JUST BRIEFLY
I stop here for just a moment, absorbing the wonders that I see, that I hear . . . .
the breeze whispering through the reeds, the sweet birdsongs, a glimpse of tranquility where I can once again find a bit of myself, this place where I can stop for a moment as I inhale the fragrance of peaceful that manages to soothe the frayed edges of emotions worn down by the day.
For from this place where I sit, I, for a brief time, witness the glistening transparencies that occasionally alight on the tips of the cattails to share their serene dance with my heart and soul.
From this place I join in the butterflies' magical waltz as they glide back and forth, sharing their magic with me.
And from this place, if only for a few moments, I delight in the intoxicating fragrance of lavendar as the honeybees relish its sweet nectar.
I have come here to this place seeking peace in my soul. And I find it here and share it when I can.

FOUND RIGHT WHERE I AM
Awakening every morning as the dawn streams through the window of my day, I'm left anticipating what lies ahead as I search for a bit of peace and joy, a measure of tranquility. And searching for the rainbows and the elusive pots of gold, I open the door and look around for what I've been searching for.
And I find it without too much trouble, without having to go too far, what I've been looking for. I find peace in the reflections I see within the tranquil pond as I view them from the edge.
I find rainbows in the gardens, vibrant splashes of colors all.
I find warmth within the sunshine of this blue-sky breezy day; and I find some happiness that I've been looking for as new life brings a smile to my face and my heart as I watch them just being who they are.
So my search will be continued tomorrow and beyond, for the peace that I've found today will be right here tomorrow or wherever I happen to be.

FOR JUST A LITTLE WHILE
Summer dreams remembered within the early-morning mist, imagination's wanderings as I linger here for just a while the ocean speaks to me in so many magical ways as I stop here for just a moment or two to listen to its voice, recalling the treasured times spent in this place we've been so many times before, where the sand meets the waves and the wind.
And as I gather them together, memories cherished all, I tuck them away for safekeeping until the next time we meet here where the waves and the winds converge within my heart and transport me once more to those dreams found where the summer mist meets the waves and the winds and the sand, and I hear their song again.

LOST WITHIN THE PAGES
I'm lost once again, and happily, I must say, within these pages of my favorite book where I'm more than a actor memorizing lines for the stage, but rather one of the characters within each well-worn page of the favorite books that line the shelves and take me to new places each and every day. I meet them over coffee as the day has just begun, and we tell each other secrets that we wouldn't tell anyone. confiding with each other our very deepest thoughts , sharing memories and treasured words as we laugh and cry a lot.
And when the hour grows so late, my eyes beginning to close, the moon streaming into my window at night and the stars beginning to twinkle and shine, I put the book down right next to my pillow,
And somewhere between awake and asleep, my reading put aside, I dream sweet dreams of places far and wide, where I've been through the words that have captured my thoughts and my dreams, taking me to places I might never have been had I not been reading these words yesterday until once again I meet my friends within the covers of my favorite book again as we welcome each other to this brand new day and continue the adventures that we shared within these pages just yesterday.

ENYA MAGIC
Reaching deep into my heart to the very depths of my soul, piano tones rich and full, ethereal voices elevating me, transporting me away to where I'd most like to be, to places transcendent within the soothing mist where for a time I can simply close my eyes and allow the melodies to flow, bathing my spirit, awash in the glow, as they soothe every space and enveloping all that is me. And as they draw me in and take my hand, poetic words, lyrical and free, touch feelings deep inside, drawing them out and setting them free, as lifted up through them, my spirit soars once again as I travel with them to magical places once more, to the sea, to the forest, to the mountains, and beyond where I can see, as Enya's Magic has lifted me.

SHARING FRIENDSHIP'S CUP
Sitting around the campfire so many years ago and listening to the stories told, flames leaping into the moonless night, the scary tales, we loved them so, as huddling together we were left gasping in fear.
And within the magic of the campfire, the flickering of the flames, the crackling, the hissing, the sparkling within the trance of night, we lingered there upon every word, scared completely half to death, but captivated as the stories unfolded and felt the forest ghosts, so certain we were that they lived there.
And as the stories came to an end and the flames extinguished into the night, to this day, I'm left recalling the words and bonds we forged while sitting around the campfire, as we listened to stories and shared friendship's cup long into the night.

REMEMBERING AT PUNCHBOWL National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific Toward the end of a day that was definitely all about me, doing what I pleased, when I wanted to do it, no one telling me what to do, and simply free to be me, I stood on the far side of today and on the edge of tomorrow and looking back upon the yesterdays in row upon row upon row upon row of tiny flags waving wildly in the paradise breezes of a late afternoon. In sobering silence I could only watch those flags and remember that those buried here were fathers and mothers and brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and grandparents and dear friends and loved ones. They were just like me. And I could have easily been one of them. And as I stood in the middle of a crater out in the Pacific, it occured to me how much power that sacred ground holds and how fitting that it be a resting place for those powerful men and women who gave their lives so that I could have the freedoms so often taken for granted, as I take them for granted no more. PASSING THEM FORWARD
Dancing with the wind, wispy clouds in the sky, they still make me laugh and they still make me cry, the melodies that carry me to places within, musical memories long ago but not forgotten, still soothing to my heart, the gentle waves that whispered the sweetest morning song when we were young, so long very ago, those dreams, those moments captured in the notes that I still recognize today in the music I hear still, glimpses of the old re-gifted with the new, the classics of woven within Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and even newer melodies of today, the old with the new finding a way to my heart once again, alive and vibrant still, whatever the form, the music of my heart, as taking on a life of their own, no longer vague and fleeting, our thoughts, our emotions, from so deep within but becoming musical memories as re-gifted once again as we forever pass them on from one generation to the next and beyond. And if you ask me, "What musical instrument doesn't tell the truth," the answer would not be me. For I do speak the truth in this musical way. Not a Lyre am I for I say it is so, musical memories happily made for tomorrow and cherished always and kept close to my heart, passing them forward and passing them on.

WITHIN THE POWER OF DARK INK
Every great once in a while, and only when the time is right, and my attitude toward what's real and what's not safely intact and unwavering, (reality and fantasy often so very blurred within fictional words, characters and events as they are), I'll venture very carefully and slowly across that line, finely drawn but so clear within my own mind, to that other side where the light seldom shines, where darkness lurks within the passageways of imagination's journey and around every corner, often so twisted and broken and so powerfully unkind.
And within those pages, those words and those scenes, on the edge of myself, one by one as I read, I'm reminded once again of the power of the pen, to elicit emotions, feelings buried so deep and far away; and remembering why most of the time I do choose not to venture into that world of the dark and bizarre, nightmarish tales best left alone by my imagination which doesn't need any help to be woken up at night with nightmares and dreams of darkness and pain.
And all of that having been said, Stephen King is certainly one of the masters of the dark and my words here a testimony to the eloquent power of his pen.
