There were these two cows, chatting over the fence between their fields. The first cow said, "I tell you, this mad-cow-disease is really pretty scary. They say it is spreading fast; I heard it hit some cows down on the Johnson Farm." The other cow replies, "I ain't worried, it don't affect us ducks." MOVIE REVIEWS (rental): DOCUMENTORY Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer (2003)

I had my dates mixed up when I was to go to the doctors. My appointment is today, not Tuesday. I have waited over 3 months for this appointment. Have you ever heard such a thing? I was diagnosed with low testosterone in late June but the first appointment with an Endocrinologist was a 3 1/2 months wait! When women go through menopause it's no big deal, and the primary will prescribe hormones. If you are a man you have a thousand tests, talk to ten doctors and they scan you and all sorts of weird crap. Hey..drop in hormone level..big deal..just give me the shots or pills or whatever so the hair on my legs grow back. (and kick start my libido again..it sucks looking at pretty women and paying more attention to the package she carries then to her!..lol..wish me luck!)
Some folks have not been able to see the flash image I created in my Blame Lizzie blog. To correct this, make sure you have the latest version of flash on your computer. If you have ever seen the message..SOME CONTENTS OF THIS PAGE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE.. means you need at least Adode Flash 10..It's worth it..If seeing me dressed as Elvira is the definition of "worth it"..lol

FUNNY TRUE STORIES
WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS: Police in Oakland, California spent two hours attempting to subdue a gunman who had barricaded himself inside his home. After firing ten tear gas canisters, officers discovered that the man was standing beside them in the police line, shouting, "Please come out and give yourself up."
MOVIE REVIEWS (rental): ACTION AND ADVENTURE Blobermouth(1990) R
The L.A. Connection's fun spoof of the 1958 horror flick The Blob substitutes the original audio with hilarious new dialogue. Bob Buchholz (Steve McQueen) is an amateur comic preparing for a big show, but the one telling the jokes is Blobermouth, the slow-moving pink alien ooze targeting Buchholz as its object of ridicule. Increasingly annoyed by the wisecracking goo, Buchholz does all he can to keep it from ruining his career.

