THE SWEETEST SONG -- "A Simple Sunday" Featuring the Art of Marta
Posted On 06/05/2011 08:31:37

"Untitled" by Marta -- Today's Featured "Simple Sunday" Art

THE SWEETEST SONG

She sits upon the highest branch
up in the tallest tree,
the bluebird of my morning
so sweetly singing to me.
I hear her every morning
as she sings to greet the Dawn,
and I'm one of the lucky ones
to awaken to her lovely song.

And as this day begins to end
and folds into the night,
as I begin to close my eyes,
I hear her once again,
the sweetest song of evening,
sung from the tallest tree,
the sweetest song the bluebird sings
sung from the highest branch,
her melody so distinct and clear
within evening's muted light.

And the bluebird of my morning
who greets me at the Dawn,
sings the sweetest lullabies
within her evening song,
welcoming me to a world of dreams
as I visit them once again
as sweet as the lullabies she sings,
touching my heart once more
within the hushed twilight
her evening serenade.

20/20 THE SECOND TIME AROUND -- GBE2 #2/Group Blogging Experience - SUCCESS
Posted On 06/05/2011 04:21:55

20/20 THE SECOND TIME AROUND

Understanding it all
so much better now,
not perfectly yet,
but so much better
than I did before
about how things are,
or at least how
they ought to be,
every little thing,
each and every one;
things that I never
quite understood before
about the way things work
and how they should run.

Understanding it all
so much better now,
it all seems so very clear to me
as I look back upon them
from this point of view,
so much clearer as I see them
from the vantage point of now
and looking at them again
from my easy chair
the second time around.

Success is almost certain
from that view, I know,
as the clearest way to see
and the best way to know
how to do what we do
and how things should be
whether now
or tomorrow
or the day after that
and beyond.

And is there a lesson
I've learned from all this?
A road to success?
An easier way?
Though I can't guarantee success,
it has worked well for me,
and the lesson I've learned
along the way -- it is this:
If I don't understand it now,
just give me some time,
a day or two or three
or maybe even a year.
And I'll take another look
and review it again
and by that time
I'll surely figure it all out.

And by that I time I'll get it,
as hindsight will have kicked in,
and all things will be 20/20
and perfectly understood again.
For success and hindsight
are friends walking hand-in-hand,
And hindsight is always 20/20,
you can take it from me;
I've learned so much that way.

ABSORBED WITHIN -- "Drips of Ink/Saturday Music - Eric Clapton"

ABSORBED WITHIN

There's something
about these lyrical strains
captivating my heart
and touching my soul,
something that reaches
so very deep within
as I hear him sing,
this master of strings
and poet within.

And each sweet note
I hear him play
upon those magical strings
brings me that much closer
to where I want to be,
to the peace that
I'm always seeking
and finding glimpses
here and there,
bringing me within the sight
of Heaven's golden gate
as lost within each treasured note
I find more of who I am.

And as I listen,
things begin to fall into place,
so many things much clearer now
than what they used to be,
as closing my eyes to listen
and absorbed into
what flows from his guitar,
I'm carried away,
transported once more,
so much closer
to where I want to be
than I ever was before.

HOME AGAIN -- CPC COLLAB
Posted On 06/04/2011 04:50:39

The weekend is upon us
and for me that always means
it's time for a new
Cheryl's Pals' Collab . . . .

HOME AGAIN

by Barbara

A Cheryl's Pals' Collab

They say you can't go home again,
that nothing's ever the same,
as down this solitary walk
along the path that I have sown,
I consider where I am
and how it came to be so.
And along this path
I hear once more
sweet lullabies and songs
we used to sing
when we were so very young.
And as I stroll along,
I can't help but hear
the conversations we had
around the dining room table
at every dinner time,
the laughter and the fun;
the games of chess and checkers,
canasta and even bridge
that we always used to play
and I hardly ever did win.

And as I walk down
these shady lanes,
recalled so very well,
the streets are
almost quiet now,
where we used to play;
no children's voices do I hear,
but I remember how it used to be
when all you heard in the summer
from dawn to the setting sun
were children playing ball in the park,
swinging the bat and running bases
until it was almost too dark;
and in the winter ice-skating
and not minding at all
that it was nearly
10 below.

So today I walk
down this shady lane,
remembering how
it used to be,
and what a simpler
and sweeter time it was,
planting seeds in the garden
and picking sunshine dreams,
recalling the pitter-patter
of feet down the hall
of the house on the corner
where we lived one and all.

And though the streets
are mostly quiet now
where we used to play,
I do remember well
how it used to be.
And though nothing much more
than a memory remains,
I know now that you can
return to the place where you were,
if only briefly and for a short time,
for home is within my heart
and where I am supposed to be,
as checking back on yesterday
and the dreams that I had,
I found home once again
and how it used to be.
I found it once again
and know that it's so,
you can go back home
for I feel like I'm home
again wherever I go
with memories that always
make me smile again,
for this is where I belong,
a place where I can be.

