Memorial Day Weekend 2010*5*30
WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME!
Hey everybody… come on in and set a spell. A/C is on… there’s hot stuff (me) and there’s cold stuff (again me) lolol Meems is being bad!
I must tell you all that this has been a special couple of weeks. I’ve had my heart broken but I have also had some heart mending moments. Oh yeah.
When I was growing up, I learned not to cry. Tears, sobbing and crying changed nothing for me at the time. My children NEVER saw me cry. Not even at the worst of times. I felt that I was protecting them from the sadnesses of the world.
Right or wrong, that’s the way I handled it. What I failed to realize at the time? That I was human and so were they. We are allowed to be human. We are allowed to make mistakes… We are allowed to mourn the ‘what might have beens’ or the ‘I should or should not have dones’.
Being human means that we share our mistakes with others. Not verbally but in actuality and literally. We have all made errors…
I finally allowed myself to be human quite a few years ago. I’ve learned to cry. It’s ok to cry. It’s also ok to have a self pity party once in a great while. And it is also OK to forgive yourself. Ya hear me? It is NOT OK to stay in the self pity mode.
Crying…. I watched a program on the history channel… about the P51 Mustangs. I cried thru the whole thing. Second World War…
I’ve heard the confusion, horror and hurt in the many voices of Viet Nam Vets and cried a lot. I’m very familiar with PTSD, flashbacks and reliving a bad situation.
I’ve heard the guilt in those who did not go ‘in country or down range’.. they who served that stood in wait… and cried a lot.
Did those who shared know that I cried? Very seldom. I try to be up beat… to share and mildly exaggerate the funny stuff that happens. However, there are some who know… my friends, buddies and pals. The ones who give me a hard time. Tease… torment…and then out of nowhere will say something nice or kind. The ones I tease, torment and never get around to saying anything nice or kind. Nice/kind are words not found in my own personal dictionary. Fair warning.
Or I go out doors and get flashed by my flyguys and gals. Lolol I watch and listen. And I get tickled and I laff out loud. I keep waiting for the Marines to come over the mountains or the Navy (shallow draft) to sail up the creek. Have pondered about the subs but I’m sure the guys and gals will figure out something… Flotation collars? I’m sure the Coast Guard will be able to make it thru the locks. But then again.. It’s pretty rough territory here in the mountains… love you all of mine! Gotcha!
Let’s see here… Did I tell you I ordered a special deal on perennials? Oh yeah…Have a $100 worth of plants coming. I got them on sale for $20 plus postage. I am a glutton for punishment! This means I must roll out before sun up, before breakfast, and before the 6 pack is ready to hit the floor. Ah, the sacrifices I make…LOLOL
or view link
I am surrounded by blooming Honeysuckle and it smells soooooo goood!
And somehow, I’ve managed to lose track of the kittens. I saw one this afternoon late.. One of the homely muddy gray/calico kittens… I swear to you, the kitten looks faded… either been out in the sun too much or made a trip thru soapy bleach water. Poor lil thing! It’s a very big world out there.
Sorry bout this one. I think I gotten all the bad out of my system for a while. At least, I hope so… I seem to do better with harassment than nice. Lolol
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember it’s ok to be human, ok to forgive others and especially yourself.
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter to you all. The meems in the confessional…lol

“Hi Paula...Just wanted to say aloha and thank you for the faithful delivery of the Mountain News right into my mail box. The Coconut Wireless hoots and hollers when the Mt. News comes over the wires. I also wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers have been with you… I am hanging on by the Grace of God….. “Today I am thinking of all the men and women who have perished or been disabled while protecting this beautiful country and all of its citizens. My party days are long gone...thank God...and now my thoughts dwell on gratitude and just being able to live out another day in my own simple personal paradise. Like you I love, and am loved...so what more can one ask for. “Just know I am thinking about you and your crazy mountain brood. Much Love, Donnaâ€
Excerpts from Jasmin in Maui… My dear roving reporter in the Islands.
