, but you also will not be eating in my restaurant tonight or any night. Good bye."

Only in America - what a great country.

To all who received this e-mail, this is a true story and the name of the steak house is:
Sir Scott's Oasis Steakhouse, 204 W. Main, Manhattan, MT 59741 (406) 284-6929

If you ever get there, give this fellow a sharp salute, buy a steak, and tip the waitress. Keep passing this on. We should never forget our national traitor! And let's not forget what "our gal" Hillary said to the troops in Iraq, "This war has no support from the American public."

Have any of you heard this piece of news that's been going on in Arizona? I wasn't home the day this broke, but my daughter called and told me about it. She heard it on Nancy Grace, and also told me she remembered seeing this school when she was visiting us.

A 29 year old man has been posing as a 7th grader (he claimed to be 12 years old) in several schools in different towns in Arizona. One of the schools he had been enrolled in is not more than a 10 minute drive from my house! He attended this school from August to November last year undetected by school authorities. How is this possible that a 29 year old man can be enroll in a middle school and pass as a 12 year old?

The alias he used as the student was Casey Price, his real name is Neil Havens Rodreick II. The article in the Arizona Republic goes as saying, "Rodreick walked, talked and dressed like a teenager. At 5 feet 6 and 120 pounds, he was small enough not to raise suspicion. He shaved his body hair and wore pancake makeup to hide his age." "By all accounts he was quiet, he kept to himself most of the time and appeared to be a good student. He did his homework and turned it in," Cagle said.

The article continues saying that he was such a good con-man, he convinced two other men that he was 12. Apparently Rodreick met these two men, Lonnie Stiffler and Robert Snow over the Internet two years ago, then they all met in person in Oklahoma. On the 17th of January, there were school officials that reported suspicious and possible fraudulent student registration paperwork. It seems that Stiffler tried to enroll the "boy" (Rodreick)in school and claimed he was his grandson. There was an investigation by the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office and an arrest had been made. "Charges against Rodreick and the men include fraud, forgery and identity theft. Rodreick, Nellis and Snow also were charged with failing to register as sex offenders in Yavapai County.

I am amazed, that Rodreick could get by with this for so long and in differnt towns in Arizona before finally getting caught. I worked as a Teacher's Aide for learming impaired students at Ramstein Elementary School at Ramstein Air Base in Germany for three years. I think I would have been able to recognize an age difference, especially with a gap that huge...we're talking about a 17 year age difference!! I don't understand how someone in any of these schools couldn't have picked up on this.

If this has happened numerous times in this state, it makes you wonder if this has been done in other states as well. What will it take to protect our children from these sick perverts. I'm thankful my kids are out of school, but now it's the grandchildren to worry about.

I know I'm going out on the limb for saying this, but I don't believe child molestors can ever be rehabilitated. I think once a person molests, they'll keep molesting. These people are nothing short of being animals and either should be locked up forever, or put down like the animals they are. They do nothing but ruin innocent lives, and it's time something needs to be done about this.

While on this subject...what's with all these women teachers having sex with their students? I think there is a double standard when it comes to the female teachers doing this compared to the males. Could you imagine what would happen to a male teacher having sex with one of his students, boy or girl? He'd be crucified quicker than you could shake a stick. What's with this Debra Favra, whatever her last name is. I couldn't believe the judge saying she was too pretty go to to jail, and all she gets is house arrest?!? She MOLESTED a child!! What's wrong with this picture?

I've watched Dateline a few times where newsman Chris Hansen is talking to men who come parading into this decoy house one after the other thinking they're going to have sex with an underaged child. Are we that sick of a nation? How someone can get aroused by being with a child is beyond my comprehension. I was so blessed that I never experienced anything like this growing up, as well as my children never have either. It's a different time now. These are babies, this shouldn't be happening, and it's horrible there are animals out there preying on our little ones.