TYPEWRITER REVERIES -- Drips of Ink "Blast From the Past"
Posted On 06/03/2011 05:42:00

TYPEWRITER REVERIES

Could I ever have imagined
such a long time ago
as I struggled through
the only high school class
that I despised so?

Could I ever have imagined
what that class would
come to mean,
as trying to memorize
the letters on the keys
that made absolutely
no sense to me?

Where the fingers should go
from one key to the next,
that annoying tap, tap, tap
as it rang in my head;
it all made the physics
and chemistry that I took,
the math that I dreaded
day after day;
typing class made
those classes seem
like a snap.

And such relief to discover
at exactly the same time
that wonderful invention
that must have been created
especially for me --
ERASABLE TYPING PAPER --
the teacher would never know
if I made a change here or there,
she never would guess.
Or so I thought,
until she did,
and sadly for me,
she was not very happy
nor was I . . . .

So I learned how to type
the old-fashioned way,
no more cheating for me,
erasable paper
forever
tossed
away.

And I must now admit,
that of all the classes I took,
that typing class in high school
that I despised so at the time,
has been the one that has been
the most useful to me.

And never could I have imagined
way back then and long ago
how many papers and manuscripts
these fingers of mine
would type on those typewriters
that eventually became my friends

and how I'd come
to love the sound
of that tap, tap, tap,
though a bit more muted
these days as typing
on this keyboard
is sweet music now to me.

RAINBOWED INFUSION (in words and photo) -- "Byways"
Posted On 06/03/2011 04:41:43

RAINBOWED INFUSION

Life's rainbowed infusion

flooding my soul,

gently opening

my imagination's door,

as looking out upon this day

I marvel once more

at the wondrous canvas

before me as I step forward

into the colors that I see,

the sun radiant as it rises,

the roses glistening with dew;

the birds and their sweet songs

gently awakening me

to this rainbowed wonder

that envelops my heart,

bringing life to my morning

and color to my soul.

SUMMERTIME DREAMING -- BFF #101 (Blogging For Fun)
Posted On 06/03/2011 03:59:47

SUMMERTIME DREAMING

Sandy shores
and summer s'mores,
blue skies and sunshine,
paradise and palms --
can't help dreaming
of summertime fun
with no particular schedule,
no places we have to be,
just doing what we please
within the warmth
of summertime glow.

Barbecues in the park
and catching fireflies after dark,
no big plans to make,
just one day at a time,
filling up those hot summer days
in all sorts of family fun ways.

And on this morning
summer daydreams abound,
my footsteps already
meeting the sea
as sweet ocean breezes
carry my thoughts
to places remote
and so far away,
tranquil waters
and trade winds
drawing me back once more

to summertime days
so tranquil and free
as soothing my heart
and wandering spirit already
in paradise dreaming,
summertime calling me.

PURPLE KALEIDOSCOPIC -- "Drips of Ink" Featuring Art of Bluerose
Posted On 06/03/2011 05:45:04

PURPLE KALEIDOSCOPIC

Purple majestic
explosions magical,
color splash symphony,
delicate flowers
surging and resurging
as soothing the ragged edges
of this day within the cool flame
of imagination's burst
their ebb and flow
cocoon this weary heart
that floats freely
within its pulsating power
as the day meets night
in this rhythmic flow
toward midnight's magic.

And for a time
within this wondrous window,
my energy is at one
with their glow,
rainbowed bursts
floating freely,
glistening,
glimmering,
as I rejoice once more
in their silent rhythms,
peace settling
within my heart
and upon this day,
the Keeper of Dreams
infusing color and magic,
gentle waves of sleep
embracing my heart
and cradling my soul.

CAPTIVATED WITHIN THE SOLITUDE -- A Sonnet Pantoumelle
Posted On 06/01/2011 03:19:10

CAPTIVATED WITHIN THE SOLITUDE

Stopping just long enough to see,
as here for such a very brief time,
Nature's soul as she beckons me.

Within the realm of darkness and night
Where solitude reigns, silence enveloping my soul
and dreams beginning to overtake my thoughts,
the day once more bidding farewell to us all.

A view nothing short of sublime
resting for just a little while
as here for such a very brief time;

Where solitude reigns, silence enveloping my soul
within this darkness the words find me,
the day once more bidding farewell to us all,
whispering my name before I can speak.

Just long enough to consider my way
and open to whatever Nature brings,
resting for just a little while.

Within this darkness the words find me
as I find my way by moonbeams' glow,
whispering my name before I can speak,
my imagination's flight to morning's first light.

Listening to songs that the sweet bird sings,
each precious note warming my heart
and open to whatever Nature brings.

As I find my way by moonbeams' glow,
and dreams beginning to overtake my thoughts,
my imagination's flight to morning's first light
within the realm of darkness and night.

Nothing comparing to Nature's power and art
caressing my soul and calming my fear
each precious note warming my heart.

Each song and view held so very dear,
stopping just long enough to see
caressing my soul and calming my fear;
Nature's soul as she beckons to me.
