Perhaps the music that most reminds me of the War in Veit Nam is this song. There was a lot of Viet Nam music during the time of the war. I don't really know why this tune has stuck in my mind it just does. Just like at the Viet Nam War mem ...orial that came to Waco, Texas several years ago. It was not that black wall with all those names on it but I had the sorrow, I came back physically in one piece but emotionally not so much. The tears came at one of the side displays that brought it all back. Of all things it was a C Ration can of Turkey Loaf under a glass cover. My favorite C Rat while I was there. It was like that can of Ham and Lima beans. At first we dipped off the grease from the top of the can but later we just stired it in when we heated it up with our sterno or over a fire. My wife had to lead me away. Anyway For all you guys who was there especially the Marines Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUUYlztf064&feature=related

I just added Aquaris fron the musical Hair to my video uploads. Hair began in October of 1967 off Broadway as an anti war statement. It became a classic stage production. I had been home from Viet Nam about a year earlier. In a community production I appeared in this musical as an actor, singer, and dancer in the mid 1980's. Rather ironic with me, a Marine, who saw action in Viet Nam in 1965-1966. But, the music is great. Why did I do it---I really don't know but I was offered a spot in the cast and I loved my stage work so I took the opertunity to play a flower child hippy and as I said the music was wonderful. I wore a wig, tie died cloths and head band. It was groovy! In the nude scene let's jusy say I didn't let it all hang out---grins. Spandex is great stuff and a little goes a long way!

Hello I am RON also known in my Renaissance Fair Circles as Squinty the Pirate. Several years ago I had Bells Palsey on the left side of my face and my left eye never totally came back. I still have a slight droop there so Squint Eye seemed like a good Pirate Name Thus The Pirate in me was born!! Now, You Know where my name came from. I have fun playing the part. I model my Character after SMEEEEEEEE from Peter Pan. During the last 15 years I have grown into my part. Now for health reason of myself and my wife I don't get out to the Renaissance Fairs as often as I would like. I still keep in touch with my many friends mostly through Facebook.

I was with the first Marines that was sent to Viet Nam in 1965 around March I expect, at least it was toward the start of the Monsoons. I returned home in June of 1966. It was a long time before I finally went to see a movie about the conflict I took part in. The movie was "Apocalyptcs Now". It made me sick to see how the soldiers were protrayed in that movie and in "The Deer Hunter" no wonder that people here in American thought we to be all dope heads and those early movies of the war has stuck to us that servered even today. They made me sick. FINALLY, it was Oliver Stone's movie PLATOON that got it close with "HAMBERGER HILL" in there a close second as well as FULL METAL JACKET. Another outstanding movie that got it right was FIREBASE GLORIA. When I returned to the real world I never discussed my service in Viet Nam as I just didn't want to listen to the crap with the anti war protesters of that era. While in uniform coming home at LAX airport in California I was actually spit at by two High School/college age girls as I was walking to my gate. I was shocked. There was no Viet Nam when I enlisted in the Marines in 1963. I was stationed in Okinwa, Japan when we were calledby President Johnson into action in 1965 at a Place called Chu Lai in I CORP about 50 miles south of Danang. We didn't even know where Viet Nam was. I've really never talked about it much till recently. Even my family knows little of my experiences there even today. I just basically say I was there in the Marines and I have a disability from my service there from the VA. Interestingly when I retired 4 years ago I went back to college at Baylor University. One day I wore my Viet Nam Vet hat and actually had two professor apologies to me for their protest activities as they went to BERKLEY University during the war and protested against it. Now that floored me to say the least.