Makes you wonder

Makes you wonder

How can someone be so cocky and arrogant and be so willing and looking forward to going to court, knowing that there is information on them that would prove they have done nothing but lie and steal? Why would anyone want to put themselves through that type of embarrassment?

I am amazed at the cavalierness of my sister-in-law with her brother. He sent her a list of questions in regard to their father's estate. When he hadn't heard from her, he emailed and told her if she didn't respond within a certain time frame, that he would get in contact with his attorney to set a court date. We finally heard from her and was amazed with the non-chalant attitude she had, saying her brother had an "endless list of questions". Doesn't he have the right to know what was going on with his father's estate as much as she did? She doesn't think so, and has avoided her brother's questions for over two years.

How can you lie in a letter that you are sending to an attorney? She states in her letter that my husband assumes his father had no personal bills, that he had two cars, a house, car and house insurance, taxes and bills for himself. My father-in-law was debt free, until she convinced him to sign for an equity line of credit on a house that had been paid off for 14 years. He did own two cars, but they both had been paid off long ago. He did have car insurance, but once he moved in with her, he wasn't driving any longer, so the insurance was dropped. The house insurance was in trouble a couple of times because she decided she didn't want to pay the premiums. We had to pay it once to keep it from being canceled. Eventually the insurance on the house was canceled because the insurance company my father-in-law was going through would not insure the house any longer because it had been left vacant for over a year. Taxes, let's see...she decided not to pay the property taxes for two years, and the house had been sold on the courthouse steps in a tax sale because of failure to pay taxes. She had the property within eight days of foreclosure because she wasn't paying on the line of credit with the money from the line of credit that SHE had in her possession. Yet, nothing happens to her.

There is an ongoing thing about a scooter and lift their father needed. The cost of the scooter and lift was $6, 270.00, she does have receipts showing that. But, she neglects to say that her father's insurance and Medicare reimbursed about 80% of this, so in truth, the scooter and lift only cost $3, 848.00. She mentions in her letter that she would like to keep the scooter and her brother is welcomed to have the lift. What are we going to do with a lift? We believe she has sold the scooter some time ago and has pocketed the money, and no doubt was going to claim this against the estate along with all her other claims. She now says she's willing to take whatever the value the scooter is off of her side of the inheritence. The only reason she is so willing to do this is because her attorney advised her to drop all claims she filed against the estate because they were false.

There should have been over $77, 000.00 in my father-in-law's checking and savings accounts if his daughter hadn't gone through and stole every cent he had. There was no need for him to have a line of credit put on his house because he had no outstanding bills. The bills he had were your normal everyday living expenses...utilities, food, insurance, taxes. He had no loans, credit card debt...nothing. He had two retirement checks plus his Social Security checks, amounting to a total of $2, 400.00 a month. This was enough to pay whatever outgoing expenses he had easily.

The $77, 000.00 is gone and the $35, 000.00 line of credit is gone. In a two-and-a-half year period, she has gone through $112, 000.00 and STILL wants more! She tried filing false claims through the probate court saying she paid all the bills with her own funds, when in actuality, she used the money from the line of credit, which was considered estate funds. There was a question about her using her mother's credit card after her mother died. When checking on his father's credit card, my husband found out his mother's credit card had been sent to the credit card fraud division for suspicious use. She stole $7, 000.00 from her father's checking account. The list is endless, and yet nothing happens to her. I guess this is ok to steal, forge, coherse, etc. because nothing will happen to you. This is the perfect crime. But, how do you live with yourself after the fact?

WE FINALLY HEARD FROM SIS!!

WE FINALLY HEARD FROM SIS!!
Current mood: pissed off
Category: Life

Well, how 'bout that? It's only been a month, but we finally heard from her. Amazing what kind of action you get when you mention court date.

Here is the latest letter we received. And if you're confused, think how confused we are.

Attatched please find the answers to my brother's never ending list of questions, I had to number the packets as they are repetitious and that was the only way to keep them in some order. I also attatched the first page of each packet, so you can see which answers go with which questions.