TO ALL OF MINE… BELOVED GALS AND GUYS, DEAR HEARTS…
Thank you for your sacrifices…
Thank you for your giving hearts and lives…
Thank you for your sacrifices…
Thank you for NOT giving up when that would have been the easiest route.
Thank you for bearing the scars inflicted… internally and externally.
Thank you for giving me the freedom and security to have another birthday in safety.
Thank you for giving your all so that mine can live in security knowing you are there. Thank you for making it possible to go in safety.
Thank you for giving me the freedom to be who I am.
All you have given and sacrificed allows me to laff, love, live life to the fullest. Thank you all!
You know, I had a birthday last week…my 74th year. If you look at that info from the other side, I have lived for ¾ of a century. Three quarters of a century! Just think about that for a moment…
We had radio back then..But No TV…no Microwaves…No direct dial…no fridge just an ice box with real ice to cool (drip pan to empty too) .. No tape decks or cds. Rx’s thru the mail? I don’t think so.
No aluminum cans all over the place. No thoughts of instant replacement of broken items. Things were built to last back then. You repaired, not replaced. No repair, you did without.
I’ve lived thru more than one war/police action … whatever you want to call these upheavals. Human kind has never seemed to learn… War means loss… a major loss for some. But a loss for all of us.
Have you ever pondered on the meaning of the two words ‘never again’? War equals sacrifice – giving one’s all. War also means ‘never again’. Think about that fact on this memorial day, 2010. Take care all of mine… go in safety always… You are NOT forgotten. Not now, not ever!
To all of mine, all my love… meems
Sunday edition ** 2010*May*23 Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home Well, get on in here and have some coffee or sumfin! Let me tell you about yesterday and some of the remarks this nice lil old lady received from her “friendsâ€! lolol From the Smokey… didn't expect you to be nice, it's not in your nature. Does the boy know me or what? From the Marv… Always knew you were all wet! From the Boss… Agreed that it was a beautiful day. (Now this one is scary! The Boss AGREED? Oh dear, I’m in trouble!) From the KK…Only found a few typos/misspellings….as they happened. And the KK is up to sumfin…. She’s already given me fair warning. This is a switch! Usually she just reaches out and touches me with a GOTCHA! No warnings at all… lolol I can hear her giggling to herself right now… lolol I slept a lot today… had decided early on that I wasn’t going to do anything… nothing… nada… zilch… zero activity planned for the day. Not even do the news. Right? Was I wrong! Yup yup, I was wrong… was too purty a day to stay inside. I haul my sorry buns out of the bed after noon… I refuse to say what time. Didn’t even have coffee. Grabbed my cigars and pop and out to the front porch I went. (Yes, I had my teeth in. Yes, I know that’s gross to most people but it’s part of my charm) Yes, I can be charming, sweet natured, kind hearted but it’s a lot of work! Lolol And yes, these lovely green eyes will stretch the truth. Oh yeah! In a heart beat! Lololol Any way, back to the porch. Heard some of my fly guys playing around up there. Went out to a shady spot in the side yard. Did my thing/s! lolol Yes, I was in my best granny grunge outfit…(Paint covered Orange cut off sweatpants. T-shirt with some ‘I am a girl’ sayings) … and sprayed (read soaked) with eau de OFF. Yes, my feet have red stripes on them again! There I sit, studiously doing nothing when I have a brite idea. I had been looking in the direction of the back porch. Spotted a large clay colored plastic pot. Hmmmm. I’ve been looking around for pots to start some ivy. I want to transfer some to the banks of the pond… and a few other places. So after some consideration, I decided to go get some dirt to fill all my empty pots. I collect 5 or 6 gallon pots… throw them in the back of the pick up and off I go. The 6 pack go with me the upper curve below the house. (that’s where the guy was playing with the back hoe the other day) Nice fresh dirt…soft…damp… just right to dig. or http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/715504-Fire-2-1-Apr-7 The upper curve is the section at the lower left of the pic… OK, so I fill all the pots… pick up some flat rocks… 6 pack helping and my flyguys