I posted a picture of me in my gallery when I was 19 years old, the year I graduated from High School at Campus High school in Wichita, Kansas. I was somewhat of a regular in the local version of American Bandstand. I was an active actor and I worked at the local roller skating rink. I suspose one would have called me popular. It was also the year I fell head over heals in love But, with me going away to Kansas State University it only lasted a year. She became the Home Coming Queen Runner up and later married the High School star football full back. Like most first loves it is still there but put in a private place in my other life. We both had two girls---HUMMmmm What might have been. I would be intersting to have lived that time line.
I am married to a lovely lady, Dianna, for 46 years and we keep renewing the contract each year though now we are both retired and still look after each other. In 1961 little did I know that 2 years later I would be in The Marines about 6 weeks after President Kennedy was shot and Killed. I would find myself on the beach at Chu Lia Viet Nam around May in1965 when Presedent Johnson sent us there from Okinwa, Japan---Where was Viet Nam we wondered? HUH!! I came home in June of 1966, was married in Wichita Kansas, then off to Califorina again to finish my Marine career in December 1966. I saw a lot of the world--Calif, North Carolina, Troop ship, Spain, Canary Islands, Back to N. Carolina, Calif. Hawaii, Guam, Okinwa, Viet Nam, Okinawa, Wake Island, Hawaii, Calif, back home, Calif and Wichita, Kansas, home for good. I now live in Waco, Texas, a Texan since 1986. I have had quite an active life. It even amazes me the sites I've seen, people I have met, Airplanes I have helped design as well as my adventures as an actor on stage during my life.

Those of us who were old enough to remember this can recollect how we sat at home in rapped attention as we witnessed this horror unfold on every major news network turning the TV dial to get additional news coverage of this event that chan...ged the world as we knew it. Not only what was occuring in New York but in Washington D. C. at the Pentagon crash site but also the crash of the 4th passenger jet in an empty field. The last two events are too soon forgotten but not by me. So, let us remember this day 11 years ago and not forget our troops stationed overseas and even now in action protecting the countrys they are in but also our freedoms here at home. Least we forget.

I am a reniassance man. I love going to the REN FAIRES and dress mostly as a pirate calling myself Squinty. I had palsey several years ago with drooping on the left side of my face. My left eye didn't totally come back so I have a bit of a squint therefore my Pirate name. I love the arts, read books, enjoy traveling, music, sword play, acting and most other things popular with the age of the Renaissance. I am retired and have spent the last 4 years going to Baylor University in Waco Texas and a part of the BIG TWELVE conference where I am majoring in ART HISTORY. I took a major thesis class last term on art in the 1500's in Italy mainly in the art captial of the period in FLORENCE, Italy. My thesis artist was BRONZINO, It was really hard work as it was my first Thesis Class but I loved the artist. I am now a second semister Junior at Baylor but I had to take a sabitical this semister to care for my wife who had her 4th back surgery recently.
Music is such an important place in my life. Music sets a mood or feeling, love, adventure, excitement, the beat, the location, romance,. Can you imagine seeing a movie without background music. as all this started when motion pictures had no sound. Look at the movie theastors and the piano's or organs playing the William Tell ovature as the cowboy chases the crook. HI HO SILVER AWAY yells the Lone Ranger. The Phantom of the Opera sing of his love of the lady. A SUMMER PLACE setting the scene with Troy Donahu and Sandra Dee in teenage love. You get the picture. My father was into music and had an extensive library of 331/3rd records. I grew up wth Jazz and Classical Music my dad played and as an artist I played Classical music as I painted to set the mood of my work. I was born in 1942 the age of the big bands, Hollywood musical, and the very start of Rock and Roll long before Elvis I look back to BILL HALEY and his comets as the start of modern Rock and roll. I remember the old dances THE TWIST, Pony, Mash potato and the Purple People Eater. Then the beach movies as we charged into WOODSTOCK ( the event that changed the world of music as we knew it). The hippy movement with the poerty bars and DAVE BRUBEC and his jazz quartit. The block buster movies like Ben Hur with the march of the Charioteers Then HOW THE WEST WAS WON. It was the music that set the mood. Can you forget the music from the Helicopter scene in Apolcyplix Now? ("I love the smell of Napolm in the morning."---ROBERT DEVAL). So I love music of all kinds EXCEPT RAP!! (what music is there? more like beat poetry!) shakes head. ARRRGGGGGGGGgg
