Food for thought?
Posted On 12/06/2008 01:05:58

I always have food in my desk for when I need a snack. I usually keep nuts, figs, pretzels, and granola or trail mix around. I refuse to buy a 1 oz bag out of the vending machines for $1 when I can buy 12oz at the supermarket for the same price.

Yesterday I bought some Natural Food Snack, which is low in calories and sodium and very expensive. The bag was purchased at the junk store I went to, 4oz for $1. Any other store it would be $2.59 (at least). So I was on the phone, working and my friend comes into my office and without asking, starts eating this snack, and eating it and eating it. Without asking!

Then I get off the phone and she’s inquired what is that stuff, it’s good and then says I want some more!

I don’t mind sharing but she never brings in anything to share. She’s the type of person that once she knows you have food, will come over and ask you for it because she is hungry rather then bring food in herself.

She is also the type that will continue to eat it all till it’s gone. I think that’s rude! If you’re hungry, go buy some food rather then mooching from people all day.

What are you suppose to say when they come over and say can I have some pretzels? I want to say Go buy some and leave them at your desk but I can’t. There has got to be a nice way to say it.

Red Sox Nation!
Posted On 10/08/2008 12:49:05

My beloved Red Sox won last night! Yes, I was awake and was listening as Bay ran home! I was so happy (to get some sleep actually).

I almost got up just to see them being clowns in the locker room with the champain. Those boys come prepared and wear swimming googles to protect their eyes. It's pretty funny.

Well Tampa Bay - watch out - things are stirring up in Boston. Also, pack your long undies - it's getting nippy at night here and you'll free your butts off!

Red Heads get to me
Posted On 09/09/2008 01:13:11

Oh, that tall guy at work with the reddish color hair is just so cute! I still have not been introduced to him and have tried everything possible to get introduced but the opportunity just has not happened.

I bump into him constantly and I just get this shit eatting grin on my face, can hardly make eye contact with him and walk away fast, blushing like a 4th grader. For some reason I can't talk. No words can come out of my mouth. Well, no words worth mentions about.

I have been so busy, in the morning my girlfriend (who knows I like him) sees him going into the coffee room to get coffee and she was going there but first she walks past the coffee room to my desk (which is right next to the coffee room) to tell me go get coffee with her but I was on the phone so she just left me alone and went to get her coffee.

Probably a minute later, I get off the phone and have to go see someone and as I am walking by the coffee room I see her and him in there. He didn't see me but she did. I was in such a hurry to get what I had to get done I walked by her but then saw him and I actually walked backwards the two steps and had the shit eatting grin on my face and she did too.

His back was toward us and of course I give him the up and down look and check him out. She starts laughing and I make up something to say to her because now he turned around because he heard us. I can't even look at him and she is looking at me laughing and I just start talking to her. I was trying to pronounce someone last name to her and she was trying to say it (it's a Spanish name and she is Mexican and could pronounce it). She was trying to read my writing and the cute guy knew who I was talking about and walked betweeen us (to leave the coffee room) and said his last name for us as he walked away.

I said THANKS, still with the shit eatting grin on my face. My grilfriend was cracking up at this point. I can't help it  -  I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THIS.

Today I must of bumped into him about (3) times. He's so tall and cute!!!

Tom Brady news
Posted On 09/09/2008 01:11:55

So, do you think the New England Patriots can live without Tom? Was HE the team - or can the team actually function as a TEAM?

Living in Boston, and being a Patriots fan (only when they are winning), I think this team can actually play as a TEAM and no one player is the TEAM.

Just my opinion - but I don't follow football - only when in a pool for money!

Get together with old coworkers
Posted On 08/28/2008 02:49:05

Tonight after work I organized a rathering to meet with a fellow co-worked who was in town from out of state. It was good to see him and a nice small crowd showed up. We had some good laughs -mostly about other co-workers who didn't show up!

You figure these people who tell me they are coming would actually show up. Nope. Just tell me the truth then I don't have to worrry they are dead on the side of the road (not really).

So the retired secretary showed up. She was always a hoot! So nieve. So innocent and I suppose she grow up in a time when that was actually the acceptible thing. She's about 75 and looked GREAT!

I need to tell a story she told us once at work. It was so funny. Hillarious! As I said, she lead a sheltered life. Sweetest woman you would ever want to meet. She was also a party animal. She was always there if a party was planned.

Well, one night she went out with her husband. He must of had to go to the mens room so she was alone at the bar, enjoying the music. Some guy and his wife must of started to talk to her and so she chatted. Well, somehow the conversation with this couple took a turn for the worse. He asked her if she was into "swinging" and she answered, "OH yes, my husband and I love that".

Luckily, her husband shows up and she introduces him to this couple and tells her husband about the SWINGER'S CLUB this couple had invited her too. Her husband took his wife and left and then had to explain what they were talking about.

She told us this many years ago during lunch and I will never forget this story. It was the one of the more memorible ones we shared tonight.

My crazy sister is going to drive up to the summit of Mt Washington tomorrow. Let's see, she'll need new breaks after that! Plus, to get up and back:
Drive Yourself Rates:
Car and Driver: $20
(includes a bumper sticker and audio tour on CD or cassette in English, French or German)
Motorcycle and Operator: $12
Each additional adult: $7
Children ages 5-12: $5
Children ages 4 and under: Free
I guess they figure kids under 4 won't remember anything so they don't charge them.

