Back on line
Posted On 07/09/2008 09:25:55

Oh - back on line here at the local internet computer about 8 miles from camp. Why am I here and not outside? Well, funny thing about vacations - you sleep late and linger around with no destination but exisiting.

Typical day so far since I've been gone, now just shy of one weeks time:
I am still on my work schedule though I am slowly trying to relax. I still wake up about about 5-5:30am but usually drift back to sleep and hold off of the bathroom run. About 7am I run off and releif my kidneys and then pick up a book and read quietly. The parents are sound asleep and have no issues with sleeping till after 10am. I usually read for about an hour and half then drift back to sleep for a quick cat nap or power nap. I usually wake again and read another few pages and then get up.
I quietly shut the parents door and make a pot of coffee - strong and favorful! I sit and read more while I toast a bagel for my usual breakfast. I look through the local free paper to see if anything is worth reading and usually there is some silly article this community seem to thing worthy of printing that I think is totally rediculous!
EXAMPLE: I swear they wrote on the front page of this free paper with a photo and all, about a 9 month old pit bull dog that likes to walk around with not a stick in his mouth but a log! That was the color photo and front page story of the day. I gues sthat is what I can exspect from a free paper. It passed time while I ate my bagel.
By now I've gone with (2) cups of coffee and my mother awake. She loves to talk and can hardly stop talking from the time she slips out of the bed till when she goes back down. She is very hyperactive and I oftern wish for this much energy!!
I just hung around, on the outside pouch reading and just hanging because today we had to make a dump run. I am a city girl and the dump is about 10 miles from here so we packed the car, recycled materials, clothing and a lampshade. All went to the dump. I recycled, my mother collected "stuff" from the reuse center.
The reuse center is pretty cool - people drop off clothing, bedding, furnature, books, dishware, ect. You can take what you want or donate. We do both. I got a beautiful bedframe, a Hitchcock, a very nice antique frame last summer. Hitchcock is a very good manufacturer of furnature and very expensive. I also have picked up some great books to read. Today, my mother took about a 200 ft string of xmas lights. I took a few puzzels and a few sweaters. A Polo and a 100% wool EMS sweater. ALl in nice shape.
I was half way to the closest city or town with a grocery store so I went another 10 miles to the store and we bought some food. Got home, changed into a bathingsuit and off to the local watering hole (I can walk to it) but no sooner I got there, said hello to folks I haven't seen in a year this freakish storm rolled in. It was like we were getting a mini hurrican and the clouds grew very dark and it started to pour. I ran home, changed and off to here to use the internet. I should end now and let some other folks use the computer. Sorry this is full of mistakes and not very well writen but I'm on vaction!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME Tomorrow!!

Home away from home
Posted On 07/08/2008 03:04:20

I am on vacation for a few weeks and I am deep in the NH woods. It is very nice and although the weather is warm here in the woods I sleep with a wool blanket and the windows closed. Yesterday it was in the high 80's but in my little neck of the world it is cold at night.
I took the old people and they seem to be enjoyiong themselves. Everyone sleeps late and we eat but two meals a day. It is an easy way to live if you did not have to worry about money. Just existing and living free is a wonderful thing. I can see why street people like to live like this. It's the freedom that you feel - with no worries. I wouldn't be so grey if that were the case!
Well, I must be getting off this community computer. People look like they are showing up for a meeting and I must be getting back to the camp and check on the folks.
Before I part I would like to share with everyone the fact that we have a pair of loons and they had a baby. Loons care for their baby together and I go and watch them as they swim around with the baby on the back of the mother or father. How they can dive down on one side of the lake and show up on the other side in a matter of less then a minute. They are lovely to watch and pass my time in the evening and how wonderful it is they are undisturbed by humans. I hear them talking to each other in the early morning hours. It is a peaceful sound!

GOING, GOING GONE!!!!!!!!!!
Posted On 07/02/2008 02:22:31

After 3 years, I think today was the anniversary, I will be cutting my hair off and donating it to Locks for Love. I should be giving a generous amount though I wish I could give them 3 ft but that's not happening.

I can't take this hair any longer otherwish I would try and grow another year's worth of hair. It takes way too long to comb this out every morning and it gets too many knots. So it's going.

The funny thing is the guys at work. They look at me and say NOTHING. I know they want to say WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR but they are smart enough to just keep their mouths shut. I'm sure they really want to say something else but this is a PG-13 blog so I usually try to keep it clean (notice the word try).

So I have to go into Boston to do the cutting. There is no parking where I have to go so I am forced to take the subway - on a hot day it's not pretty! I am so not looking forward to the subway ride. I have to go find my CHARLIE card (Named after the song Charlie on the MBTA) and I don't even know how much it costs to take the train in anymore!

The good news - the haircut is free! The place I am going too, DeKwa on Newbury Street. This is the only place I could find that donates their time to help the organization Lock of Love in the Bsoton area so I would like to promote their good deed.