checking to see what I was doing. Yes, this story does have a point and an ending. Lolol I jump in the truck after I shut the tail gate. Start her up, shift into reverse and promptly back into the ditch! Oh yeah. Not only did I put the whole drivers side into the ditch, I backed up about 15 feet before I discovered I had a small problem. Lolol Ditch was getting deeper and I was driving uphill. OMG! PLEASE don’t let anybody see me, come by, fly over… not while I’m in the ditch! I should have taken the camera with me… It was too funny… I did get out of the ditch with no trouble but I sure felt stupid. I DID enjoy the smell of the wild roses while I was out there. Have daisies blooming all over the hill sides and the honeysuckle is starting to open up. LOL I have one lone tiger lily blooming at the moment… Have buds all over the place tho. The agave/century plants are ready to bloom. I really need to get out there with the camera again. Maybe tomorrow. Well, I’m outa here for a while… Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. And remember to stay out of ditches! It takes a while to explain how you got there. Lolol Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… the truly accident prone meems PS…Thank you all so very much for the birthday wishes and gifts. You have no idea how much I appreciate and love you all. Thank you, thank you, thank you. PPS…KK, I will get even… lololol hugs

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.
And a special hello to my flyguys!
I got so tickled with them rotten kids as they flew over. They must be having problems with their lil spy cams…. I got flashed even tho I was wearing one of my week day best granny grunge outfits. Lolol It was sort of a catch as catch can situation. Me running between the rain drops…or not running but making sure all the stuff (green and growing stuff) was watered or at least drizzled on. My hair was streaming and still damp from shampooing. Lolol Lordy pete, I am soooooo cute!
Planted 3 Hemlock starts Anna gave me on Tuesday. Got them watered. They’re gonna look good on the west side of the house. My lovely manicured nails are ruined… did you know that red clay/dirt will stain the underside of your nails? Another thing, don’t spray Off on your shoes with your feet in them… My feet…well, kids, they look like they’ve been run over by a Mack truck! The leather dye came off and left yucky red streaks on my insteps. Sheesh! Can you say scrub with wire brush? Lolol If it ain’t one thing, it’s a dozen others… lolol
With all the rain and drizzles we’ve had lately, the ground was just right for digging. When it gets too dry, the ground is like concrete. I think I’ve mentioned this before. I’m old and I repeat myself unless I forget! Shut up, Marv! (I must mention here, the boy loves me… in his way! LOL)
Remember the other day, when I told y’all about rescuing the tarpins? Well, the rotten kid made a lonnnnnnnngggggg comment on my profile blog…Actually, it wasn’t a comment… It was a recipe for turtle soup! I’m gonna turtle his soup one of these days.
Another remember… when I was talking about going to the grocery store? Storms and stuff? Well, Grasscutter’s truck has a sky light thingy! I learned the hard way that you can roll up every window in the vehicle but if you don’t close the sky lite thingy, I get wet. LOLOL Cracked me up… I got drizzled and dripped on all the way home!… lolol Grasscutter thot it was funny so I hauled off and hit him! So there! Anybody else out there watch NCIS?
We did have the State Police following us for a while….but that was before I hit him! Lol
What else? Oh, I’ve finally gotten the phone bench put together. Well, almost… I need to let the glue dry before I attach the runner thingies to the underside of the drawer. I decided I needed to straighten out the living room before I run the vacuum… Need I mention the sweeper will last forever from lack of use? Yup, yup! I HATE housework almost as much as I don’t like tick bites. (I now have two very full cans of Off in use) and I’ve used Seven dust on the hairiest of the 6 pack. Somebody asked me how the hummers got into the house… Well, I prop the back storm door open and leave it that way until the heat and humidity become too intense. The birds, especially the hummers, will often come in to visit. I’ve had a swift, a swallow, a tiny house wren and the hummers come in. I’ve also had wasps, hornets and bees visit.
