WORD OF THE DAY: (and where they come from) Vomitorium - An access passage in a Roman theatre. Michael Quinion writes that a theatre chairman he knew of used to use this word among his theatre’s patrons, to their confused disgust. That makes me laugh, because I like someone with a sense of humor.
USELESS FACT OF THE DAY:

TODAYS RECEIPE:
Mini Italian Club Sandwiches Ingredients - 3 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons whipping cream
 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon (about) unsalted butter
- 10 slices bacon
- 2 (8-ounce) round loaves focaccia bread
(7-inch diameter) - 1 cup purchased pesto
- 8 ounces thinly sliced turkey
- 4 ounces thinly sliced provolone cheese
Directions Whisk the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl until well blended. Heat a 6-inch-diameter nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Brush the skillet with some butter. Pour 1/4 cup of the egg mixture into the pan, swirling to coat the bottom of the pan evenly. Cover and cook until the egg crepe is just set, about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Invert the skillet over a plate, and allow the egg crepe to drop onto the plate. Repeat to make 4 crepes total, brushing the skillet with melted butter as needed and stacking crepes on the plate. Cook the bacon in a heavy large frying pan until crisp. Transfer the bacon to paper towels to drain. Preheat a griddle or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cut the focaccia horizontally in half. Place the focaccia cut side down on the griddle and cook until the focaccia is heated through and golden brown on the bottom, about 2 minutes. Spread the pesto over the toasted sides of each halved focaccia. Cover the bottom halves of the focaccia with the egg crepes, turkey, provolone and bacon, dividing equally. Cover with the top halves of focaccia, pesto side down. Cut the sandwich into bite-size wedges. Arrange the sandwiches on a platter and serve.

A man walked into work on Monday with two black eyes. His boss asked what happened. The man said, "I was sitting behind a big woman at church. When we stood up to sing hymns, I noticed that her dress was caught in her crack, so I pulled it out. She turned around and punched me square in the eye." "Where did you get the other shiner?" the boss asked. "Well," the man said, "I figured she didn't want it out, so I pushed it back in." MOVIE REVIEWS (rental): fantasy Dark Crystal

Some of you remember my telling you about all the troubles I had at my previous homesite. Welll..You have a new person from there that was treated almost as shabby as I was. Her name is Sassy, and she is as sweet a southern belle as you will ever meet! The only reason I even left my account open was because I cared about her and missed her. She finally got fed up and sent me an email telling me she joined up here! WOO HOO! So please make her feel as welcome as you have me. She is a real stitch! Dumb Criminals: When Diana Martinez was robbed by three men on the north side of Columbus, OH late last Sunday night, she never expected to see any of the robbers again. That was one reason she was so surprised when two hours later, 20-year-old Stephfon Bennett (pictured) showed up at Martinez's home, also the scene of the crime. According to police, Martinez "recognized him (as one of the alleged robbers) right away and was able to get her cousin to call 911." So what was he doing there? According to both police and Martinez, Bennett returned to the home of the woman he allegedly robbed earlier that evening, and asked two things: if she had a boyfriend and if she would like to go out on a date with him. Someone needs to tell that guy that it's confidence that women are attracted to, not confidence men. While the story didn't mention how she responded to the allegedly larcenous lothario, it's safe to say that the one thing he didn't steal was her heart, since Bennett was arrested shortly afterwards for aggravated robbery, and held on $100,000 bail. The other two robbers remain at large, possibly because they are either slightly more intelligent than Stephfon Bennett, or slightly less attracted to Diana Martinez. God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God. "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction, and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look, Michael. Look what I've made." Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance." "Balance?" inquired Michael, still confused. God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over there I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things," God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice." The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land area and said, "What's that one?" "Ah," said God "That's Washington State, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, plains, and coulees. The people from Washington State are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats, and carriers of peace." Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then proclaimed, "What about balance, God? You said there would be balance." God smiled,
"There is another Washington...wait until you see the idiots I put there."

The other day I went to the local religious book store, where I saw a HONK IF YOU LOVE JESUS bumper sticker. I bought it and put it on the back bumper of my car, and I'm really glad I did. What an uplifting experience followed! I was stopped at the light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord, and didn't notice that the light had changed. That bumper sticker really worked! I found lots of people who love Jesus. Why, the guy behind me started to honk like crazy. He must REALLY love the Lord because pretty soon, he leaned out his window and yelled, "Jesus Christ!" as loud as he could. It was like a football game with him shouting, "GO JESUS CHRIST, GO!!!" Everyone else started honking, too, so I leaned out my window and waved and smiled to all of those loving people. There must have been a guy from Florida back there because I could hear him yelling something about a sunny beach, and saw him waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my two kids what that meant. They kind of squirmed, looked at each other, giggled and told me that it was the Hawaiian good luck sign. So, I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back. Several cars behind, a very nice man stepped out of his car and yelled something. I couldn't hear him very well, but it sounded like, "Mother trucker," or "Mother's from there." Maybe he was from Florida, too. He must really love the Lord. A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and were walking toward me. I bet they wanted to pray, but just then I noticed that the light had changed to yellow, and stepped on the gas. And a good thing I did, because I was the only driver to get across the intersection. I looked back at them standing there. I leaned way out the window, gave them a big smile and held up the Hawaiian good luck sign as I drove away. MOVIE REVIEWS (rental): ACTION HANCOCK (2008)