In packet V, you will notice receipts listing the scooter and lift equaling the $6,270.00 (my brother apparently can't read these as he lists scooter and lift as $3,848.00).

He also assumes that my father had no personal bills, he had two cars, a house, car insurance, house insurance, taxes and bills for himself. My father paid his own bills until he died, he did not pay me to pay his bills. He gave me $1000.00 a month to help offset the $14,000.00 salary I lost when I went from a salaried position to a part time hourly position so I would have time to take care of him. He was not giving me $1000.00 a month for me to pay his bills. The $25,000.00 that my father left me to pay his final expenses is accounted for except for $207.00 (attatched chart). Since these are real bills with receipts (most already claimed at the court) with the exception of the $2000.00 that my father asked me to give my sister should something happen to him for her expenses of getting to my house and the funeral, my brother must accept that I have paid bills for the estate with that money. I will withdraw the claim on the estate and take the $2000.00 I gave my sister off my half of the estate. I will also not take the value ($5,890.00) of the Dodge from his side of the estate (I think that's what he did on his chart!-it's actually not even readable). Since I would also like to keep the scooter, I will find out the actual value of it now and will take that off my half of the estate. The lift my brother is welcomed to have, however, then he would also have the value of that to take into consideration.

My father brought the Colt 45 here with him when he moved, my brother can have it once the estate is closed and he can find a way to have it shipped legally. I never told him he could not have it. The Dodge is waiting for him to pick up, I only told him that there is no insurance or tags on it.

I have also attatched the financial records the the lawyer here in ********* suggested that I keep for reference when my father moved here.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Sincerely,

Yada yada yada

Ok, now let's discect this a little bit. If you've read my first blog, titled "Elder Abuse, Siblings and Justice", you will read a lot of information there that isn't discussed here.

1. "In packet V, you will notice receipts listing the scooter and lift equaling the $6,270.00 (my brother apparently can't read these as he lists scooter and lift as $3,848.00)."

It's true that the combined cost of the scooter and lift was $6,270.00. But, what my sister-in-law failed to mention was that on Oct. 19, 2004 Medicare reimbursed my father-in-law $2,827.99 for the scooter. The remaining $407.01 was sent to Tricare for Life, which reimbursed 80% or $325.65. In reality, my father-in-law only paid $3,153.59 for both scooter and lift. She also, out of this $6,270.00 said that he purchased a set of tires for $440.05 and a trailer hitch for $205.00. The total cost of everything combined is $3,798.64. What happened to the remaining $2,471.36?

**********************************************************************

2. ..."my father had no personal bills, he had two cars, a house, car insurance, house insurance, taxes and bills for himself."

What two cars? Both the 1984 Mercury Grand Marquis and the 1997 Dodge Ram pickup had been paid off for years. House? That was paid off in 1993. Car insurance? Don't know about the car since that was still parked on the property, truck insurance, I remember something about not being able to get my father-in-law a driver's license in the new state he was living in, so the truck was not registered after the due date for new tags. House insurance? That was almost canceled a few times because she "neglected" to pay it. We had to come up with one of the quartlery payments to keep the insurance current. Finally, the insurance was canceled because it was an unoccupied structure for over a year. Taxes? Taxes were not paid for the year 2005 and 2006. The amount due was $660.47. Since she neglected to pay this, the property was sold on the court house steps in a tax sale for failure to pay taxes. Bills for himself? What bills? He was debt-free until the $35,000.00 line of credit she talked him into signing for. Other than that, he had no bills, no car loans, no mortgage, no credit card debt. If he did have any bills, the money he had coming in monthly from his two retirement checks and social security which totaled $2,400.00 a month would have been enough to pay any bills he had.

**********************************************************************

3. "He gave me $1000.00 a month to help offset the $14,000.00 salary I lost when I went from a salaried position to a part time hourly position so I would have time to take care of him. He was not giving me $1000.00 a month for me to pay his bills."

