Obscene content.
Posted On 09/18/2009 09:08:20

I will never understand some peoples petty vanities.  I lost a lot of control files because someone( I suspect who, not here tho) turned me into Google Groups for having obcene material on my file page. My flash animations all stopped working. Grrrrr. They are trying to stop me from sending e cards and animations or using the carrier files for COFFEE BREAK!  I have no spam or obscene materials on there!  I made the mistake of naming the group "Therman's Planet".  They are familiar with that and only had to google to find it. I created it so I could build on here. I won't dignify any accusation from them.  I created another group, kept the name hidden, and will continue as I am.  Have you ever run into spiteful people like that?  Here's what I am having to put up with!:

•Thanks for mentioning the site's safety rules
Admin*****09/05/2009
It is against site rules to publish links inviting people to go off this site.
Any and all posts with such links may be removed.

•Are you saying
Therman09/04/2009
that if someone takes the time to create a blog or homepage, they are considered dangerous if they want to share it? That makes no sense. If it was sexually explicit, or had hate implication, or was a pitch to get money, then yes, don't go there. If it is a homepage for friends and family, what is wrong with that? To think that people aren't doing that as a way to share, begs credulity, It is almost 2010. We now have fully functioning desktop capabilities, with internet web browsing, phone service, and video playback, in a package the size of a deck of cards. I suppose you even have one. Please don't deny the good members here the opportunity to share what they are so proud of.

Anyway,
that's how I feel.

•To clarify the rules
Admin***.com09/05/2009
As the site has grown , a nice young man is occasionally helping approve and disapprove member pics; for that reason, we will return to a policy of accepting pics of our members but not cartoons, or floral arrangements, etc.

Any url's by d*****d.com members advertising a link to dating sites/ blogs will no longer be permitted.

•sorry i dont get this
michelle_h 09/05/2009
but whats with all the adverts on here ? they direct you off site dont they ? senior dating .com etc and a million others ..lol .. what is the difference in clicking on them to what therman is saying ? sorry to drag this out but i just dont get it

I hope they just let me spin here, blogging is supposed to be fun, not a bloodsport!

WORD OF THE DAY:
(and where they come from)

Ergophobia - Fear of Work.

No joke, a British medical doctor coined the term in 1905 to describe people who literally have a fear of work. I think we’ve all met people suffering from this terrible affliction.

USELESS FACT OF THE DAY:

Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) was born on and died on days when Halley’s Comet can be seen. During his life he predicted that he would die when it could be seen.

    * 1 (225 g) package kraft macaroni & cheese dinner mix
    * 3 cups frozen mixed vegetables
    * 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

 Bring milk and water just to boil in large saucepan on medium heat. Add macaroni; stir. Reduce heat to low; simmer 6 minutes or until macaroni is tender.
 Stir in vegetables; cover. Simmer 3 minutes or until liquid is almost absorbed and vegetables are heated through; stirring occasionally.
  Add cheese sauce mix and butter; stir until well blended.
  Fold the foil over and seal securely.
 Cook 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

MUSIC TRIVIA:

What California group waited 22 years to score their first chart-toping single since 1966?

JOKE OF THE DAY:

In this life I'm a woman.

In my next life, I'd like to come back as a bear. When you're a bear, you get to hibernate.
You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that. Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that, too.
When you're a girl bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially grown, cute cuddly cubs. I could definitely deal with that.
If you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them too. I could deal with that.
If you're a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling. He EXPECTS that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat.

Yup... gonna be a bear.

WORD OF THE DAY:
(and where they come from)

Jaculation - The Act of throwing or hurling. The word started in 1610 and was still being used when Dickens wrote, as he used “jaculation” in Bleak House. Of course, you know as well as I what you were thinking when you saw this word.

USELESS FACT OF THE DAY:

NASA scientists are still receiving data from Voyager even though the signal it is emitting has less energy than that emitted by a blowdrier.

TODAYS RECEIPE:

Johnny Jalapeno's Taco Cornbread Skillet

    * 1 lb ground beef
    * 1/2 onion, chopped (optional)
    * 1 (1 ounce) envelope taco seasoning mix (Old El Paso is Johnny's favorite)
    * 1 (14 ounce) can kidney beans, drained well (or pinto or black beans)
    * 1 cup kernel corn
    * 1 (8 ounce) box corn muffin mix
    * 1/3 cup 2% low-fat milk
    * 1 egg
    * 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
    * 2 tablespoons chopped jalapenos
    * 1 cup monterey jack cheese

Garnish

    * 1 cup shredded lettuce
    * 1/4 cup chopped tomato
    * 1 dollop sour cream
    * 1 dollop guacamole

Directions

 Lightly grease the inside of an 10" cast iron skillet with a little butter. Place in oven and turn temperature to 450°F.
Meanwhile, cook beef (and onion if using) in a medium sized skillet. When almost done (drain if necessary), add seasoning mix, stirring to coat. Add beans and corn and continue cooking for 1-2 minutes.
 In a medium bowl, mix corn muffin mix, milk, and egg until smooth. Add cheddar and jalapeno, mixing to combine. Carefully remove cast iron skillet from oven and spread dough into it, using the back of a wooden spoon (pan will be hot).
 Spread beef and bean mixture over dough, leaving a 1/2" border. Bake uncovered 15 minutes.
 Sprinkle with monterey jack cheese and bake an additional 2 minutes or until cheese is warm and melted. Top with garnishments, slice pie fashion and serve.

