Can you Say OUCH?
Posted On 04/26/2008 04:48:57

January I had a tooth filled. It had been a long time since I had a cavity so I’m not complaining but I really am not a fan of the dentist. I dread going. It’s just bad memories from when I was a kid. The dentist I have now is very nice and never causes pain but I get the white-knuckle thing going on and it’s never going to change. I just sit and grab onto the sides of the chair like I’m going to be killed any second.

So when I was told I had a cavity I said I knew, that the top left area was a bit sensitive and he said why didn’t you come and see me? Now that was a silly question on his part because I talked myself into believing my gums were being sensitive and that is all it was.

I scheduled the appointment right away and the following week I was there getting it filled at 8am on a Friday. The dentist comes in and we were small talking and he gave me the Novocain on my top left side of my mouth. Two needles are required on the top all the time (I never remembered that rule?).

So he’s reviewing the x-rays as my mouth is going senseless and I hear OH SHIT (those weren’t his exact words) and he was apologizing to me, telling me I have the cavity on the top right side. I reiterated our conversation a week back when I stated my sensitive side was the left with him and he said, “No, your cavity was on the right side”. I asked if he had his coffee and if he was sure and he was still looking at the x-rays assuring me it’s the right. But I have no pain, no detected pain on that side and in all actuality I did not have any pain on my left side either (must of really been sensitive gums when I felt pain that one time).

So I got the right side Novocained up and was completely numb during the hours (seemed like hours to me) of drilling. I felt nothing and that was fine and he apologized about 5 more times before I left.
I was happy the traumatic experience was over and I was free for another 6 months. I was sensitive for the next day because I just had the work done on that area. Then I talked myself in believing it was sensitive for a week, then another week. Then I determined I needed the fancy expensive toothpaste SENSODINE to help my sensitive gum and when that didn’t work I tried Listerine to kill all the germs that were causing this sensitive pain.

Three months past and I finally bellied up at the bar and came to the conclusion it was a toothache. It’s been rather clear lately since every time I put anything in my mouth I get this shooting pain instantly in that area. I made the appointment with my dentist figuring he didn’t fill the entire cavity. The long dreaded appointment was today.

The good news was he didn’t have to drill. The bad news was he is sending me to the endodontist. Lucky me. I never had a root canal and now I get to experience what most of the adult world has experienced.

I called my insurance to verify coverage and if who my dentist recommended was on the approved providers list. This will most likely evolve into yet another blog as to what I found out.

In short, I have not made an appointment to do the deed. I’m still in some sort of denial as I try and drink OJ that is causing shooting pain on the right side of my mouth. I should put some vodka in which will help me forget about the pain.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT
Posted On 04/26/2008 04:47:24

I knew what would happen and I did it anyway. Yup, this is what I have complained about in the past and I just do it again.

I’m a female and have the same traits as all females although I don’t think as bad on some things. The thing that ALWAYS happens with females is when we try and get together. It is impossible to do without a million emails or comments. This blog is about that.

Since my friend’s attempt to commit suicide I thought it would be a good idea to get the girls together so we can all complain about our lives and show her she is no different then any of us. That life is life and it sucks sometimes but we all have something that happens and it’s not worth ending your life.

So I boldly attempt the first email asking about getting together, throwing a date out there, along with a variety of restaurants ranging in prices and locations and getting responses back from them stating Monday- Thursday isn’t good for a variety of reasons, kids and husbands being the most.

OK – that’s fine as we sort of decided on a place and restaurant. 20 emails and we got that buttoned down. Now I send out another email with a new date, with directions for everyone on how to get there and a time to meet. I asked everyone to RSVP and REPLY ALL so everyone can see the comments and figure out this isn’t going to work.

I so far got about 5 phone calls and 4 emails about the date. I might make one last attempt to get the girls together but then I give up. I’m going to commit suicide after that.

Why is it when I get together with guys it goes like this:

WANT TO GET TOGETHER? Sure

OK, MONDAY AT 5pm AT MCDONALDS: See you there

That is the end of emails and everyone shows up. With the girls, it’s just one email after another and this just proves my theory. Why is it so difficult?

Shine that Light Rolling Stones review

Stones Review

Monday, day one of my busy week, just about over. I almost didn’t get out of work on time. I was on the phone with someone from out of state working when I looked at the bottom right hand corner of the computer. The time displayed was 3:59. I was supposed to have already closed down my computer and been in my car at that time.

The guy I was talking to is really nice and laid back so I told him I had to go – I was going to see the Stones. He was all excited for me that I was going to see them, thinking they were live somewhere here but then I told him the IMAX film and say SEE YEAH and got off the phone quickly.

I put my stuff away and walked quickly to my car. I prayed there was no traffic and luck was on my side. I got there exactly the time I was told and the “crew” was waiting for me. I barely had time to hit the ladies room before we walked in the theater.