This is a figure my husband had thrown out there giving her the benefit of the doubt that this is what was spent on him monthly, and she used it for her advantage. I'll get back to this subject later.

**********************************************************************

4. "The $25,000.00 that my father left me to pay his final expenses is accounted for except for $207.00 (attatched chart). Since these are real bills with receipts (most already claimed at the court) with the exception of the $2000.00 that my father asked me to give my sister should something happen to him for her expenses of getting to my house and the funeral, my brother must accept that I have paid bills for the estate with that money."

The $25,000.00 her father left her? He didn't leave her this money, this was the money from the LINE OF CREDIT she talked him into signing for on a house that had been PAID OFF for 14 years. Yes, she paid the bills for the estate with that money, but that money was estate money, and she was trying to send in false claims to get all that money back. Any money you are claiming on an estate has to be from your own personal funds. This $25,000.00 WAS NOT from her personal funds, but she wants to think it was.

***********************************************************************

5. "I will withdraw the claim on the estate and take the $2000.00 I gave my sister off my half of the estate."

If this claim on the estate was not falsified, why then is she withdrawing this claim? Why is she taking the $2,000.00 she gave her sister, (and this is a half-sister), off her half of the estate?

***********************************************************************

6. "I will also not take the value ($5,890.00) of the Dodge from his side of the estate (I think that's what he did on his chart!-it's actually not even readable)."

What she's talking about here, we have no clue. She said she had a chart, we're wondering where this chart is.

***********************************************************************

7. "Since I would also like to keep the scooter, I will find out the actual value of it now and will take that off my half of the estate. The lift my brother is welcomed to have, however, then he would also have the value of that to take into consideration."

My husband has asked his sister a couple of times about the scooter and lift. She claims both items are still at her house. I find it weird that she wants to keep the scooter and she's giving us the lift. What would we want with a lift with no scooter? Does that make any sense? We're thinking she has already sold the scooter and pocketed the money and was trying to reclaim it against the estate. What do you think?

**********************************************************************

8. "My father brought the Colt 45 here with him when he moved, my brother can have it once the estate is closed and he can find a way to have it shipped legally."

Uh, there is a little bit of a different story concerning the Colt 45. My husband and his sister were talking on the phone one evening. She told my husband she brought all the handguns to her residence, that she didn't want to leave them with their father. My husband specifically asked her about the Colt 45 because it was well known in that family that my husband was to receive it after his father's death. She informed him she brought that gun with her as well. Since she was the one who decided to take that gun with her, why should my husband have to pay for it to be shipped back to him?

***********************************************************************

9. "I have also attatched the financial records the the lawyer here in ********* suggested that I keep for reference when my father moved here.

What she's talking about here, we have no clue about. She had been asked numerous times to send my husbnad receipts on his father's business, but none was forthcoming. She always talks about having everything accounted for and written out. If that's true, why has it been so difficult to get any of this information?

As the estate attorney told my husband, he has just as much right to know what was going on with his father's finances and estate just as much as his sister. But, for some reason he has yet to get the information he's wanting. So, I guess subponeas will be issued to various places so he will be able to get what he wants. If there was nothing for his sister to hide, she shouldn't of had a problem with sending him everything he requested. After all, she said she had everything accounted for. Uh huh...riiiiggghhht.

If you don't think this can't or won't happen to you, you better think agai...

I posted a blog about elder abuse a few weeks ago on my page on MySpace and have since heard from a friend who is going through the same circumstances as my husband. She has many very interesting articles on her site that I think would be of value to anyone who is interested in learning more about this crime that is taking place in this country.

If you would be interested in learning more, please go to my page on MySpace, go to search, type in my display name, Icelandic Woman in the find a friend box under display name. You will see Margurita's picture on my friend's list. Click on her picture, go to view all blog enteries. Very interesting! There you will see many articles and videos that she has posted.