JOKE OF THE DAY:

A guy is driving down a deserted highway. He pulls up to an intersection, and rolls through the stop sign. From out of nowhere, a cop pulls him over.
COP: “Do you know why I pulled you over?”
GUY: “Hey, I slowed down didn’t I???”
COP: “You must come to a full stop at the sign.”
GUY: “Stop. Slow down. What’s the difference?”
The cop pulls out his baton and starts to beat the guy with-out mercy.
COP: “Well, do you want me to STOP or SLOW DOWN?”

ROMANCE

Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974)

Undeniably one of the must-sees of 1970s cinema, Martin Scorsese's film features Ellen Burstyn in the Oscar-winning role of a widow who must find the strength to go on in the face of loneliness and fear, all in the name of her young son, Tommy (Alfred Lutter). Eventually, they land in Tucson and she finds a job as a waitress at a diner, where somehow, she's able to picture love again through the eyes of a customer (Kris Kristofferson).

DAILY HOROSCOPES:

JOKE OF THE DAY:

The other day I went to the local religious book store, where I saw a HONK IF YOU LOVE JESUS bumper sticker. I bought it and put it on the back bumper of my car, and I'm really glad I did. What an uplifting experience followed!

I was stopped at the light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord, and didn't notice that the light had changed. That bumper sticker really worked! I found lots of people who love Jesus. Why, the guy behind me started to honk like crazy. He must REALLY love the Lord because pretty soon, he leaned out his window and yelled, "Jesus Christ!" as loud as he could. It was like a football game with him shouting, "GO JESUS CHRIST, GO!!!"

Everyone else started honking, too, so I leaned out my window and waved and smiled to all of those loving people. There must have been a guy from Florida back there because I could hear him yelling something about a sunny beach, and saw him waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my two kids what that meant. They kind of squirmed, looked at each other, giggled and told me that it was the Hawaiian good luck sign. So, I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back.

Several cars behind, a very nice man stepped out of his car and yelled something. I couldn't hear him very well, but it sounded like, "Mother trucker," or "Mother's from there." Maybe he was from Florida, too. He must really love the Lord. A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and were walking toward me. I bet they wanted to pray, but just then I noticed that the light had changed to yellow, and stepped on the gas. And a good thing I did, because I was the only driver to get across the intersection. I looked back at them standing there. I leaned way out the window, gave them a big smile and held up the Hawaiian good luck sign as I drove away.

The agent's idea of imprisoning the antihero to make the world miss him proves successful, but will Hancock stick to his new sense of purpose or slip back into old habits? Charlize Theron co-stars in Peter Berg's action-comedy

Bittersweet Vindication
Posted On 09/15/2009 06:16:19

I don't know sometimes. Have you ever felt bad about something and at the same time justified?  I have been on the net a way long time, before any gui browsers.  The only thing you could surf were universities, just using text in ms dos.  Anyway.  Just before I showed up back here, I was on another blog /date site. It has no graphics whatsoever. Just text. there are close to 10,000 members, and there were a lot of false profiles. Scammers galore. A few members were complaining that sometimes to see if the person is who they say they are is to chat live via webcam. I agreed. I wasn't trying to cause trouble.  I created a video chat room (free) for them to use, and posted a link.  The Admin got angry, (jealous?) and deleted my blog, siting that it was not alright to send any links away from THEIR SITE!  I didn't think that was very forward thinking. To make a long story short.  I stopped posting there.  I still read and answer my mail because of my many friends there.  I noticed in the forum today, the Admin admitted that it was a great idea, took credit for my suggestion, and provided their own link to an offsite video chat. *sigh* they are still text only bound and want to control your every move as it is a free site supported by advertisers. If I had paid, it would have been fine I'm sure. You can't win for giving anything away.  I am glad to spend my two cents worth right here, thank you.

Woo Hoo!

Somebody stop me!
Posted On 09/04/2009 02:03:56

I just figured out how to put a video chat room on my home page.  Works great.  Could some of you make a profile and log in to see if it works for other users?  Kind of pointless If I am the only one that can go in there. It's supposed to let a bunch of people in there to yack at the same time.  Send me a message as to if it works for you or not.  Also does anyone know how to disable the autoplay in the music widget?  I jump everytime it starts up!

Ok..I am stumped again.

I am trying to figure out how to post an animated gif.  I see the ones people have posted to my guest book, but Firefox won't let me. If I try to enter it as a link it fails also.  Help?