I love the stones and truth be told I LOVE Mick’s hug lips. LOVE THEM – I have thing for big lips I guess. Seeing these monstrosity of lips on the screen in front of me was just a hug turn on for me. Mick does it to to--à However, at the age of 64 (his current age) it’s not doing it to me so much any more (LOL) and add to this fact that the wrinkles that you could see close up was enough to scare the shit of anyone!

I thought Shine the Light was OK. I thought the filming was too out of focus most of the time, the cameras were all over the place and I was getting a little dizzy with the whole thing. I like the music and the sound system was good. There were quite a few funny remarks throughout the whole filming and several guest appearances.

The worse part of the whole movie was the film malfunctioned and some how the words and movie were out of synch and it was terrible to see lips moving and 30 seconds later hear the words. It was extremely annoying. This seemed to last forever but I think it was a good 10 minutes and somehow they got it back in synch and life was good again.

My usual statement is I’m glad I went to this. The IMAX folks gave us free tickets to either come and see this over again or go see another show because of the malfunction that occurred. This is a good business decision and I was so happy they did this because it was annoying.

After the movie we went to dinner together and met up with a couple of friends who couldn’t get to the show. I think we had about 12 people. Excellent dinner conversation and good food.

It was yet another friend’s birthday. This man turned 60 (acts like 50) and I couldn’t see this going un-noticed. The person who did know of his birthday didn’t tell any of us and she should of got a little party going for this man. He has been so good to her over the last few years but she is very self centered and didn’t even think about giving him a card!

Anyway, I thought long and hard as what I can do for this guy. I know he wanted a Hummer too but this was already done. It wouldn’t have been right to give him the same gift.

Instead, he got a cute GET SMART card (do you remember the TV show Get Smart and agent 99?) So the card basically said AT YOUR AGE YOU NEED TO CHECK AND MAKE SURE YOU PISTOL IS IN WORKING ORDER. It made him laugh but he especially liked the little gift I gave him and the note in his card. It said in the effect:

YOU ARE NOW AT THAT AGE WHERE YOU WANT TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR FOR…YOU KNOW…SO I SAVED YOU THE EMBARASSMENT OF GOING TO THE PHARACY AND PICKED IT UP FOR YOU

Inside the bag was, not what you are thinking, but a Colon Exam Kit for people over 60. He, of course thought it was Viagra. We all had a good laugh and they assured me pay back is coming.

I am not too worried because of two reasons: The first being they are men and men forgot birthdays. The second being my birthday is in the summer and I’m never around. I’m on vacation and no one ever remembers my birthday. It’s just the way it is and I’ve gotten use to this after 44, opps I mean 29 years.

Battle of Lexington/Concord
Posted On 04/22/2008 02:34:58

THE RED COATS ARE COMING THE READ COATS ARE COMING

Growing up here and having a father who loved history there was always lectures about Paul Revere’s ride and the Battle at Lexington and Concord. My father would repeat the story and tell us over and over, every year, DON’T FIRE UNTIL YOU SEE THE WHITES OF THEIR EYES. I seem to remember getting up early and driving to Concord to the battle field early so we could see the re-enactment.

As I got older, this was a favorite holiday. Here we always had the day off from school. Paul Revere would ride through on his house and there would be a parade to attend. I loved this every year. Seeing Paul Revere ride at the end of the Parade yelling THE BRITISH ARE COMING felt like I was part of history.

Last fall I took a ride to the Concord Lexington area and did some of the trail and visited some of the sites. I think of the blood that was shed on this land were I was standing and why we are free. I wonder if I walk along the trail, by some miracle I find a musket bullet of some artifact from that time that resurfaces. It’s possible – very possible this could happen.

Another thing I loved to do is watch the Boston Marathon. Yes, 26 miles of people who, for fun, ran the 26 miles before this became a moneymaking event.

The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon sporting event hosted by the city of Boston, Massachusetts, on Patriots' Day, the third Monday of April. Begun in 1897 and inspired by the success of the first modern-day marathon competition in the 1896 Summer Olympics, the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's most prestigious road racing events. The marathon is one of five members of the World Marathon Majors.

Today, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) manages this event. Amateur and professional runners from all over the world compete in the Boston Marathon each year, braving the hilly New England terrain and unpredictable, sometimes brutal weather to take part in the race.

The event attracts an average of about 20,000 registered participants each year. In the 100th running of the Boston Marathon in 1996, the number of participants reached 38,000. While there are cash prizes awarded to the winners of the marathon, most of the runners take part in the historical marathon just for the joy of participating in such a prestigious race.

OK- the history lesson is over.