For those of you not from around here, Newbury Street is where the rich people go (not me). I just looked on the website and the cost for a haircut is $50-95 and then blowdrying is $35 and up. It's been a long time since I've actually paid for a hair cut but this is crazy! Ladies, is a hair cut this much?

I'm so glad I'm not a girly girl who needs to get her hair cut every 6 weeks. Who can affort these prices? And hell, if I knew hairdressers could make this much cash an hour I would never have gone to college but cosmotology school.

When I walk in this place they are going to be looking at me like who let the trailer trash in? I don't dress when I go to Boston (my thoughts are if you look like you don't have two penny's to rub together no one will ever rob you) nor do I carry cash on me. I never wear jewlery. I just do my business and leave. I learned a long time ago how to stay clear of harms way.

I'm prepared and tried to warn the guys ahead of time my hair will be gone next time they see me. Sorry boys - it's going! I am happy about it - if one kid can happily wear a wig - my lose is NOTHING compared to what these kids have to go through.

Sick Co-Workers
Posted On 06/24/2008 02:03:58

What the hell is wrong with people? They have sick time yet them come to work and infect all of the well people because they refuse to take time off from work and use their sick time. Years ago, when you didn't have sick time, people would do that but those same people FOUGHT FOR YOU TO HAVE SICK TIME- use it damn it!

So Smelly (friend from work who smells), another gal and myself all dine together at lunch. I try to sit across and on the diagnal from Smelly for obvious reasons. Smelly is very nice however has hygene issues, which I will not get into.

I couldn't eat lunch with the gals so I wrote a quick email saying I wouldn't be there and off to my meeting I went. Later I saw Smelly on the Instant Message System and said hello and asked if she went to lunch with the other gal. She tells me NO she went to the doctors. For what?? I asked. She tells me for the cough she has. So I'm a dumb ass, I ask WHAT ABOUT YOUR COUGH? She says " Doctor says I have Strep, gave me meds" So I write back, "Does this mean your contagous prior to getting the antibi's in you system?" She says "Doctor didn't say that?"

OK, so I don't have children but she does and I know, from everyone who has kids they keep the kids home from school becuase strep spreads like crazy. Smelly has two kids! She knows about strep.

So I'm thinking, I'm not getting near her and that I don't want to eat lunch with her tomorrow because I don't want to get sick. Tonight when I left work I bumped into a co-worker of hers and she told me EVERYONE in Smelly's area she sits in are pissed off because she came back to work sick and all, coughing a lung out, not covering her mouth (gee, this is a surprise huh?) and talking on her phone telling people she has strep and on meds. They don't want to get sick and want her to stay home.

Me, I don't beat around the bush, I went and told her to stay away from me, I will not eat lunch with you and I told her she should stay home tomorow till the meds are in her for 24 hours. She tells me "I have the start of strep, I don't have strep".

So let me get this correct, so your doctor thinks you might have strep so they gave you meds just incase? That doesn't happen these days. Anti-Bi's aren't working on people because they are ammuin to them so they don't just give you meds "in-case" you got strep or the "start of". A better example to understand is, would you have sex with someone who tells you they MIGHT have aids? I don't think you would have sex with someone who MIGHT have aids. No one says they MIGHT have a disease, why would they?

So, as you can tell I am very angry about this. Use your friggin sick time - you have it! And further more, if you are that sick and need to go to the doctors because your not feeling well, for 2 weeks you've been coughing in the office, why the hell would you go away camping on a cold wet weekend, where you have to sleep in tents and on the ground? Why would you make yourself sicker by doing this?

Now the rest of us are going to be sick because of your disregaurd for the workplace! I am mad and I think I am getting a scratchy throat! I swear I am imagining this now - right? ***Cough***Cough?

Doctor Bill
Posted On 06/19/2008 03:06:52

I got a bill in the mail from my doctor and I am not going to pay it. WHY? Well, let me tell you why and then you can tell me if you agree with me or not.

In April I went to the doctors because I noticed on my my toe nails looked funny. To me, it looked like that cartoon-like commercial I've seen on TV about toe mail fungis. Oh course, Doctor GoodieTwoShoes went on the WORLD WIDE WEB and looked up all the possibilities and figured out pretty much, indeed I do have Toe Nail Fungis. reading everything I could identify as the diagnosis, I need a PhD after my name to actually get the meds for the healing so I made an appointment with the doctor.

My insurance changed and I thought I had to pay a co-pay but the card said NO CHARGE so I just went in and saw the doctor. The doctor looked and sure enough thinks it's toe nail fungis too bt because of the cost of the medicain (look it up, it's expensive) they are now required to take a sample, send it to the lab and grow a culture of some sort to have it on record it's a POSITIVE.