My goal is to get the word out on this crime so more people will be aware of what's happening to our elders. Just think, one of these days this coud be YOU. After all, time does not stand still, we all are getting a little older with each day that passes. Take care.

Happy New Year (farsælt komandi ár) Skál!
Posted On 01/06/2007 06:45:20
Hi everyone!

Just want to wish you all a wonderful New Year, and I pray 2007 is kind to all of us. And no, I'm not going to bore you with yet another story about my sister-in-law and her antics...this time...lol. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop first.

I was going to write this in the "Turn Ons" section on my page, but figured it was too long, so thought I would put this in a blog instead. Recently my newfound interest has been in alternative medicine and I've been doing some research here and there. I know what some thoughts on this might be, and I have had the same mindset. I'm looking at it this way, as we get older, any little thing to help is worth checking into, besides, it's natural.

Have you noticed you're hearing more about anti-oxidants, Omega 3 fats, immune system, whole grains in cereal, pasta, etc? It kind of seems the medical profession is starting to use alternative methods in their practices also. Just the other day I had Fox News on and someone was talking to Shepard Smith about the food industry is going to start or is already putting Omega 3 fats in different food products. The guest he had on his show was also saying people would really be helping themselves by eating more Omega 3 fat foods such as the oily types of fish. The only one that comes to mind right now is salmon. I am not a big fan of fish myself, so I would rather have the flax seed option. She advised getting ground flax seed and sprinkling and mixing some on all the food you eat. You can also use flax seed oil, but don't cook with it. Too high of heat will take out all of the health benefits.

In some of the research I've done, I've been finding out that inflammation seems to be the catapult to most diseases. Inflammation is not only arthritis, it also is diabetes, heart disease, cancer, lupus, and the list goes on. I read a book titled, "The Anti-inflammation Zone" by Barry Sears. He talks about a non-inflamatory diet, what to avoid eating that causes inflammation, etc. He mentioned that even if you don't follow his eating plan, that the best thing you can do for yourself is to find a good quality ultra refined fish oil supplement. He has a website, www.drsears.com that has many interesting articles to read if you're interested.

Like I stated earlier, I know what some people think of alternative medicine, that it's quackery. Some of it is, you have to be careful when you're looking into it. But I have known some people where natural methods have helped them more than conventional medicine, myself included, and I wasn't even aware of it. My experience is I have had high cholestorol for approximately 10 years along with a hypothyroid. I read somewhere that a hypothyroid will keep your cholestorol high. I finally got mine down to anywhere from 195 to 199 and had the luck that my good cholestorol was high, so my doctor wasn't too concerned. I started drinking green tea because I heard of the anti-oxidants and other health benefits. I can't remember if I heard about the benefits it had for cholestorol at that time, but I broke myself off the soda and started drinking the tea more frequently. In a years time, I went in for my yearly cholestorol check and it dropped from 192 in 2005 to 175 last year! I talked to a nutritionist later in the year because I'm trying to get rid of 50 pounds give or take and I'm having a real tough go of it because of this stupid thyroid problem, and menopause. I told her about drinking the green tea and how it lowered my cholestorol, and she did tell me there is some components in the green tea that will do just that. I'm not suggesting anyone quit taking their cholestorol meds and start drinking the tea, but maybe what you could try is to drink a few cups/glasses of it a day and try it for a few months or year and see how your readings are after you've got it in your system. I don't care for hot tea, so I drink mine iced with a little lemon and sweetner. There is nothing like a good glass of iced tea. It has a little different taste than regular tea, you can definitely tell it's herbal, but with a little lemon and sweetner, it tastes more like lemonade. It's not a very strong flavored tea like most.