THANK YOU CARDS
Posted On 04/22/2008 02:27:42

Many THANKS to everyone who was nice enough to send my Mentally Challenged neighbor a Get Well card. She left several messages on my answering machine while I was at work today saying THANK YOU for the card; her operation went well and I LOVE YOU.

I remember hearing when I was a kid she is equivalent to an 8 year old so even though she has no clue who you are that sent her cards, she was THRILLED to get Get Well cards and people loved her and were thinking of her.

THANKS AGAIN – all good deeds have meaning.

SUICIDE
Posted On 04/20/2008 11:51:59

This economy is making folks do crazy things. It’s the weekend and I’m playing catch up with my friends. I talked to a friend who had news that just kept getting worse and worse. I was sick about this news. Everything she said was bad but the worse was her sister was thinking of ending her life so her husband could collect the insurance money and pay off the bills they have. How sad is that? Their car got repossessed and they are behind in bills so this friend decided to end her life.

Luckily she called 911 before she swallowed the pills and the police got to her before she did this crazy deed. She spent 5 days in a lock down facility in Boston and now is under doctors care.

She has (3) children, a husband and a large extended family that are very involved with each other yet this happened. It’s a scary world we live in today.

I think when stuff like this happens we need to be in contact with family and friends and so I set up a dinner with friends and invited her. She doesn’t want anyone to know so I just said we all need to get together since it’s been too long that we haven’t.

Please pray for this friend that she can see her way through the difficult time in life.

Get Well Cards NEEDED
Posted On 04/16/2008 02:29:22

Today I am asking for a request. A 41-cent request. It’s for a woman who is mentally challenged. She is in her 50’s and has lost her parents who cared for her her whole life. Recently she lost her brother. She is alone and in a group home. She use to be a neighbor of mine when I was growing up and moved to FL years ago. Her gift from God was she remembers phone numbers and she called me yesterday telling me she was going into the hospital for knee surgery and would I send her a card, flowers, anything. This message was on my answering machine so I didn’t get all the details but I’m asking if you would also send a card. It really doesn’t matter that she doesn’t know you; just that she gets a card from people. I know she’d be tickled pink. Thank you for your kindness ahead of time if you find it in your heart to send a card.

I'm a WINNER update
Posted On 04/12/2008 01:47:46

As reported last night I had some scatch tickets to scratch today here are the results:
SCRATCH TICKETS
$20 Red Sox World Series won me $20
$10 Red Sox vs Yankee won me $50
$5 Red Sox game won me $0
$2 ticket won me $0
$2 ticket won me $4
Looks like I'm ahead here in my winnings - proving my luck was going strong.

I purchesed MegaBucks, Mass Cash, etc and so far I haven't won (Juts one was drawn so far).
It was fun while it lasted - if I win anything in the next few days I'll post it as I otherwise assume it was a free ticket or nothing.

BILLS
Posted On 04/11/2008 04:57:52

Today is my day off and what did I do? Well, first I slept late. It felt good to sleep a few extra hours then what I usually sleep. After a few cups of Joe in my system and a good breakfast I was on the phone. The first call was to my annuity company. Apparently, according to them they could not locate my bank account to make a payment to my account. There was no problem last month or the last 12 years but all of a sudden they couldn't locate my account. So I called the bank and verified there was sufficiant funds and the routing and account numbers - all in order on the banks end. Then I placed the call to customer service. Customer service had to get their accounts department involved and from there it just got worse. They didn't have any answers for me as to WHY this happened after 12 years all of a sudden they couldn't locate the account. If I elected to reduce payments they required me to do this in writing and since I did not want to take the time to do this and I have a annuity account I could just STOP making payments and after making my declaration this was my decision due to the fact they could not tell me why this all happened and the letter I recieved about this was upsetting.
Suddenly their tune changed and they were able to do do things without written approval over the phone. Amazing if you tell they you're going to STOP making payments what they do for you.
Next I call the oil company. They placed a payment on my VISA and I want payments to go on my MASTER CARD was one issue and the other was since I am paying this bill within 10 days I get a 10 cent discount. The original account was set up for a 10 cent discount because my mother is a senior and she gets that. So in total a 20 cent discount should be applied to the account and I only saw a 10 cents. Now this was all set up last month and my Master Card was charged last month. Apparently, the person who did all this last month never changed the VISA to MC change nor did they apply the additional 10 cents to the account. So I had to go through all this AGAIN and call the VISA company to verify they took off the $800 today.
Then I called FL to tell my mother that her newspaper bill keeps coming here when they should be sending the bill to the FL address. She said she cahnged it but it still continues to come here.
Finally I have to call the insurance company for once again, my mother's car and get the low milage discount for her. It's a $80 discount if not evern more so I'm doing that today.
It's not even 1pm and I'm stressed out with all this. I should of just went to work but all this would still be here.
