Hello there. It has been hot and humid here. I have decided I can deal with the heat but not the humidity. The humidity just makes me miserable. We had a noisy thunderstorm at 10 last night. Thunder booming and rain and hail. We got a 1/2 inch of rain in the rain guage and a bug. I hope your day has been good. All I have left of my cold is the cough and my doctor said it could last for a month. I sure hope not. Well take care my friend and have a nice evening. Hugs
I hope the week has been great for you so far. It's been a busy week here with lots of humidity and heat. Oh my it's so hot! It stormed again last night but it looks like the storms and rain are over for awhile. Sounds like you had a wonderful time with your granddaughter and her boyfriend. Take care and enjoy the rest of the week. Hugs,Rhonda

Hi Beth! it's a funny story how mom got connected with roses... way back when I was a teenager, she got a bouquet of roses...they were a deep tangerine color, she just loved them, so when it came time to throw them out, she couldn't bare the though of not having roses, so she stuck a stem in dirt...took the bloom off and just talked to it every day. She had gone to the florist that they had come from to find out if it was even possible to regrow a bush from just a stem and was told by the owner, there was no way...well, mom wouldn't take no for an answer, and did that anyway...I don't know if she used anything around her "rose stick" as she called it, but watering occasionally, but she talked to it every day...it took root, and eventually it got big enough to be planted out near the front door... she continued to talk to it every day and it grew to a nice sized bush and produced the prettiest deep tangerine colored roses...she got the owner to come to our house, so he could see for himslelf, he didn't believe her when she called and told him...He was dumbstruck! LOL! That bush lived for many years, but eventually died out mom was gone from that house so she didn't get to try another "stick".
The roses I took to her grave this morning, weren't a deep tangerine color, more of a faded tangerine, but really pretty. I've never been able to find artifiial roses in just that right color...
also, back when she was in her late 70's I took her back to the Louisana town she was born and raised in, to put flowers on her parents graves, and her aunt and uncle graves, she chose yellow roses, so I bought yellow roses & greenery, and made pretty arrrangements for her to put on the graves.
When she passed away, we kids chose to put a small green spray on her casket with a yellow rose to represent each of her 4 kids... she didn't want a big spread, (she had a pre-planned burial) but we didn't want her to go without something ...so we figured less flowers just from us, she would be OK with..

Good Morning Deb, thank you! I sure love owls. It's so nice you can visit your mom's grave with roses. Were roses her favorite? Tomorrow my sister in law and I are going to the Blueberry farm to pick berries. Always enjoy the fresh berries this time of year. Happy Wednesday.