One time a very young hummer came in and became disoriented. Poor lil feller, him was so scared. Parents came to the outside of the front storm door, called to the little one as I opened the door. Little one flew out the door and off the family went to the maple tree out front. Everybody ended up happy.
Here’s one… just for the colors… A new rose in hiding.

Before I sign off for the day, I want to wish the BossMan a very happy HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And many many more… And THAT is all the nice I have for him! Used all the nice I had for him earlier in the year! Lolol Gotcha Boss…
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to celebrate life itself. In the world, in your soul and in your heart.
Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter… meems

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home…
Come on in, find yourself a seat, grab a cuppa and warm up. Lordy pete, it’s chilly, damp and miserable out there. This is what I call your basic cover diving weather! Head for the bed…dive under the covers and take a nice toasty warm nap. Just me and the house critters. Lolol
Let’s see here… first of all, I put the wrong date on yesterday’s news. (Can’t trust me with numbers at all!) I’m not even sure this is Wednesday. Should be Wednesday cause yesterday was Tuesday, wasn’t it? Election day? Primaries or sumfin?
Well, Anna called me and rolled me out… said she had called several times (I was asleep remember?) Bout time for me to ‘get up’, ‘throw on some clothes’ (the voters of the county are not ready to see me in the all-togethers/starkers yet) and go ‘vote’! Sheesh, it’s cloudy out… gonna rain…. Sheesh again! Lolol
OK, OK, I’ll come down and we’ll go vote. Well, I go look for and find some decent looking clothes. Decent means no visible paints, no granny grunge. (The voters aren’t ready for that sight either) I’m getting tickled at myself.
Anyway, down the mountain I go. Get to Anna’s and Barkley comes to greet me, growling and barking for all he’s worth, which ain’t much. Anna and El have that 4 legged critter spoiled rotten… That little dog loves his family… no doubt about it.
or view link
Well, off we go to the fire house to vote. Anna, of course, is related to almost everybody around here. When we go in the side door, a nice looking man comes over to talk to Anna. The guy leans toward me and says he and Anna are relatives. I looked at him and responded with: “I wouldn’t let people know, if I were youâ€.
The man looked startled… Obviously, that’s not what he expected to hear. Anna and I were cracking up. Started getting crowded, so Anna and I went out, got in the truck and went to her place.
Sat on the porch for a while… could hear what sounded like a bear cub squalling in the distance somewhere to the north and west of her house… Yup, we have a sow brown bear who lives in the area. I saw one of her cubs on the way home from town 3 or 4 years ago. Up a tree … don’t know where Mama was at the time. I didn’t stay around to find out. Saw a bobtail cat in the same area at another time.
Oh, I have to tell you about Monday! Grasscutter came out to take me to the store… Almost out of pop, totally OUT of chocolate, getting low on my cigars.
Now, the weather bureau had issued severe T storm warnings for the area but off we went anyway. Rain, clouds and warm days means the tarpins, box or wood turtles, will be out. Crossing the roads, always the males making the crossings in the spring. Mating season. (Well, I did find a female in the middle of the road one time but that’s a rarity)
or view link
Naturally, I spotted one… threw a small hissy fit so that GrassCutter would stop. I jump out of truck…grab tarpin… put the little guy in the bed of the pick up. And off we go.
A mile or so down the road I spot another one. GC is forced to pull to the side of the road while I jump out to rescue a smaller male turtle. I bring them home and turn them loose in the chickyduck pen. They escape the pen overnite while the dogs are asleep. The tarpins are free from roadways and human kind.
BTW, I really must warn y’all that deliberately or accidentally hitting a tarpin in the roadway is not a good idea. Running over a broken shell will cut your tires… all the way thru… Trust me, they will.