I've been up there with the clog reailroad - way back when... and it was expensive and dirty!

2008 Rates

Adults (age 13-64) $59.00 Children (age 4-12) $39.00 Children age 3 & under Free on adult's lap - one child per adult Seniors (age 65+) $54.00

The round trip cog ride takes approximately three hours, including a 20 minute stop at the summit. Please check our operating schedule for departure times.

We recommend that you bring a camera and extra jacket or sweater. Remember, trains are fired by coal -- so dress accordingly.

I think I'll just wait for when I'm either under 3 again or over 64.

I guess I'm never going up to the top again. Well, that's OK, my winter jacket is away and I'd rather it stay put away!

Hummingbird
Posted On 08/19/2008 01:29:54

I went to NH this weekend.

On Sat evening I was outside, sitting on my porch talking to my best friend in CA and while yacking away to her a hummingbird came over to my car, looked at it's reflection and then came over to my fake flowers. I guess he/she thought they were real (good fake flowers huh?) and tried taking some nectar from them, then figured out they were fakes and came over to me for a second and looked at me then to some more fake flowers behind me and off he flew in the tree and rested.

It got to be awful getting fooled by fake flowers.

These creatures are so amazing. This guy was flapping his wings so fast he was standing still. I could see him so clearly. I always consider it a blessing from God when I get to see these creatures up close and personnal like this.

I never saw any prior to the camp in NH. I don't think they like the city but I could be wrong. There could be hummingbirds living in the city(?).

Have you ever seen a hummingbird fly around in front of your face and look at you? They always sound like a 747 coming at me. I always seem to duck when I hear them coming.

How do you tell someone....
Posted On 08/12/2008 03:40:46

On Tag World, I blogged about a friend of mine I eat lunch with. We are co-working friends, meaning, outside of work we don't hang out. This person I call SMELLY for the simple reason that she smells.

When you say people smell, it usually is BO (Body Oder) - oder emitting from their under arms. This is not under arm oder but more filthy smell. Hard to say because different days reeks different oders.

I have never brought this subject up to her but people have approached me on this subject and asked if I could tell her she smells. I thought about it but I just can't bring myself to do it. Not too long ago another work aquaintance did tell her she smelled. This was told to her because the state recieved a report that her kids and house were filthy and she could loose her kids. She was crying and seeking advise and this person told her she needs to clean up herself, her house and everything in between. She did it nicely, I am ruff around my translation here.

So today, after lunch she said she has a favor to ask of me. She told me that she was called to the front office by some woman she didn't know. She was some big shot because she sat where the CEO sits. Anyway, the woman works for HR and she stated she recieved reports that she stunk and asked her various questions:

DO YOU BATH EVERY DAY?

DO YOU WASH YOUR HAIR EVERY DAY?

DO YOU WASH YOUR CLOTHS?

DO YOU CHANGE YOUR UNDERGARMETNS?

DO YOU USE SOAP?

DO YOU USE DEODERANT?

She only told me some of the conversation but the bottom line was SMELLY asked me to please let her know when she smelled. Now how do you tell someone that they smell? I can picture this conversation, because it would happen EVERYDAY.

Monday: YOU SMELL                     Tuesday-Friday: Ditto from Monday

So I didn't know what to say except I asked, Do you shower everyday? Do you wash your hair every day? Do you launder your cloths? Do you you wash your sheets and pillow cases and towels? She couldn't understand why she would have to wash her sheets and towels if she is clean from taking a shower before bed. I told her she HAD TOO AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK! I told her she had to wash her PJ's.

I told her she should go to her doctor and ask her doctor if he can help. She told me her doctor has not mentioned she stunk. The question is, did she ask him if she did? I told her some people don't realise they have oder, that their bodies have reactions to things and they don't even know it. An example I told her of was an Indian friend, who was extremely clean every day (cloths iron so stiff you would think his shirts came from the dry cleaners every day, hair was combed and neat, whites where white, teeth shining, etc. This man STUNK! He ate some much curry and galic it reeked from his skin.

Another man had terrible mouth oder. Turned out he had gum disease and was in the middle of gum surgeries. His dentist helped him correct the problem.

Tonight I spoke with my sister, who said have SMELLY call her and she would tell her (over the phone) the various ways your body could produce smell and to get her ass to the doctors to correct it. Also, she will give her the hygene 101 course.

I have a few off-line blogs I wrote about SMELLY because there were days I couldn't take it. If you want to be totally grossed out read on for ONE example. If not, STOP HERE>>>> MY BLOG HAS ENDED. I just want to know what would you do? Tell her she smells?

One Monday, SMELLY wasn't looking so healthy and smelling pretty ripe. It was so bad, I literally walked in front of her rather then beside her to stay UP WIND from the oder. That was how bad it was that day.

Well, as we walked she told me she was sick all weekend and then went on to discribe her illness. She had the stomach bug, was throwing up and had diarrher. Well, I asked her to STOP telling me about this but she continued. She told me there was one point when she ran to the bathroom and had attacks of both problems and didn't make it in time and then she continued on to discribe the bathroom!

At this point I was ready to throw up and asked her once more to STOP. I really had dry heaves. She laughed when she saw me dry heaving and I asked once more to STOP.

That day, at lunch, I sat the farthest from her as possible, telling her there was something on the chair where I should of sat across from her (I was on the diagnol).

Pretty sad huh?