I finally got my testosterone. I got to a clinic today to learn the proper way to inject them. The reason they are so difficult to get is because of the high risk of abuse. Athletes, body builders and sports figures use them illegally. It is called "juicing". I will have to take them for the rest of my life. The doctor said that in 3 months I should have a third of my strength back, and half of my libido. I was also prescribed something to minimize my mood swings until my body gets back to normal. This has been a difficult thing to share with family and friends, but I was really out of whack, and no way to hide it. If I go weird (like I'm not now!) for a while , hang in there with me. I take my first injection today. Wish me luck..it's not everyone who gets to go through puberty twice! lol
Ever walk into a room and have a cold chill run down your back? Or get an overwhelming feeling of fear and dread? Could these be warning from a long dorment "extra" sense we all have, but think it is silly to believe in such a thing? Have you met someone for the first time, and are convinced you know them, where they are from and maybe even what they do for a living? I have experienced things very similar to that. To be "open" and sensitive can be a scary ability. There is a belief that when something so violent and terrible happens in a certain place, that it leaves some kind of evil "imprint" on the area.
A true story.
When I was just 21, it was the fall of 1973. I was taking a break from playing in a band and was working at a dead end minimum wage job. When I got an offer to move to a small town towards Grays Harbor, and share rent with a friend, I jumped on it. Nice trees, lots of parks, I was stoked. I packed up as much as I could in my old 58 Chevy and headed for the coast. I was told that I couldn't miss their place, you could see it from the freeway, it had a huge purple peace sign spray painted on the side of the house. After about an hour of travel, sure enough there it was, right close to the off ramp. As I pulled up to the old two story house, (built around 1920 or so) I was impressed with the wonderful glass sun porch in the front. I knocked on the door and was greeted with hugs and smiles and we visited and had a wonderful time, just my friend and his wife. They told me I could have the entire second floor. There was a door in the living room that hid the stairs up to the three huge bedrooms overhead. I grabbed an arm load of stuff and climbed the stairs. As I got to the top of the stairs I was met by bleak hardwood flooring and completely empty rooms. Nothing, not even a scrap of paper. I chose the room overlooking the sun porch, I could see across the yard was a small pump house. I made many trips up and down. I was exhausted. After a pleasant dinner, I excused myself and wanted to get a good nights sleep, as I was going job hunting the next day. I went upstairs and it was cold! The only heat came from a vent next to the stairs. I walked over and kicked the vent open. I could see down through the vent (which was over the oil stove in the living room) a could clearly make out the front door leading to the sun porch. That night I shivered in my room for a while and gave up and spread my sleeping bag in the hall next to the vent. That was the only warm place upstairs. I slept fitfully and had a horrifying nightmare.
THE NIGHTMARE
I stumbled down the stairs to the smell of fresh coffee. I mounted a stool at the breakfast bar where my friends wife sat drinking coffee and playing solitaire.
"Morning" I said "Morning" she replied.
I poured myself a cup of coffee and lit a cigarette.
"Man, did I have a wicked dream last night." " Yeah?" She didn't seem real interested. She was into the cards. " I dreamed I was looking down through the vent upstairs and there was plywood nailed up over those inside windows of the sun porch." " There used to be. They fixed them after we moved in." she said and looked up at me. " This is where the dream gets weird. There was a terrible pounding on the plywood, and I heard what sounded like a loud gunshot." Her eyes opened a little wider and her breath caught in her throat. "What then?" she whispered. "The pounding got violent and and the left hand corner of the plywood broke free of the nails and a man in a kakai tee shirt and a shaved head came up and peeked over it." She gasped" Oh my God!" "Then there appeared a man who was cut in half and was hanging from the corner of the door by his ribcage, his intestines were draped down both sides of the door."
My friends wife was sobbing heavily by now with her face in her hands. What neither of them had told me, was the reason why no one wanted to live in that house as a room mate. The former tenents had been two brothers, one a former marine. They got into an arguement one night and the former marine fired on his brother with a shotgun on the sun porch, effectively blowing him in half and shattering the window. He then drug his brothers remains across the yard and hid it in the pumphouse. It was eventually discovered what he had done and he was sent to prison. The house went up for sale. Not surprising, no one wanted it. They tried to rent it, but until my friend and his wife came along, it had sat empty.
I packed my things and fled, not even saying goodbye. They knew why I left. It seems it had happened before.