Well, I ran into all kinds of people at the store… Ones that I haven’t seen in months and months. Pogo was there. Grabbed me and gave me a big hug. One guy there, I hadn’t seen for 4 or 5 years or more. A little bit later, I was introduced to a friend’s 3 month old grand-daughter… Cutest lil thing… lolol
I ‘got’ her belly and tickled her…She just smiled so big. Serious eye contact here too. She stuck her tongue out at me… I responded in kind. Her wrapped them lil hands around my fingers and my heart.
GC was telling everybody that I was Mother Theresa (no disrespect here) to the wild critters and I had taken over for the Crocodile hunter. Crocodiles in the Dan’l Boone Forest Preserve? Well, why not… we have all kinds of strange critters here in the mountains. Lolol How bout tree rattlesnakes?!? Lololol They, the rattlesnakes of the trees, only come out during ‘pot’ season! Cracks me up… (In Ohio, Cincinnati area, it was the spotting of black panthers.)
Guess I’d better quit while I’m ahead. Take care, all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to enjoy some part of each day.
Many hugs, much love and loads of lafter from the Founder/Charter member of the Tarpin Rescue League… meems

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!
Sheesh, what a time I’ve had lately…. There’s been some good and then there’s been some bad.
Well, I had my feelings badly hurt (enuf of that!)… and I’ve had some really lovely ‘atta girl’s’. Let me think here…
I have a secret admirer out there in cyberspace! Guess what the SA sent me as a Mother’s day gift! A brand new rechargeable regular sized ladies razor! How bout that?!? No more using the mustache trimmer size on an hourly basis because I missed a spot or two! LOLOL Of course, I had to try out the new one right away. IT WORKED! Y’all surely needed to know that small piece of info. I have the giggles… Is this too personal for cyberspace…? Should I keep everyone updated? Should I let it go? Should I send another thank you to SA? Ponder, ponder…
It rained all day yesterday…But I did get some pix taken of the latest bloomings… A yellow iris (one), wild geraniums, and a bunch of old fashioned purple iris. Then there’s the old fashioned snowball bush doing it’s thing out there.
or view link or view link or view link
If you look closely, you can see some baby peaches hiding among the leaves.
Anna gave me some starts of forsythia and mock orange… she says keep ‘em wet… I can do that… some I stuck in the ground at the drip line out back…others I put in large pots, plastic and clay. Doing ok so far. Then there’s the humming birds and the barn swallows.
Had a barn swallow come thru the open back door to check out the kitchen. It left! And while I was watering the flowers and plants out front, I was attacked by a hummer. Sheesh! Dive bombing me and sqeaking up a storm… I got the message! I stopped the watering and went to fix some hummer food…I appear to be a slave to nature? I get so tickled at the hummers especially.
Feeder empty? They will come inside and plant their little feet on the light fixture in the kitchen… Or they will hang outside the kitchen window and stare at me. Can you say guilt trip? Lolol I’m fixing, I’m fixing!
My home made recipe for the hummers: Measure correct amount of water to fill feeder… add a small amount of salt…heat water to boiling in microwave…Add 0ne cup sugar to 2 cups of water. Stir sugar until it is totally dissolved. Let cool… add a dollop of vanilla. Stir.
Too much sugared water for the feeder… pour leftover into a clean jar … use lid or saran to seal… I don’t use any coloring in the mix… the hummers know exactly where and what. Lolol
Guess that’s it for now… Take care and go in safety always. Remember to take care of and enjoy the wild critters…
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter your way… meems
EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS posted about 1 hour ago I’m back… I think!
2010*May*5 Wednesday all day Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home
Good grief! My whole life I’ve never seen this much rain in two days! Here on the mountain, an inch of rain equals a foot of water give or take a bit…Just the reverse with snow…one foot of snow melts down to about an inch of water. Does that make any sense at all? Anyway, I have a pond full of water and some very noisy frogs in there. Frogs complaining…the crows are complaining…I am complaining! lolol
The six pack and the felines are all in the house right now… Joey, my veterinarian, will be out shortly to give all their booster shots. Yes, he makes house calls (takes care of large farm animals too) … I’ll try to get some pix of him today if he ok’s it. Lolol
I’ve started reading my fortune on the iGoogle home page… My favorite so far…â€Avoid reality at all costs!†I can handle that!
This week’s yucky pucks…How bout a very odiferous and very dead front end of a rabbit on the bed room floor? Oh yeah, I was thrilled no end by the discovery. I do have reason to be thankful tho… at least it was on the floor and not buried in the bedding.
Let’s see… what else? Grasscutter came out on Friday to mow and then came back on Sunday to finish up the yard… Had one heck of a time running between the rain drops. Poor guy had 5 molars pulled about a week before and was still in misery. I told him not to worry about the yard but he would be to do the work anyway. God love him… he said it would cut down on the ticks…Way to go, my friend.
Anna just called… to check on me… lolol She gave me orders to relay to Joey…ie. A rabies shot and a flea collar and tick spray for me…add low cal dog food to the list! Cracked me up… The woman is a bad influence on me…Not that I couldn’t come up with some of my own wild ideas and plots. Lolol
Talked to Wilma at the Action Team. Me just checking to see if there was any damage to downtown from flooding…. River was out of its banks but nothing was hurt or damaged. This is good news. Still haven’t heard about any damage to the low lying areas…
Will be taking a few more days off… have a rush painting commission to get done… Will check the mail tho… Take care of one another… Love you all… Meems

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.
OK! OK! I’m back… Sheesh! Have I mentioned lately that I am not fond of ticks?
First of all, I had to rise and almost shine before breakfast yesterday morning. Was sooo foggy on the way to town. The nearer to town, the thicker the fog… Visibility was 100 yards or so.
This has not been a good week. (understatement) Weatherwise or otherwise. Had heavy frost two nites in a row. However, the poppies are still lookin’ good. So are the Blue Spruce. YES!
I made a round trip to the smaller corner grocery the other day… and the two pumper. Would you believe I forgot to buy the deet/Off! Well, ratz! Yes, I wrote a list and NO I didn’t take it with me! Duh, Paula.
Stopped at Butch’s place, down the road! Didn’t have much of a choice as Butch was standing in the middle of the road! I’ve told Dorothy he is cute and cuddly but not too bright! Lololol
Anybody with an ounce of sense would climb the nearest oak for safety. Not Butch. He was rounding up some ducks who had crossed the road. Then while he was doing that, the baby goats came running out of the barn.. Looking for mom… and then them babies started playing ‘king of the mountain’. Cracked me up.
The all week recap of the news! Lolol
Well, first and foremost, I had problems develop from the tick bites… Called Kim’s office. Get in here in the morning or go to ER for treatment. Ratz! Antibiotics again. I had planned ahead.. Knew what was happening… Started the antib’s the same day I called the office. I had a script on hand from late last year.
Then, there’s the benadryl. Makes me sleepy, groggy, and more non-sensical than usual. (If there is such a thing!)
Well, I got poked and prodded…gave blood sample so they can check to see if I have any unwanted critters in my blood stream… Seems there have been a lot of cases of Lyme’s disease around here. Got thrown out of Kim’s by the following two brats who work at her office… lolol
Robin….
or view link
Kathy…..
or view link
I got people-knapped by those two and held hostage in the pre-exam room. Found out I’ve lost 3 lbs… Big whoopee! A whole 3 lbs! Yes! I think the weight difference lies in the clothing/shoes I was wearing… lolol Would I try to cheat the doctor’s office scales? Oh yeah! I have the best time when I go in for an apt.
What tickles me the most is that Kim may pass me in the hall… May or may not ask if I am there to see her. Lolol You see, this is not the first time I’ve been held hostage by the office staff. Lolol Happens to me all the time! Truth, so help me! Are they trying to tell me sumfin? Kim has even closed me in an exam room to try to keep me out of trouble… Trust me, that don’t work either. Gotcha kids! Love you…
How many people can say they look forward to going to the doctor?
Marv has been complaining mightily again. (So what else is new?) He has been throwing a hissy fit because I haven’t done the News lately. I keep telling him I am old, fragile, delicate, easily bruised, allergic to him, to his sense of humor…but does he listen? I don’t think so! He says I am a hoot? I am NOT going to ask him what that means…. No way!
Man, oh man! I just went out to the kitchen to get some ice cubes. The storm gods are lining up to the west and looking very hostile… Gray and black clouds and the air is very still out there. Have flood warnings and storm warnings and and and…

I still have a bunch of stuff to tell ya but I am running out of time, weather-wise.
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to ask for nothing and you will receive everything.

EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS posted about 3 hours ago Does anybody know for sure what day it is? I’m gonna go with 2010*4*27 or there abouts!
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.
I have to laff at myself. Tick bite… ‘no see-ums’ and benadryl! This is becoming the story of my life. Itching wasn’t quite as bad this time… am I building up a resistance? Lordy pete, I sure hope so.
One of the kittens was squalling in the other room… Lilah was fighting with Spudley. I go racing in… I get the Spudley out of the studio and shut the door. I pick up a very feisty, spitting, claws showing, homely kitten… LOLOL I am serious.. Someplace back in genetic history was a calico cat. Well, I sat there with the lil critter for better than a half hour.
I petted and crooned.. sweet talked and soothed… Poor lil baby was shivering like crazy… scared to death. Lilah was on the floor next to me. Anyway, kitten finally settled down and decided I must not be tooooo bad.
This week has been a lulu again! Electric went off for a bit during the storm the other day. Can you say: reset the clocks? Lolol
Storm gods were a little rowdy… been a long winter and somebody turned them out for a little recess? Man! It was rough up here on the mountain… Lightning was playing up and down the creek. Thunder rumbling along and down the holler.
This is supposed to be the last part of April, right? Trust me… somebody didn’t tell the Winter storm gods. We have storm and frost warnings for tonite. Sheesh…
Saturday, the Blue Spruce seedlings came in from Nat’l Arbor Day Foundation. Ten of them… lolol Well, it was raining on Saturday. When it slowed down to a drizzle, I went out to plant them…
There I was… dressed in my best granny grunge look…Paint pants (cut off way too big jeans) an oversized painted t shirt and an old plaid robe. Lolol have I mentioned that I am cute when I am dressed this way? Now, I am getting tickled.
I’m telling you when I am dressed in my finest and out doors, everybody drives by except the President or the Pope or or or! Anyway. Here comes Butch.. taking the hired hands home. Butch stops… I give 3 of my trees to them… gossip for a few then I go back to planting the trees in their very own pots. Butch and Bruce, the guy who had been beaten so badly, gave me a talk on the merits of goat manure. Butch says for me to come down and get some of the manure. Lololol He ain’t kidding me a bit! He’s got a barn full and if I go get some, that is less manure he would have to shovel. I ain’t totally stupid. Butch continues on up the road taking the guys home.
Here’s a biggie! Two of the poppies are starting to show sprouts. YES!!!!!!!
I had two guys stop… had lost their coon dogs… Had I seen them? Nope, but I heard dogs in the hills to the SW of my location. Anyway, I wrote the one guy’s name and phone number on my hand. Told them I would give them a call if they were seen/spotted. Let’s seen here… somebody was shooting up behind the cemetery and I heard the back up warnings of large equipment from the North West. There’s a strip mine up that way.
The peach trees are surviving the caterpillar attacks… I check them everyday… There are leaves sprouting all over them… Looking good.
Also, McAfee did a number on putertoo the other day. Sheesh. I read the reports about the screw up. I played with ‘too’ and finally removed Mc… ‘Too’ is working well now. I found 300 plus messages from rss that I didn’t want or need.. Cleaned those out while I was at it. Putertoo is doing well now! Lolol
Did y’all know that puters have their very own personalities? Well, they do!
Guess that’s it for now. Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to plant a tree. It is a visible sign of our hopes for the future.
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter. meems