Something else I heard about is curcumin. Curcumin is the active ingredient of the Indian curry spice turmeric and is used as an anti-inflamatory. A Dr. Bharat Aggarwal from the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas has done studies on curcumin and it's effects on cancer and this has shown very promising results. I sent Dr. Aggarwal an email at M.D. Anderson asking about curcumin and he responded within two days with information. He gave me a regimen of how much curcumin you needed to take if you have cancer and how much to take if you don't. I read an article about him a couple of years ago and he was quoted as saying if there was anyone who wanted to prevent themselves from getting cancer, his advice would be for that person to get themselves on curcumin. The amount he said was 500mg a day was all that would be needed. Dr. Aggarwal also gave me a website talking about curcumin and I also have another one I'd like to share with anyone who has an interest in this....www.agelesscures.com and www.curcuminhealth.info.

With it being the new year and people making their New Year's Resoultions, I thought I would share this with all who would have an interest in doing a little something extra for themselves. Again, Happy New Year, and I hope this year brings good things to all, and Lord willing, keep us all safe. God bless. Take care.

Elder Abuse Part Two
Posted On 01/01/2007 08:07:40
It's a new year and hopefully an end is in sight concerning my father-in-law's estate issues. I have a couple of reasons for writing and updating this blog; one is, to get things off my chest, and two, to maybe be of some help for others who are going through the same ordeal. I guess I can consider myself lucky, as I am an only child. I won't have to go through any of this when my father passes away. I remember as a child always wanting a brother or sister so I would have someone. I remember hearing all the stories my mother would tell about her and her sisters when they were growing up and wishing I could have had those memories too. My mother is now gone, and the day will come when my father will leave, then it will only be me left. I wish I had someone who would be there when that time comes so I won't have to go it alone. It was difficult enough when I lost Mom, I can't imagine how it's going to be when I lose Dad. I know I have my husband and my children, but it's not the same, the bond isn't there. Maybe I'm too delusional in my thinking. Maybe this doesn't even exisit, this Norman Rockwell image I have in my head. That's a shame...especially during a time like this. I don't think any parent would expect such animosity between their children. My husband as yet to grieve over losing his father. He hasn't had the chance because of the time and energy it has taken him to gather information on all his sister's activities. After a two year period, I have to say it's been amazing.

What I am writing about is happening more and more in this country. In fact, congress is now getting involved and is in the process of passing laws making elder abuse a crime. In my first blog, "Elder Abuse, Siblings and Justice", I go into more detail about what has happened and is happening in my husband's case. A condensed version is, my sister-in-law took total advantage of her aging father. She lied, manipulated and stole from him for her own personal gain, causing an 82 year old man who had no debt, (his home had been paid off for years, he had no loans, credit card debt, ect.) to die in debt and penniless. She went to great lengths keeping her brother in the dark as to what all she was doing. Anything he wanted to find out, he had to do on his own because she wasn't going to give him any information. If you read my first blog, toward the end, I give a few examples of things that need to be looked at very carefully if you suspect someone involved in elder abuse. It might look innocent enough, but is it really?

Our story which is in it's second-and-a-half year, starting one year before my father-in-law even passed away, has taken yet another turn. All the questions my husband had forwarded my sister-in-law's attorney goes unanswered. Instead, the attorney has offered a proposal that my sister-in-law is to drop all of her claims (over $16,300.00) against their father's estate to avoid any further expensive litigations. Now, this is getting interesting. In all 11 letters my husband forwarded to her attorney, there was not ONE disagreement from his sister of any of the things he was accusing her of doing. Hmm....could this mean we are finally coming to a close in this mess? Could this mean her attorney believes she doesn't have a chance in hell to win this and that she is going to have to agree with her brother's proposal, or take a chance and go to court and possibly lose everything? Greed only goes so far, then it turns on you.

Everything will depend on what the probate court decides. My hope is the court will make a fair decision in this matter and see the evilness of the actions of my sister-in-law.

When all is said and done concerning this matter, I will post again. My hope and prayer is that things come to an end this year and we can put this issue to rest...enough is enough.