The doc said it wpuld take a few weeks and would get back me to. Three weeks past, 6 weeks past, now we are over 2 months. Today makes 3 phone calls I placed asking the results. the last time I called they told me the resuts have been there since the first time I called asking for them. The DOCOTOR is the only one that can give me the results, even though the friggin office admin can view them.

Guess what came in the mail within two weeks of my office visit? You guessed it - a bill for the office visit. I am NOT going to pay this bill till I get my results. Are the doctor(s) that busy they can't even make a call to a patient?

Today, I even asked the doctor to leave a VOICE MAIL MESSAGE on my answering machine with the results. It's 11pm and I just checked my messages and there is no message from the doctor.

I hope I answer the phone when they do call with the results. I am so mad about this. I think I am mad because the nail is actually falling off and sort of hurting. It's lifting off the nail bed and catches on the sheets and socks. Hard to discribe but it a bit painful.

I also hope the office calls for payment so I can tell them NO WAY till I get my results. Is this all worth $25 aggrivation?

Dust in the wind...

The interent is a powerful tool. You can find out so much stuff it's just rediculous.

I think I mentioned here, not so long ago, that a friend of mine died of cancer and I was going to her wake. At that time I stated another "friend" told me they had cancer. This friend was my interent friend. My pal. Someone I met along the way about 3 or 4 years back, by accident and just got to know him.

Well, from the last correspondence I had with him he said they had given him a short time frame to live. I just did a search on line and found out he passed away nearly a month ago.

I guess I knew this and wanted to beleive it wasn't so. I just liked getting his opinion on so many things I did not know the answers too and he just knew the right things to say to me. He was a very wise man and a compationate man.

He was a writer, a poet, a professor, a husband, a father, a brother and an artist. There are so many more discriptive words I could use right now but I know his love was for poety and painting and often sent me his poems to read.

I never met the man, and he so wanted to met me face to face and I always hesitated but I knew he had a PhD, what he did for a living, his name, etc I was just always afraid he was a kook! You never know, but I guess I liked the way it was, on line and the mystery of the unknown person. Maybe it was easier to tell him things never to have met him and place pre-judgments of things he might see from meeting me or vise-versa. I don't know.

I am very sad right now - because he left without any final word to me. I'm sure he was very weak and I am even greatful he got to a computer and told me what he did before his life ended. I tried to make him feel good when I wrote to him and give him positives in his final days on earth.

I just hope his life ended painless and in the company of his son and his wife and he's in heaven with his mother, whom he wrote of so often to me. Rest in Peace my friend!

Memorial Day 2008
Posted On 05/26/2008 03:53:34

Hello folks- it's about 20 mintes before the official Memorial Day begins. Yes- a day off from work, a day to spend at a BBQ, a day to just do nothing. I plan to sleep late although I just noticed the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston is free and there is no Red Sox game going on so traffic shouldn't be a reason not to go there if you are really into art.
I can do any number of things tomorrow but the one thing I ALWAYS do is go by the graves and visit with the departed family and friends I have known over my life at some point. I brought some Palms that I made into crosses and flowers to my father and grandmothers/grandfathers and stopped and thought about others I can't physically visit their graves.
Why do I do this? Respect for one. Love. Memories. Thoughts. When I was a kid that would be one thing we all did. We packed the car and went for that long ride through Boston to the cemetaries.
Sad thing is, the cemetaries I visited weren't that busy or colorful. People today couldn't waste their time to visit or their money to spend the gas to get there or leave any flowers. It's a sad world we live in.
My mother, the family elder is almost to the point of not wanting to go any more either. When I bring up the fact that my siblings aren't going or respecting their father she tells me that no one will visit my grave either.
It's OK - but while I am around I will visit the graves of ALL I LOVE and REMEMBER them. Then I'll go enjoy the rest of my day.

PEACE people and try and RESPECT the departed

Mother's Day Founder
Posted On 05/11/2008 05:08:33

Anna Jarvis was born in the tiny town of Webster in Taylor County, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis. The family moved to nearby Grafton, West Virginia in her childhood.

On May 12, 1907, two years after her mother's death, she held a memorial to her mother and thereafter embarked upon a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday. She succeeded in making this nationally recognized in 1914. The International Mother's Day Shrine was established in Grafton to commemorate her accomplishment.

By the 1920s, Anna Jarvis had become soured on the commercialization of the holiday. She incorporated herself as the Mother’s Day International Association, claimed copyright on the second Sunday of May, and was once arrested for disturbing the peace. She and her sister Ellsinore spent their family inheritance campaigning against the holiday. Both died in poverty. Jarvis, says her New York Times obituary, became embittered because too many people sent their mothers a printed greeting card. As she said, "A printed card means nothing except that you are too lazy to write to the woman who has done more for you than anyone in the world. And candy! You take a box to Mother—and then eat most of it yourself. A pretty sentiment!"