NEWS ON THE HOMEFRONT (Therman's)
Took my first testosterone shot on Wednesday, the next morning I felt better than I had in years! I was surprised it worked so fast! Of course my body couldn't keep up with what my brain wanted to do, but I walked around so much my legs got sore. Yah-hoo! That means my muscles are responding! Thats something that has not happened in over six years! I had a feeling of euphoria, and it was hard not to "hit it" again instead of waiting two weeks! (just kidding! the gawd blame needle is the size of a ten penny nail!) The doctor also gave me something for the mood swings. I go back to the doctors in 10 days to get a blood test to check the levels and see if it is enough or if they need to increase the dose. I also read where the supplement DHEA can help. Need to ask the doctor though.
I am feeling mixed emotions right now. I have really not stated the reason for my quick downsizing last winter. I had been taking care of my youngest child (my son, he will be 24 this November) since he developed schizophrenia at age 17. My world fell apart. I spent much time getting him to doctors and trying lots of different medications to help him live a somewhat normal life. He is brilliant. He plays guitar, is a computer wizz, (reads and writes html code, and binary.) and articulates very well. 18 months ago he decided to stop taking his medication. He became delusional and violent. I will skip the gory details and cut to the chase. He destroyed our apartment. Trash and dishes everywhere, broken glass all over the floors. He tore apart his vintage guitars, stereo and television. He had know idea who I was and was convinced by the voices in his head that he wasn't part of our family.(ie, I was not his father, his sisters were strangers.) He would laugh hysterically and sing loudly at night songs that made no sense. I worked for 8 months with every agency you can imagine to have him commited and returned to taking his medication. I was told that unless he was a harm to himself or others that it wasn't legal to compel someone to take medicine . In the meantime, I was trapped by a lease together with him, and spent almost a year with a madman. There were several incidents where I had to call 911. He was tazed twice while fighting officers. I was scared to death and lived in my bedroom, locking my doors at night. Then last December he kicked me out. The police had been telling me to flee for 6 months. I didn't want to, I loved him and could remember what a wonderful young man he used to be. I left, the worst winter in decades. Stored what things I could, bought a motorhome and set up my meager household. Since last Feb. When he got evicted no one in the family had seen or heard from him. We were worried sick. He was so delusional there was no way he could care for himself. On Wed this week we found out he was in an adult home, court compelled to take shots and doing well! I got his phone # and called him. He didn't remember his desent into madness and thought he had been gone 3 months and not 18. The best case senerio I had hoped would happen occured. I don't know how or why he had to go to court, but the judge he saw commited him and he was put on meds and graduated to an adult home. Wisely, when he was first diagnosed, I set up his ssi and when they( the court) discovered he had direct deposit in a credit union, he had so much money in his account, he had to spend it or lose the ssi! I am relieved and a terrible burden has been lifted from my heart. At the same time, I am frightened I will lose him to madness again. We have planned a dinner this weekend, his sisters and I, and know that there will be many tears of happiness. Many prayers have been answered. Instead of thoughts that he is sleeping under bridges, going hungry or even worse, he is safe and warm and doing as well as he can. My fathers heart weeps now..for joy.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
First, cut out the top of pumpkin. Look at the stringy, web-like action going on in there. This is where I discover another place God is so COOL! Look at that beautiful creamy orange color. The center mass looks like an explosion and the seeds are just hangin' out on the sides. There are so many hidden places where God tucks His coolest artwork. As for the seeds, fill a large bowl with water and give the seeds a good swishin' around. The stringy stuff sinks to the bottom and the seeds float. Proceed to skim the seeds off the top with your hands and move them to a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow them to dry just a bit and they'll get sticky. Salt the heck out of them. Heat the oven to 350F degrees. "Bake, stir, bake, stir - golden, done. Eat."

USELESS FACT OF THE DAY:
During the California gold rush of 1849, miners sent their laundry to Honolulu for washing and pressing. Due to the extremely high costs in California during these boom years, it was deemed more feasible to send their shirts to Hawaii for servicing.
TODAYS RECEIPE:
Homecooked Black Eyed Peas - 2 pounds fresh shelled black eyed peas
- 1 tablespoon oil or bacon drippings
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- enough water to cover peas in the pot
Place all the ingredients in a large pot over medium high heat. Make sure you have enough water to cover the peas with 2 inches of water. After the water comes to a boil, cover with a lid, reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours. Set your timer for the first hour and check the water level on the peas. Add more water if necessary, you want at least 1 inch of water above the peas. Cover with lid, again, and set the timer for the last hour. Peas should be tender, but not mushy.

One afternoon, a man was riding in the back of his limousine when he noticed two men eating grass by the road side. He ordered his driver to stop and he got out to investigate. "Why are you eating grass?" he asked one man. "We don't have any money for food," the poor man replied. "Oh, come along with me then." the man from the limousine said excitedly. "But sir, I have a wife with two children!" "Bring them along! And you, come with us too!" he said to the other man. "But sir, I have a wife with six children!" the second man answered. "Bring them as well!" So, they all climbed into the car, which was no easy task, even for a vehicle as large as the limousine. One of the poor fellows expressed his gratitude, "Sir, you are too kind. Thank you for taking all of us with you." The rich man replied, "No, thank you... the grass at my place is about three feet tall and I could use the help!" MOVIE REVIEWS (rental): Drama A Beautiful Mind (2001)
John Forbes Nash Jr. (Russell Crowe) was a brilliant economist -- when his mind was clear. But life changed forever with the revelation that he was a schizophrenic. Nash's brilliance persisted amidst the anguish his mental illness caused for him and his wife (Jennifer Connolly), and 40 years after his diagnosis, he won the Nobel Prize for economics. Connolly's acting and Ron Howard's direction won Oscars, and the film was named Best Picture. JUST PLAIN WEIRD DEPT.:
